Boone thought he knew the rules of survival—keep your head down, trust no one, and never invite trouble home. But when a mysterious woman crosses his path, trouble doesn’t just follow him; it craves him.

This book had everything I didn’t know I needed—Chupacabra sightings in Texas, a gruff yet irresistible handyman cowboy, and a bold, self-assured woman who knows her worth, what she wants, and isn’t afraid to take control. From the moment I picked it up, I was hooked. The chemistry between the characters crackled off the pages, and the spice? Absolutely amazing. Plus, there’s a lot of blood in this book—and somehow, it’s incredibly hot. I went in fully aware that this wasn’t a HEA, and I thought I was prepared… but wow, the ending still shattered me. It’s the kind of book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve finished, leaving you both heartbroken and satisfied in the best possible way.
If you’re looking for a fun, sexy, quick read about a murderous chupacabra who likes to play with her meals, let me introduce you to Crave featuring Rue and Boone!
This was absolutely delicious!!! Rue was deviant, sexy, and full of female rage. I loved how this breaks the norms, and reverses the roles giving us a huntress and her prey.
Crave is by far my favorite of the cryptids that have been released so far, and I can’t wait for what’s to come! Highly recommend, devour it, just check the TW’s first and understand that this does not end with a HEA!
Another amazing cryptid romance from Katie! I truly cannot wait to see the rest of this series, and own them all because one, the covers are amazing, and two, these first two have been so good, so well written, and I know Katie will not disappoint on the others. Who knew I'd be into an obsessive, femme dom chupacabra?
This was a wild story! I’m really loving this novella series. How she starts each book with a little background info is just fascinating to me and then we get to see her take off with whatever story develops from that background knowledge. This one is dark and gory but also romantic in a weird way lol. I have definitely never read anything like it and I kind of like that it doesn’t have a HEA.
If you’re looking for a quick crazy read, Crave is what you want. The role reversal between male and female was so refreshing. It was dark and haunting but also sorrowful.
Let me start with the fact that the spice level is only at a 3 because this is a Novella sized book so the amount of smut is not high. Plus the style of book…. Yea, it’s not going to be the spiciest book you ever read. There is spice in this book and it is delicious so don’t hesitate just because of a spicy rating. The Rating of the book is higher because that was downright fun to read.
Y’all… This book was freaking amazing. I can’t recap or it will give away too much but horror babes, read this!!! I loved this. You need to love this and then lets chat about it!
Author K.T. Maddan has been taking the time to write some horror type books that change up the pace that we normally see from her work. I am in love with everything so far that she had been writing but this was such a fun change of pace. I like dark romance but horror is not the first style that I go for typically. Not for the scared factor but Im just stuck in my mafia ways. But this was a wonderful start in the horror side. I feel like if you want to take a step into horror smut, this would be a lovely step to do so.
I had a feeling how this book was about to go but I’m not gonna lie, I was hoping the entire time that I would be wrong. I wasn’t but dang, with how she wrote it, I was pleasantly entertained the entire time. It may have ended exactly how I thought but she wrote it 10x better than what I could have imagined. Shoot to the point that I got a little choked up in the epilogue. I’m warning you now, you may choke up too!!!
Crave was definitely an odd one—and I mean that in the most curious way possible. From the very first chapters, I was hooked. The writing pulled me in so quickly that I thought I was about to binge-read this in one sitting. The setup had me intrigued, the atmosphere was tense, and I really wanted to see where everything was going.
But then… the book flipped itself on its head. The story shifted so drastically that it almost felt like I was reading two different books mashed into one. At times, I found myself struggling to stay grounded in the narrative because the tone and direction kept changing. It made for a very unpredictable reading experience—but not always in a way that felt smooth or intentional.
That said, I can’t deny that the ending left me completely shocked. I did not see that twist coming, and it definitely stuck with me after I finished. While I’m not sure the execution fully worked for me overall, the boldness of that finale deserves some credit.
This wasn’t quite the right fit for me, but if you enjoy books that aren’t afraid to go off the rails and surprise you, Crave might be worth checking out.
CRAVE immediately pulled me in from the very first page. The eerie, unsettling atmosphere was so vivid that I felt like I was living the story—every creepy moment, every cryptid whisper. The suspense was relentless in the best way possible, keeping me on edge and flipping pages.
