Back in the early 1990s, I bought a boatload of DK Eyewitness Books and Time-Life books in the "A Child's First Library of Learning" series for my son. Both are fine resources for young readers (and maybe even for those who can't read but can learn from their parents reading the books to them).
The focus of this volume is "Wild Animals." The format for this Time-Life series is, simply, an array of questions, with answers provided, as well as illustrations and photographs.
The first question in this book: "Which is the fastest animal?" Then, the answer follows--the cheetah at 70 mph. Other creatures' speeds: Pronghorn, 60 mph; giraffe, 35 mph; bat, 15 mph; human sprinter, 25 mph; turtle, 2 mph. Fun stuff for kids!
So, for young readers who are interested in the animal kingdom, this would make a good gift for them. This is a book that would help them to learn--and should be fun for them in the process.
