A feel-good family saga about second chances and the bond between siblings.
As a blanket of snow covers Rosewood Beach, the Owens family is busier than ever. Determined to give everyone in town a place to celebrate the holidays, they decide to host a Christmas gathering at the restaurant. But to Vivian’s dismay, their plans are put in jeopardy when the local health inspector insists they fix the vents at The Lighthouse Grill first.
For Hazel, helping to plan the party has been a welcome distraction. After focusing on herself and spending time with her daughter, she’s convinced that she’s finally moved past her crush on Jacob, the local handyman who seems forever out of reach.
When Jacob offers to help fix the pub’s ventilation system, Hazel is relieved to find that she’s perfectly relaxed around him. Now that she knows he’s off the market, the nerves she used to feel around him have evaporated, and she can actually enjoy his company as a friend. After all, he’s dating someone else… or so she thinks.
As they spend hours working and laughing together, Hazel realizes that Jacob might not be taken after all. Suddenly, the feelings she thought she’d buried come roaring back—along with the nerves and self-doubt. Will she find the courage to take the leap this time?
Meanwhile, Alexis discovers she’s pregnant just as she launches her fledgling jewelry business, Grayson proves how far he’s come as a supportive husband, and Julia grapples with missing her old career in New York… until she realizes that embracing the holiday spirit might be just the thing she needs.
Take a trip to Rosewood Beach, where the water is warm, the sand is soft, and the Owens family is waiting to welcome you into their lives! This sweet and uplifting women’s fiction series is the perfect bookish escape.
A Bright Winter Season Rosewood Beach 4 By Fiona Baker Narrated by Amy McFadden
Back to Rosewood Beach I go, and family is everything. No matter the issue, this town is where you need to be. It's Christmas, and the Owens family is hosting a town party at their restaurant. Unfortunately, the health inspector has thrown a wrench in plans, making them replace their ventilation system. Hazel, the party planner is still going forward, and is happy when Jacob, the local handyman whom she has pined after for years no longer affects her heart. As soon as he was taken, she put him aside. But things for Jacob have changed and now he is taken with Hazel. Will she fall right back into love with him again? Not only that, but Grayson and Alexis are expecting, only she hasn't told Grayson yet. Craving peanut butter hasn't tipped him off, so what will happen when he finds out? This is a fun, chaotic family of fun with love being the first sentence is written in this story. Fiona Baker once again pulls me into their town, becoming part of the community and feeling good.
Amy McFadden continues her narration, and she is just fabulous. Consistent from book to book with her character voices, and the creation of new ones makes it easy to know who is speaking. She easily keeps the story flowing with laughter and emotions all pouring out from everyone! I love her and she made me love this town.
Back to Rosewood Beach we go, just in time for Christmas. This story focuses mostly on Hazel and Jacob, who we have met and followed a bit in the first three books.
Hazel is a single mother to her pre-teen daughter, Samantha, and works at her family's restaurant, the Lighthouse Grille. She has spent much of her time focusing on finding a partner for herself and a father figure for Samantha, but recently gave up on finding love and began focusing on her daughter.
Just when she gives up hope, she learns that Jacob, a handsome local contractor, is single. He is hired to complete some work on the family's restaurant, and begins running into Hazel more often. Will their interactions lead to more or are they stuck being just friends?
I enjoyed this trip back to the Owens family in Rosewood Beach, and particularly loved the small-town Christmas vibes. Fiona does an excellent job nailing down the feel of small town living, and the sense of community and camaraderie. This is challenged when another local business owner tries to negate all of the hard work that the Owens have done to recoup their losses after the passing of their patriarch. As always, the story serves as a pleasant visit back to our previous couples and where they have landed in their respective relationships.
Amy has done a consistent, predictable delivery with each individual, which is challenging due to the large size of the cast of characters.