K.T. Maddan has this rare talent of making the reader feel like a character in the book. You’re not just observing the chaos—you’re in it, running, hiding, craving.
Although the ending wasn’t a HEA (and yes, I was a little heartbroken by that), it was powerful, satisfying in its own dark way, and stayed true to the eerie tone of the story. It left me haunted… but wanting more.
🌶️Spice: 3/5
🎬Final Thought💀
If you’re looking for a romance dipped in horror, laced with cryptid mystery, and wrapped in suspense, CRAVE will hook you from the start and linger long after you finish. Don’t expect soft love and happy endings—this is dark, delicious, and daring.

Do I know the legend of the Chupacabra...yes. Was I expecting this book to be amazing... yes yes I was. Was I prepared for the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on...NOPE not even close. Author K.T. Madden did a phenomenal job at creating this character that embodies this legendary cryptid. You know that this FMC is an absolute siren... and you don't want to love her... but yet there's so much more than what meets the eye. The MMC of course he's this tall drink of cowboy and you're instantly smitten with him. These two are together are as beautifully tragic as they are hot.... and boy are they HOT! How this Author manages to pack such a punch with a novella is an art form cause the ENDING...yep that's all I'm saying. If you love Horror Erotica, Cryptid/ Monster romance, cowboy MMC's, and ultimately fierce FMC's then this book is a MUST READ!
Crave is book 2 of the Cryptid Desires Novellas and this one is a sizzler. This novella packs so much intense story, emotion, action, and sexy spice into approximately 100 pages. I can’t even begin to explain how well written it is. Character development and setting is vividly established and this amazing erotic horror unfolds perfectly. The primal play is heart pumping, panty melting good. This tragic story gripped my heart and will sit with me for quite some time. There is no HEA but the ending is as it should be and is soul squashingly beautiful. (Yes I created my own word because I can’t explain exactly how this book made me feel so so many feels) KT Maddan has an amazingly expressive writing style and these cryptid books are like nothing you’ve read before. Do yourself a favor and get into them.
This was really enjoyable for the first few chapters. The writing instantly pulled me in, and I loved how badass and confident Rue was (the way she took control and made Boone her prey was hottt.) But after that first hunting scene, the tone/vibe of the book completely shifts. It didn't feel like I was reading about this feral monster and her "little snack" anymore. One minute she's trying to kill him and the next they're in love and she's trying to keep him alive/control her urges.
It didn't make sense to me. Sure, they had a connection, but for Boone to be willing to die for some lady he just met and knew almost nothing about? And if she really wanted him to live, why didn't she leave or take him to a hospital? She couldn't find someone else to feed on in the meantime? I don't get it.
Another story killed by instalove and nonsense ....

“I told you, I would catch you. Did you really think I’d play fair?”
I was so thrilled when KT Maddan asked me to Beta read this for her!
Crave is SUCH a beautifully tragic story. The perfect combination of erotic and horror and passion and yearning. Not to mention primal play with HER chasing him? Sign me up.
The journey that these two characters go through stuck with me for so long after reading it. Your heart will hurt for them while not knowing how you want things to end. But KT wrapped this up in a way that felt true and raw and perfect for both the characters and genre.
TROPES: -Primal Play -Chupacabra x Human -Femme Fatale -Blood -One Night Stand -Rough & Tough Cowboy Falls To His Knees -Feminine Rage -Non HEA -Sexy Chases Through The Woods
This book is definitely different than most I read because it is not a traditional romance, but it has all the other elements I love with monster stories!
I loved the chemistry between Rue and Boone and how their dynamic is developed within the 100 pages or so of their story. Seeing Rue take on a more nurturing role during the story, even if it is against her nature, worked well and I liked seeing Boone give in to his feelings for Rue.
I definitely was NOT expecting to cry like a baby during the story with how everything plays out. This one will definitely stick with me for a while!
I loved this one way more than book one, now I didn’t hate book one but it was just missing something to me…then she goes and drops this emotional banger 🫠🫠 It might have been the change up from the FMC usually being the “prey” to being the predator, but even the story just being told from the MMC’s POV you could still feel both of their emotions and their characters definitely had more depth to them…now this story does NOT have a HEA and you’re gonna feel it. From them developing feelings, to fighting them, to trying to find a middle ground, all the way to accepting the inevitable fighting it tooth and nail…this one definitely hit it out of the park for me 💜💜
This novella broke my heart in the most unexpected way. I was actually worried when I saw that there is no HEA for this book. I was thinking it was going to be an ending I don’t enjoy since I read mostly HEA. I was not expecting the ending at first but once I reached closer to the end of the novella I had a feeling on what would happen and it just broke my heart.
