We chose each other. Now, we choose war.

The fight is changing. And it’s nothing like I could’ve predicted.

They’ve attacked us in our home and that can only mean one someone has betrayed us.

This war has always been personal, but they won’t hurt my friends. Or the men I call my own.

Aiden. Jackson. Kellan. Dane. I can’t lose any of them—not after what we’ve been through. They’re the only ones I can rely on now.

I thought I could handle it all, but this is bigger than even me. So while they hit us where it hurts, we’ll strike back.

To shut down GE permanently, we’ll have to dismantle them one by one, up to the top. To the president, someone I never would have expected.

I’ll become stronger if that’s what it takes.

But revenge has consequences. And the price it asks of me might me more than I can pay.

Apparently I was wrong and this isn't the last book in the series 😭💔 and the cliffhanger at the end has me destroyed😶💔.

I'm going to go outside and stare at the sky and contemplate what the fuck I just read🚶🏾‍♀️.

Then I'm going to stalk the author on Instagram to see when the next book is being released 🚶🏾‍♀️🙏🏾. That's all 🙂.

Okay, if you know me you know I love a good urban fantasy/urban paranormal story especially if it's a reverse harem. Sign me up right. However they should NEVER. go past a book four. I can't think of a single series that after book four I thought "hmmm book four was for sure needed".

This book was painful filler. We spend time training, doing attacks and banging. We don't see much progress on anything they are doing and we just keep adding more and more and more to this plot. IN BOOk FOUR. When it became obvious that this was not going to wrap up the story, then they steal Dane away and Aiden "dies" I told myself I wouldn't be picking up book five. Which is a bummer since I did like this series.

Another issue I had besides the just long book of filler was the odd sex scene choices? mostly in retaliation to something or a possessive trigger, like mam people can just want to have sex.

overall this series started strong, and I wanted so much more from it but I am tapping out.

The chokehold this series has on me is unreal and this installment did not disappoint. it's fantastic to see how far Raegan has come from the terrified closed off hurt lonely girl she was in book 1 to opening her heart to the guys and her powers and becoming part of their Guild family.

Raegan, Aiden, Jackson, Kellan, and Dane chose each other. Now, they choose war.

They can see the fight is changing and evolving. And it's nothing like Raegan could have ever predicted.

Their enemies have attacked them in their own home and that can only mean one thing, someone has betrayed them.

This war has always been personal, but their enemies are not going to hurt Raegan's friends. Or the men she calls her own.

Aiden, Jackson, Kellan, and Dane, Raegan isn't willing to lose any of them – not after everything they've all been through together. They're the only ones that Raegan can rely on at this point.

Raegan thought she could handle everything, but she knows this is all bigger than her. So, even while they are hitting them where it hurts the most, they are going to strike back with everything they have.

In order to shut down GE once and for all, Raegan and her men know they have to dismantle GE one by one, from the bottom to the top. All the way up to the president, someone Raegan wouldn't have ever expected.

Raegan is going to become stronger if that's what it's going to take.

But, revenge comes with not only a cost but it comes with consequences. And the price of those consequences it asks of Raegan might be more than she can pay.

If you like plot, banter, steam, a strong heroine, and multiple alpha-holes that you don't have to choose between, then this is for you. Remnants is the 4th book in the Raegan of Ruin series by A.L. Rook and I have been waiting for this book since that cliffhanger we were left on in Ramshackle. But, I will be totally honest and say that this one is worse by leaps and bounds. So now I am waiting on pins and needles for how this series is going to end. A.L. Rook has written such an amazing series that has hooked me and left me in its grip and I feel like I am in a vise waiting for the next book.

Remnants was well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A.L. Rook crafted an engaging plot for this installment and put in the perfect amount of action balanced with the right amount of passion and spice. As I was reading this book I was always wanting to know what was going to happen next and where our characters were going to go next and what was going to happen to them. And I can honestly say that I was not left disappointed.

There was a great plot twist, that yes, if you pay attention you can probably guess what it is going to be, but it is still a nice surprise. But, there is still this great tension and angst in the book and I loved that and it was amazing. I just loved it and it was perfectly written.