Fiona ma’am, I absolutely love love love your writing style. If you write it, I’m gonna read it. You truly didn’t disappoint with this uplifting and sweet book that had some test, but I was not expecting that I enjoyed it so much.
I’m thinking this is his family my favorite book in the series so far. It was some surprises that I absolutely loved seeing. This is officially the fourth ALC I’ve received of your book Fiona. I just want to applaud you in for joining a spectacular job in this book. If I’m being honest, you’ve done a phenomenal job with this entire series so far.
In this book we learn more about Hazel’s and Jacob’s relationship. They’re so perfect for each other but Hazel is very hesitant on having a relationship with Jacob because. She’s not had the best romantic relationship relationship relationships because she put so much into the relationship. If you absolutely love a book about a strong family, who support each other, this book is for you. This feel good book makes me so happy.
The Owen family owns the Lighthouse Grille. All the family work there in one capacity or another. Dean Owen owns an auto repair business. There is McCormick’s brewery, that attempts to run the Lighthouse Grille down any chance Mr. McCormick gets. Because this past year has been tough, the Owen’s decide to have a Christmas celebration, where everyone from the community can come & get a free meal. Mr. McCormick walks in & begins flashing around the invitation to everyone that they could come to the brewery and drink free beer. In between all the happenings in Rosewood Beach, there are plenty of side stories involving the Owen’s family members to keep the story moving. It didn’t take me long to read this book. Good characters, good conversation & great visible description that made me able to put myself in the story!
This small town single mom romance was exactly what I needed. It was so rewarding to see Hazel finally find love after wanting it for so long and after coming to terms with the idea that it might never happen for her.
The romance between Jacob and Hazel was beautiful. Their journey from friends to lovers was developed so naturally that it was impossible not to root for them.
I loved the strong sense of community in Rosewood Beach. We see couples from previous book show up and show out for each other. It was amazing to see.
Thank you to Blue Nose Audio for an ALC of this title. All opinions are own.
The fourth book in the Rosewood Beach series has some new developments for some of the Owens family members. Vivian, the mother of the family, encounters two men - arrogant Judd McCormick who wants to ruin her family business, and health inspector Terrence, who turns out to be a supporter for the Lighthouse Grill. Hazel and Jacob might have a relationship, and Alexis has a big surprise. As usual, the quaint town of Rosewood Beach is as much a character in the book as the Owens are. This book was wonderful and I loved the story lines. I highly recommend the entire series.
This was another cozy trip back to Rosewood Beach and the very likable Owen’s family. This time during the holiday season coming together to work through a problem as a family. Love the characters and their dynamics together. I can’t say this enough. Just love this town and the relationships. Just a sweet read. The Owens family are extremely likable and genuine. The way they are they for each other supporting one another. Just a great listen.
Amy McFadden again fabulous in her narration and portrayal of all the characters. I enjoyed this read.
Thank you Fiona Baker and Blue Nose Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ALC for my honest review.

Hazel and Jacob’s story is charming, and heartwarming.I love the Owens family, and it was a pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces from previous books. This series continues to do a great job of continuing the Owens' family story! I believe a lot of people can relate to Alexis, Hazel, Julia, and Vivian. Regardless of how you try and time things or where you are in life, things can change. It's all about how you face those challenges and those who are around you supporting you!
Amy McFadden continues to be amazing in this series!
Very short and sweet family based small town romance - starting on book four has me desiring to go back and start at the beginning, but able to dive in with enough recap on recent events to start in the middle. Felt warm and cozy and like I was part of the family - able to connect and emotionally invest! Can't wait to continue the series!
I have loved to continually read more books about this amazingly close family. Most families have more interpersonal problems. The Owens family does not, sort of idyllic, but when you like to escape in books, this series supports that.
Heartwarming story. The characters are loyal and determined to make their pub the best place in rosewood Breach. While romance blossoms for one sister and new beginning for a new bundle of joy for the other. uplifting and inspiring series. Enjoy.