This authors writing style is just amazing and I highly recommend to read her work even if it’s a different series by her or this novella series she is coming out with
This here is a quick, HOT read. Book 2 of the Cryptid Desires novellas, this one does not disappoint with our FMC being a chupacabra. She is feisty, powerful, and looking for the next source of food. What she doesn’t expect is Boone and how he got under her skin too. Be mindful, this does not have a HEA - and as a primarily HEA reader, I was totally okay with it. I didn’t see any other way for Rae to do what she’s gotta do. Read it, and let me know if you agree or not! ⭐️Horror erotica ⭐️Chupacabra FMC ⭐️Primal play ⭐️Blood Thank you to KT Maddan for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
ARC REVIEW Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ WHEN I TELL YOU TO GO READ K.T. Maddan book I’m literally serious because she going to have you hooked like she had me from the beginning. This was a quick book novel first we was reading moth man basically Flare now we on Crave this whole book was mind blowing like my jaw was on the floor I’m just saying the book was chefs kiss like ever book she writes has me like I need all of them on my shelves and I hope everyone enjoy the book the way me and the rest of the team did.
If you want to a book about a sexy cryptid who loves to play with her food, then "Welcome to the hunt.".
This was another great cryptidXhuman novella filled with spice, great humor from the mmc, and an unhinged fmc.
"If keeping you alive meals I bleed myself dry, if it means every breath I take is hellfire, then so be it."
I loved the first cryptid novella in this series and this was so fun to read too. This is a great choice for anyone who loves a quick unhinged read, is a huge fan of primal play, and isnt scared of a little blood.
This novella isnt technically HEA but I loved it! Excited to see what comes next in this erotic horror series!
If you are looking for a book about a Chupacabra falling for a human, look no further.
The love they share is bittersweet.
This was an unexpected cute little novella. It starts out like you would assume a Chupacabra book would, and turns into a sweet little story, with a not so happy ending.
I love these Cryptid stories that the author has published!
Boone really had no life since his girl left. So when a to hot to handle lady walks into the bar and wants to leave with him he jumps at the chance. But sometimes things are to good to be true and that lady is more than just a craving…
KT never misses! She can give me anything and i’ll love and read it. Crave was definitely my favorite so far, Rue’s determination and rage fueled me the whole time! If you love ‘monsters’ and humans, this is a great one for you as well! i LOVEEEED Rue being a chupacabra, the whole premise and deception of her true identity was probably my favorite part. We love unsuspecting prey😂 But seriously, go read this NOWWWW!
I was warned before reading this, I just get so attached so it’s hard for me to handle a book without a HEA.. but .. this was still such a good read.
This was actually only the second true erotic horror read vs just a dark romance, and I’m so glad because it made me a true fan.
Even though this is a novella I quickly became immersed into this story and wrapped up in the characters. I love Boone and I just kept falling for him. Did not disappoint!

Creepy tales #2 and the spooky spice keeps coming. I think this is my favorite of all 3 books.
Theres something feasting on the local creatures and bodies are turning up. What is causing all of this? Local man, Boone, finds out while enjoying a drink at the small town bar. He likes what he sees though, he senses the danger but continues to chat up the sexy Miss Rue. Who could’ve known danger would be so attractive to a man.
This was nothing like anything I had ever read before. It was very unusual. Very dark. Very bloody. This is not my typical genre, but I enjoyed reading it. I always love the writing style of KT and I loved the ending.
If you’re into erotic horor then this is definitely a book for you!
I absolutely LOVE cryptids. And the spin KT has put on these has been such an amazing thing to see. The humor, the banter, the story, and the spice in this novella were everything! While Crave definitely doesn’t have the HEA you usually expect. This book ended just how it needed to while making you love the characters so much.
A quick, gory read with a twist of spice and sprinkle of emotions. I didn’t love this one as much as the first in the Cryptid series, but it was still an enjoyable novella. Someone about our main characters just didn’t quite click for me, but I’ll definitely keep reading these novellas as they’re released !