I loved Raegan so much and my heart just keeps on breaking for her. She deserves nothing but the best and she deserves all the happiness in the world. Jackson and Aidan are so perfect for Raegan and have seen such amazing character development and they are perfectly written and they have been so perfectly fleshed out. And I just love reading that.

I will admit that the cliffhangers that A.L. Rook writes are getting closer and closer to killing me. But, it is the perfect setup for the next book and leaves you in such sweet and delicious tension. I am sitting on pins and needles while I am waiting for the next book and I can't wait to see how this series eventually ends. A.L. Rook is a force to be reckoned with.

I can't recommend A.L. Rook as an author and this series enough. If you like dystopian, paranormal reverse harem's then this is the series for you. I will say it again because I can't say it enough, I can't wait for the next book and I can't wait to see how this series ends. And after this series, I can't wait to see what A.L. Rook writes next. I am sure it's going to be another knockout.

DO NOT START THIS SERIES UNLESS ALL 5 ARE OUT.
When I started Ravage there was no indication that there would be 5 books, and if I had known, I would have waited to start. You do not want to read the end of book 4 without having the next one readily available.

I made the mistake of tearing through these books without writing a review after each one. So this is an overall review of the series (books 1-4). Overall, I love this series. It's a very good balance of contemporary and paranormal elements. The paranormal parts are easy to understand and follow, which I count as a bonus. The basis of the series is a world where there are "gifted" people. Reagan and her guys (Aiden, Jackson, Kellan and Dane) grew up on an island under Gifted Enterprises (the bad guys). Now they're fighting against Gifted Enterprises to take them down to protect the gifted people of the world.

A quick recap/breakdown for each book, as best as I can remember:
Ravage: Reagan is a strong willed and bad ass character that comes in hot. She's been wronged in the past and she's trying to get revenge. She lands in the same city as the guys she grew up with on the island, but it's not all rainbows and butterflies. There's a lot of hatred and unresolved betrayal among them. All 5 of them are trying to take down GE but aren't willing to work together.

Raze: There is a lot of character development. Reagan and the guys start to work together and you start to get a good breakdown of the past trauma and betrayal between all the main characters - and it's not all that it seems.

Ramshackle: Book 3 really starts to pick up. Reagan continues her sacrifices for the guys, which I just don't think are ever appreciated enough. More of her past trauma is revealed and the guys really start to realize how wrong they've been about her. The conflict with GE is really coming to a head in this book and the pace picks up.

Remnants: Finally to the meat and potatoes. Reagan and the guys are fully in sync and working together to take down GE. There is a lot of focus on training and enhancing their powers as well as growing their allies. There was a lot more spice in this book. Reagan is fully engaged with all 4 guys so it's nonstop. I will say that I was not emotionally prepared for this book, specifically the end. They're going up against some of the strongest gifted people in GE so the tension is high and there's a lot to lose.

**I have very much enjoyed all of these books and the overall story. I will forever be upset about not knowing there are 5 before I started. I also think that this entire story could have been paced to fit into 4 books.

“There is no more patience, no more wait and see when it comes to you. I’m one breath away from lighting the world on fire. I don’t need it. Everyone can burn if it means you’ll be safe.”

That cliffhanger might honestly be the worst one yet, and I mean that in the most complimentary, emotionally devastating way possible. This book was incredibly frustrating to read…but not in a bad way. It felt like watching an intense action movie where the tension keeps building, progress is made, and then everything immediately goes wrong, forcing the story to reset and ramp up all over again. Stressful? Absolutely. Compelling? Also yes.

“What do you see when you look at me?”
“A candle in the dark. My guiding light.”

One of my favorite parts of this installment was how strongly the found-family aspect came through. Raegan finally felt settled, not just with her men, but within the guild as a whole, and that sense of belonging really grounded the chaos. I also loved that this book leaned into more tenderness and genuinely sweet moments than I expected. Those softer scenes did a great job balancing out the constant turmoil and made the emotional beats hit even harder.

“Let me be your armor. Your shield. I was always meant to be that, for you.”

The antagonist reveal was a standout moment for me and felt like a much-needed jolt of energy for the series. Up until now, the threat had felt more abstract, so putting a very clear face to it, especially that one, was incredibly impactful. The reveal itself was handled really well and added a new layer of tension that instantly raised the stakes.

“I’ve never seen anything, anyone, and felt even a sliver of what I feel when I look at you, Raegan.”

