Hoodies are vandalizing the once sleepy village of Elderfield, set in the heart of rural England, as Ruth mourns the loss of her husband. While she and her friends try to bring both sides of the town together through gardening, she meets Rob and wonders if there could be love and happiness for her again. I've just recently re-read this and been reminded how much I love this little known book.

With 'insta-love' and obsessive possession all the rage, it is nice to find such a grounded book. The setting is gorgeous (a small British village/town), the characters inspiring and the plot wonderfully realistic. I cannot recommend it enough.
