This one was better than the first, but still lacking. I liked the elves being introduced and finding out more about Wish and who he is. The lack of relationship between Kiernan and Meg makes the whole story unbelievable. Why would they do what they do? And Avery, Kiernan's twin, is willing to sacrifice everything for his brother, as is Kiernan, when if they sat down and talked, they might realize there was no need for the sacrifice... and ultimately, others make the sacrifice anyway!

What a great adventure this book and this series is turning out to be, A great family read and perfect for teens and preteens as it is a clean read. In book 1, we met Avery, Keirnan and Wish as Fae (fairies) and an American girl named Megan. We were introduced to both the Dark and the Light Fae. I was pleased to see the same characters continued on with their adventures into book 2! I really like these characters, though I hate their father. If there ever was a character people love to hate, their father would be the one to hate.

In this book (book 2), we get to travel to Costa Rica in the jungles. I love how the animals fit into this story too. This entire series so far has been fun. The author, Anna Kyss does a great job with our imaginations. I can actually see places and things as the story is read to me. This author is quite creative too. The narrator, Meghan Lewis delivers another flawless read to us complete with accents and emotions. I have to say, I find the narrators voice and reading style perfect for this series! Kudos to both of them for such great entertainment. I feel I envision a lot more in my heard by hearing the audio book rather than reading it myself as I am not as creative. I love the adventures I am traveling on with the author and I look forward to reading book 3 of this series.

I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

I loved this audio book as much as the first one in the series, Wings of Shadow. I couldn't stop listening and even listened at work a bit! The story picks up about six months after Wings of Shadow ends. Kiernan travels to the Costa Rican rainforest in search of the source of his best friend Wish's magic, which will hopefully save his people back in England.

After arriving, Kiernan runs into Meghan, the American girl whom he fell in love with in the first story before she returned to Portland. Meghan is currently studying abroad and specifically studying the medicinal properties of Costa Rican plants. Their mutual attraction to each other is impossible to resist and she brings out the best in Kiernan.

Kiernan's evil father follows them to Costa Rica and wrecks havoc wherever he goes. He infiltrates the safe haven where Kiernan and Meghan were perfecting their talents. After a murder and a kidnapping, Meghan and Kiernan return to Seattle and discover his father's influence is even there. This is where the book ends. And I can't wait for the next installment!

Meghan Lewis's narration is outstanding. She has great individual voices for each of the characters. Her pace and temperament simply bring Anna Kyss's characters to life. I can't imagine the characters sounding any differently. I truly hope she narrates the final book in this trilogy!

I was not in love with the first book, but I was happy to have stayed with the series. Enhanced the world and fleshed out the characters better than the first book. This was easier to like because the story flowed better. It has a very old fantasy feel while still being set in the present.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Meghan Lewis, who does a fantastic job. She has a terrific pace that keeps the book moving. One of the highlights of this book are the narrators skillful accents. I really enjoyed her work and would love to hear more reads from her.

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

Meh

I like the author, and I like the story, but it just isn't what I was craving. I couldn't get past the love triangle, pass Megan around, kind of thing. I still like Avery best.

The first book was bad enough but like the masochist I am, I decided to give the second one a go, hoping there would be more action and interesting plot twists. But no, still the same stupid plot, the same cheesy conversations. Even the exotic set up of tropical rainforest didn't save the day. I DNFed and don't even care what happens next.