I also really enjoyed watching Raegan step fully into herself. Seeing her confidence grow as she stopped fearing her gift and started recognizing just how powerful she truly is was deeply satisfying. Along with that growth, it was refreshing to finally see her and the guys fully aligned. Their teamwork felt cohesive and intentional this time around: no one running off solo, no half-communication, just a group that actually functioned as a unit. That shift alone made this book feel like a turning point in the series, even if it ended by absolutely wrecking me.

Raegan of Ruin is such an amazing series. It keeps getting better with each book. Remnants is the fourth book, and it was amazeballs. This is not a series you sleep on.

Romance-wise, this is the book I've been waiting for. Rae and all the guys are finally in a good place. They're communicating, and the relationship has been defined. They're all playful and flirting, and they finally trust each other. This is where I've wanted them for a while. It's not just that; Rae has come a long way. She's no longer running off on solo missions, learning more about her power, and making friends outside of the guys. From the start, I just wanted the best things for her, and now that she's finally getting them, I'm incredibly happy for her.

That being said, not everything is sunshine and roses. Ha, it never is with this group. GE is stepping up their game, and the attacks on the Guild are stronger and more frequent. So there's a lot of action and a lot of zombies. Zombies aren't my thing, but they make sense in this storyline and aren't a predominant feature. Rook is superb at dropping little unexpected bombs throughout her stories, and that hasn't changed. There were more than a few surprises, and the plot twist was incredible. Rook is also good at leaving her reader on some pretty epic cliffhangers. I thought I was used to it. I wasn't. Remnants ended on a scene that stopped my heart dead. To be honest, I'm not sure if everything will be okay. The next book is supposedly the final book in the series, and to quote one of the few horror movies I do watch, "This can be freaking Reservoir Dogs by the time this is through." I can't wait.

⚠️⚠️Review might contain light spoilers, proceed with caution.⚠️ ⚠️

By the stars, that was a rollercoaster of a book and that cliffhanger was intense.

Overall, a great 4th book for the Reagan of Ruin series. When I say it was a rollercoaster, I mean emotionally. I felt everything from frustration - that regardless of all the fighting Reagan, Kellan, Jack, Aiden and Dane did against GE, it felt like they never got a win over them. Always fighting tooth and nail and GE is always just that little bit more powerful. I loathe Charles with a fiery passion and hope his demise is exceptionally satisfying. To feeling joy and happiness that these characters are finding their footing together as a found family and overcoming misunderstandings they assumed years prior. That they are coming together and loving each other. To feeling like my heart was in my throat, with both beautiful conversations between each of the guys and Reagan and simultaneously feeling like they’re always losing against GE. And did I mention that cliffhanger!?😭

Wonderful writing by A.L. Rook and a pure joy to follow along with these characters and their story and watch their character growth. I’m very much looking forward to the 5th and final book with the strong, strong hope that Reagan, Kellan, Jack, Aiden, and Dane finally get sweet justice against GE and have their happily ever after. But man, that cliffhanger is going to stick with me for a while. Well done, A.L. Rook.👏🏻👏🏻

I know I've said this 100+ times, but man, I really think that this series is so slept on, and that makes me so sad because it is such an amazing series!! The characters, story line, spice--I mean, it's all just chef's freaking kiss!

This book picks up right where book 3 left off, and it's like Rook kept her foot on the gas the whole time! I tore through this book and nearly threw my kindle through my wall when I reached the end, because that cliffhanger? brutal!!! While the first three books had me riveted...I actually cried while reading this one. I mean, I didn't boo-hoo sob, but I did lose a few tears...this book makes you feel it all! I was happy, sad, mad, sad again, happy again, horrified...then boom...the end of the book was there, and I am now salivating for the next one.

Seriously, if you love RH books, then you need to give this series a go. It has a little bit of everything in it...second chances (childhood friends growing into something more, to enemies, to lovers), completely capable fmc, yes-sir-daddy mmc, psycho golden retriever mmc, only has eyes for her and will hurt anyone else that looks his way or her way and she is the only one that can heal his trauma mmc, and a nerdy-but oh so hot-mmc. Also, please pay attention to the TWs for this book because it can get a little dark and deals with some subject matter that some could find triggering.

