This is a great beginning to what, I must assume, will be a great series.
Written to address the changing needs of society by a church many have seen as too traditional and static, this book offers a lens through which to view the church’s place in the “new world.” Part truthful history (even when it hurts), part dreams-for-a-better-tomorrow, Law and Spellers have done a wonderful job of explaining the ever-changing mission of the Episcopal church. The invitation to continue along the journey through the remainder of the series is enticing.

This did well in explaining the lived Episcopal Way. It covered a lot of heavy topics but was able to handle them in plain english and not condescendingly. A book I would give to someone if they had a lot of questions. I’ve been to seminary and might still become an Episcopal priest, but finding the right words can be difficult. There are sections in here I want to memorize for such questions; their wording was that well done.

Written in 2014, and it reads like a book written in this age. An excellent survey of what the American Episcopalian church is all about in terms of worship, mission, and what being a church means to us in this time of change.
