Rebel Worlds begins with Evan trying to convince Roman, their high-ranking Syndicate captive, to help them in the fight against the Syndicate. Also Tobin, Conroy’s inside man in the Commonwealth, risking his life in an attempt to gather more evidence of the corruption and scheming of the new chancellor.
With tensions running high among the stranded colonists, and supplies running low, a resupply mission is in order, which naturally doesn’t go as planned.
Upon learning of the imminent dangers created by the Commonwealth/Syndicate alliance, a raid on a Syndicate outpost is deemed necessary to procure a vital substance.
In the meantime, amid further experimentation with the alien tech, a deadly show of force from the Syndicate, a surprise resurrection of sorts for the Commonwealth populace, trying to solve some ancient Korani mysteries, and a major space battle, a threat to the very existence of the home world is uncovered with an unknown timeline.
There’s never a dull moment in Rebel Worlds by award-winning world-builder A. K. DuBoff.

Captivating

I randomly stumbled on the first book in the series, and it has been quite an addiction lol! The longer I read the better it got! The characters are interesting and believable, and there are several intricate story lines unfolding. Some things were quite predictable for me though. My only problem is way too many dialogues that sound artificial sometimes, and too much action and politics in this book was tiring. I'd love more exploration of the alien worlds and beings that the author has no problem creating with her imagination. Since there was no conclusive ending and the next book hasn't come out yet I'm not sure I'll have interest in continuing reading after several months.

I found it a bit slow to get started and was a bit lost as it had been several months since I'd read book 2 and the author doesn't go into reminding people of who's who. But eventually things came back to me and from then on it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

There is a lot of interplay between Evan and Roman that I found intriguing. Who's going to betray who? IS someone going to betray, or is someone going come around?

As exemplified in the final battle in a very satisfying manner, nanite powers seem a bit overly powerful but I think that's by design, and I hope that the next book will explore that concept more.

Zero sexual content is a big plus to me! PG-13 levels of profanity. Not really too much in terms of violence either.

This story was full of political intrigue and actions to gain power and control over others. I appreciated the “summary of the story till now” at the beginning as it helped remind me of many subtle details about the story. Watching Anya and Evan try figure out the whole political situation along with the mystery of the ancient technology was so interesting! As some details are revealed, more serious turns of events emerge. I can’t wait to see how the new and remaining threats will be dealt with in the next novel!

Another page turner!

This time around, we also get to delve deeper into the politcal intrigue and power structures of the current government and the Noche syndicate. But things seem to be going sideways, if not outright pear-shaped, frequently, forcing Conroy’s hand on his path to reclaim his power. His allies, old and new alike, need to face these new challanges head-on and make some tough decisions in this fast-paced adventure.

Can’t wait for the next one!

Incredible world.

The political situation is dire. What else can you expect when corrupt politicians embrace mob criminals.
But our heroes are working toward dismantling the evil coalition and using incredible alien technology to save their universe.
Full of real life characters who are growing in every story.

Book 3 of the Ancient Starships series. Pretty good space opera. The war between Conroy's faction and Rostov's has been thrown into the open. Right now, the alien technology seems to be siding with the good guys. Evan and Anya are expanding their abilities as their link with the alien AI broadens. How will their god-like abilities be looked at by the ordinary human?

An astounding addition to this series. Author continues to have fresh ideas to keep the premise going.

Characters continue to grow, though not necessarily in positive directions. The plot thickens with the addition of some new beings.

Recommended for lovers of science fiction. Looking forward to the finale.

I am often surprised with the peculiar worlds authors can imagine and bring to light. When Evan and Anya pursue leads to try and find lux, the alien fluid containing nanites and that holds the key to Evan's new developing abilities, they discovered a secretive world that somehow reminds me of a smaller Jupiter. And this world hides a secret base with lots of laboratories.
And lots of lux.
The problem? This base serves the arch villain Rostov and is well protected.
What follows is hair raising.
Author AK Duboff certainly crafted a very immersive plot with intriguing characters...such as the captured villain Damon who gradually discovers some humanity developing in his psyche.
Or the developing relationship between Evan and Anya.
It is anyhow going to grab your attention and keep you in it's grip non stop to the end.
Enjoy.