But seriously, this series is soooo good! Like, it is up there in my top 5 RH series of all time!

I'm willing to read 1 more...

Having finished the 4th book, I'm now reflecting back on the first 3 books. I don't write a review on every book. I will mostly write reviews on books I love or hate. Other books, sometimes I'm not sure what to think and I keep reading them to try to work it out. This is one of those series.

I'm now here at book 4 and I'm still not 100% sure what I think. There are positives for sure, the story is reasonably unique compared to other books. There is action, good people, bad people. There are no obvious grammatical errors or typos to distract from the storyline.

I think my problem is that I don't particularly connect with the main characters or even like them that much. Having just finished a terrible, feels like hopeless situation cliffhanger...while I am interested to see what happens next, my thought is, the next book better be the last one because my attention for this series is about finished. I'm not invested in these characters, I don't find them amusing and I don't think they have a lot of depth.

I'm sure there will be a lot of people who still like this series. I'm not going to give it a terrible score because I don't think it deserves that. If you like stories where people have different powers and live in a dangerous world with people trying to kill them out take advantage of them, you might like this book.

I…I just don’t even know what to say. Every time I think AL Rook can’t give us more angst and drama in this series, she proves me wrong. In Remnants, book 4 of the Reagan of Ruin series, things heat up even more between the Guild and GE...to a boiling point, some would say.

This why choose/RH dark urban fantasy has an MMC for everyone’s taste, and Reagan shows us even more of her bad*ssery too! I truly love the entire cast of characters in this series, and appreciate immensely that the author has developed them enough for us (as readers) to connect to them on top of our main 5.

To say this one will leave you shocked is the understatement of the century. Edging is a consistent theme of this series, much to my delight, buttt I’m ready for the cliffhangers to maybe relax and give the answers I’m desperately seeking. I audibly gasped at the end of this one and yelled “NO!” Like that would make a difference.
This series is the edging of a lifetime. So much suspense. Passion. Romance. Action. Desperation.

I love it. I need a palate cleanser or I’ll end up grumpy during my next fantasy read.

Thank you as always, to the crazy talented AL Rook for the gifted review copy. I freaking NEED book 5!!!

This part of the series hit me right in the solar plexus.

It is book 4 in the Raegan of Ruin series and each book just gets better.

The book picks right up where book 3 left off with a banger of a last line that had my jaw dropping. This is the one that revolves around the theme of rising to fight in a war for freedom. Raegan and her guys do everything possible to give themselves a chance to live the lives they deserve while bein who they are without oppression.

From the beginning, Raegan caught my attention. She's vulnerable and relatable in a way that tugs at my heart. She went through hell and back to be able to stand up for herself. She didn't back down from doing what she knew was right and trying to take down Gifted Enterprises. She's claimed a special place for me and I will reread this series over and over again, simply to watch the character grow and change into who she was meant to be!

This book just makes me love Raegan even more. She doesn't let the guys push her around or cut her out in the name of protection. She steps up and makes them see her as an equal partner, not someone who needs saving because she's already saved herself in so many ways.

I highly recommend this series if you love magic and urban fantasy!

This series is everything I crave in a why-choose dark urban fantasy—fierce loyalty, high-stakes betrayal, steamy tension, and a heroine who refuses to back down, no matter the cost.

Raegan is the kind of character who grabs your heart and doesn’t let go, and in this book, her strength and vulnerability are both on full display as the war turns brutal and personal.

The emotional intensity between Raegan and her men—Aiden, Jackson, Kellan, and Dane—deepens in ways that feel raw and real. Their bond is tested in the fire of betrayal and loss, and I was hooked by every twist, every secret revealed. The action is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the cliffhanger? Devastating in the best way.

A. L. Rook knows exactly how to blend plot, passion, and power into a story that leaves you breathless and begging for more. This series just keeps getting better, and I cannot wait for the final book. If you're into strong heroines, complex relationships, and the kind of dark magic that leaves scars, Remnants is your next obsession.

A.L. books always wreck me, why do I keep doing this to myself?!? OHH... because she is amazing!!!

Remnants was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. There were moments I felt pure frustration—like no matter how hard Reagan, Kellan, Jack, Aiden, and Dane fought, GE just kept winning. It felt so unfair, and I hated how powerless they seemed at times. And don’t even get me started on Charles—I need his ending to be absolutely brutal.

But what made this book so special was the emotional depth. The way Reagan and her guys are learning to trust again, to love each other more openly, more honestly... it broke me and healed me all at once. Their bond is everything. Some of those quiet, tender moments between them hit me harder than the fights.

And then that cliffhanger?? I’m still not okay.

A.L. Rook’s writing just gets better with each book. She captures pain, love, rage, and loyalty so beautifully. I’m not ready for this series to end, but I am so ready for Reagan and her men to finally get their win. Book five can’t come fast enough.

5 star ARC read 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I have been eagerly awaiting Remnants after the cliffhanger of Ramshackle but this one is infinitely worse. I am even more desperate to know how this series will end now.

I really enjoyed Remnants and it is written well. The plot was good and engaging and had the right amount of action and spice. I was constantly wanting to know what was going to happen next and I was not disappointed.

I did guess the plot twist but it still surprised me in many ways and I enjoyed the tension.

Raegan continues to break my heart and I love her so much. She deserves the world. Jackson is still my favourite but Aidan is definitely creeping up there. The character development is really well written and it's nice to see the characters fully fleshed out.

I would definitely reccomend this book and series to anyone who likes dystopian/paranormal RH. I cannot wait to read what happens next.

ARC Review

These cliffhangers are going to kill me one day, but they’re definitely worth it! Remnants continues the thrilling journey of Raegan and the guys as they face new challenges that test their strength and loyalty. The tension is palpable, and every twist kept me on the edge of my seat.

I love how Raegan evolves throughout the story, becoming even more formidable as she navigates betrayal and conflict. The dynamics between her and the other characters deepen, making their relationships feel real and engaging.

The plot is action-packed and full of surprises, with high stakes that leave you breathless. Rook masterfully explores themes of revenge and the personal costs that come with it, adding emotional depth to the narrative.

Overall, Remnants is a captivating continuation of the series, blending action, romance, and suspense seamlessly. The cliffhanger left me eager for the next installment! If you enjoy dark urban fantasy with strong characters, this book is a must-read!

So I struggled to read this book. Not because it's bad, gosh no! It's amazing! Life just kept life-ing and interrupting me. I swear, every time I'd get good and invested BOOM - life happened. Stupid job and responsibilities. 😒🙄

I adore how AL Rook writes, it's so real. The emotions, the verbiage, the spice. Lord have mercy, the spice y'all! 🥵🥵🥵 Our girl and her guys are finally figuring out how to be, her with them, them with her, with Aiden being all possessive and the other guys trying to teach him to share. And fighting off GE all at the same time.

I'm not sure but I feel pretty safe in saying, this book ends with the worst cliffhanger yet. I'm sure I've said a thing or two about cliffies with the other books in this series. But this, THIS one is the worst! I'm not sure my fingers have the strength to help me hold on til the next book but Lord knows imma try. (Is the next book ready already?? 🥺😂)

I can’t say enough how this is my new favorite paranormal series. I can’t get enough! The storyline is amazing and so are the characters and their backgrounds. I love how different and creative the powers are that the author came up with.

The storyline is also fresh and keeps you guessing. Sometimes I can guess how something is going to end up and the author always has something that takes me by surprise and pulls me in further. At the end of each book I am literally salivating for more and this one was no different. I am sad to the end in the next book can’t wait to find out what happens.

My hope is that based on how some of the other characters are written is that we will be blessed with storylines in the same universe because I am NOT ready to let it go. The books are spicy (5 stars) but more than that they are spice with PLOT that does not let you down. Please don’t sleep on this series. It is completely worth the book hangover.

I feel like this author wants to become the new queen of cliffhangers… Seriously, that ending is going to haunt me until I can finally get my hands on the next book. It practically made me forget everything I’ve read before that final scène, which is a little sad since I’ve read some fascinating spicy scenes before we got here…

With this being a slightly longer series, Remnants isn’t the final book yet. But thanks to the multiple books, the author really takes her time to show the personal growth Raegan and her men go through. The way they are slowly becoming a true unit while fighting GE along every step of the way is amazing to watch. I love seeing them getting a better grip on their powers, and having a handsome teacher like Jackson is a nice little extra…

I’m not sure what the final book in this series will bring after the ending of this one, but I’m very excited to find out!

I’m utterly obsessed with this series! Even though Rook insists on leaving us with cliffhangers that have us desperately foaming at the mouth for the next and final book in this series, I can’t help but love every second of it. The characters continue to grow with each book, becoming stronger and more complex versions of themselves. Rook has an incredible way of pulling you into the story and keeping you there. I devoured this book from start to finish.
I especially love seeing the group finally start to figure out how to make their dynamic work. I’ll admit, Aiden is really starting to grow on me in this book. But I’ve said it from the beginning, and I’ll say it again (and die on this hill): Jackson is absolute perfection.
I cannot wait to see this crew finally take down GE and get the HEA they deserve.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Miss Rook you are the QUEEN of the cliffhangers.

This book picks up right in the midst of the battles that book 3 ended on, and it just didn’t stop!

The action, the heartbreak, the pain, and the SPICE.

Now, I’m definitely a Jackson girlie but this book may have turned me into an Aiden girlie too.

And that ending? Ma’am I will be sending you my therapy bills (iykyk).

Can’t wait to read the finale!!

“No matter what happens, the five of us will prevail. I swear this to you, Raegan….Because for as long as we’ve known one another, I’ve wanted you. I’ve loved you” - Aiden

“You will always gave me. Until every star in the sky burns out. There will never be a me without you.” - Jackson

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!
I knew it would be bad; it was going too well. They were happy, in love, building a future with friends and found family. I did not know it would be this bad. My heart is broken.

“You will always have me. Until every star in the sky burns out. There will never be a me without you.”

You, A. L. Rook, not only found the cliffhanger or edge or whatever you want to call it and flung me over!

“You’re the only one who can set my blood on fire. The only one who’s ever made me breathless. Who makes me lose my head in emotions I can barely understand because I’ve never felt them so profoundly before.”

Tears!

This is book 4 in the Raegan of Ruin series and omg it didn’t disappoint!! I swear these books just keep getting better and better as the series goes on. It started off right where book 3 ended. Which is something I absolutely love! It continues on with their fight against GE and there are some pretty huge plot twists that come about. The tension and the spice between Raegan and her men was off the hook and addictive! Rae got to interact with the Guild more and found herself feeling like she belongs and gets a sense of family. I absolutely cannot wait for book 5 and see what happens after that HEART-SHATTERING cliffhanger!

This series is BY FAR, the best series I've ever read in this genre! Book 4 has absolutely blown my mind! All the information, answers to questions, and secrets revealed made this one such an amazing read. I absolutely love the story progression, all the twists I didn't see coming, the guys and Reagan's relationships evolving, and all the action in between. The ending tore my heart out and stomped on it, I never would of imagined it would end there. That was one bizarre cliffhanger, and once I finished I literally just sat and stared at the wall for a while. Now that I've got my mind back from reeling, I'll be patiently waiting for the last book of the series to find out how it ends.

This series has me in an absolute chokehold and is one of my all time faves. It’s got the hottest spice and an amazing plot to go with it. Like the first books in the series, this one had me absolutely shocked by the ending. And then mad because there wasn’t more book. Raegan, Dane, Aiden, Kellan and Jackson continue the fight against GE and spend the entire time on the defensive. I love the resolution we get with some of the other characters and that we get so much more from Aiden in this book. Time to start the waiting game again as impatiently waiting for the next book to come out.

I have been waiting, mostly patiently for this book and it did not disappoint. I was lucky enough to get an arc copy. I had so many questions answered in this book. For me this series has been so unique and I’m so glad I found it back when the first book came out, minus having to wait for each book. Each book has ended on a cliffhanger and this one is no different. I feel like this wait for the last book is gonna be the hardest yet. A.L. Rook is for an author whose books are always gonna be an instant add to my TBR list for me.

That cliffhanger was intense! This entire series has been a roller coaster ride of emotions. Raegan, Kellan, Dane, Aiden, and Jackson are fully committed to each other at this point. And now they fight together to stop Charles and GE Enterprises. So many things happen in this part of the story. I don't want to give any of it away. I am impatiently waiting on the next book and hope that they can catch a break and find their HEA. A.L. Rook has made the last as one of my all-time favorite writers with this series. It is a definite must-read.
