Third title in the 'Bound by A WEB OF WYRD' trilogy, a dark-themed retelling of vampire origin based on Norse Gods in a modern, post-Ragnarǫk setting.
What if fate forced you to share your soulmate? Could it kill you, slowly, from the inside?
Despite the truce they have struck, Kjan remains in constant struggle with his Sire over their common affection for Eve. But their cease-fire is threatened by more than increasing
A debt is owed, and the Raven has come to collect.
Hrafni’s existence has gone unacknowledged for long enough. He, too, is a misfit. A reject. A social and racial outsider forced to wither in the shadow of his heritage since the day he was born. Not unlike the Godling. And when the stranger from an equally infamous bloodline makes Kjartan an offer that’s hard to resist, betrayal becomes tempting.
But he’s not the only one with a debt to repay.
Owing the Gods for a personal favor, Kjan is tasked to prevent the two from joining forces. While he questions where his Sire’s loyalties truly lie, he’s left with no one to trust. Not even Eve.
Alone, he must fight his enemy within and without… or die trying.
Readers are encouraged to check the author's note inside the book for trigger warnings.
Kjan and Eve's story comes to a close with Oath Bound. And it's wrapped up nicely. Did I think I would CRY? NO, HOW DARE YOU RENATE.
I wanted to beat up Kjan at moments. A lot of moments. But his arc is done beautifully, as is Eve's. Even Kjartan has an arc. He grew on me so much more in this one.
The Norse mythos and a hint of heathenism was so refreshing to read about in a "vampire" book. Love it.
*Maybe some spoilers, especially if you have not read the first two books*
I have loved these characters since the moment I first opened up Blood Bound and it's crazy that this is the end. I was so anxious and excited to read this book, but I found myself reading this slowly. Savoring every moment and letting it all unfold. The romance and steam between Kjan and Eve, the miscommunication and secrets, coming together and falling apart. I was close to tears so many times and ready to throw hands even more, lol!
Kjartan was an interesting character for me and I say this next part affectionally. I had sympathy for him in Soul Bound, yet still didn't like him that much because he was coming between Kjan and Eve. I wanted to shake him by the shoulders and tell him to move along. Let my favorite characters have their happily ever after. Even though he was causing just as much conflict in this book, I could appreciate the growth in his "humanity" and all the decisions he came to make in the end. I think one of my favorite storylines in this was seeing the slow unraveling of Kjan as he struggled to deal with Kjartan's presence in his mind. I thought this was done so well, I physically ached reading some of the scenes.
Eve has grown so much since she was turned. It was great to see her standing up for herself, voicing her thoughts and desires, and not taking sh!t from anyone. She still took time and stepped back when she needed to build herself back up, but she was the pilar that was strong enough to carry Kjan through the darkness. I think the reason I love Kjan and Eve's relationship so much is because they both have their issues, but when one crumbled, the other was there to pick up the pieces. They fought and bled for each other and accepted the other exactly as they were. Scars and bruises and all. Perfect soul mates.
I really enjoyed how everything was tied together. Little sentences or scenes from the first two books that didn't seem to have deeper meaning, all of a sudden made a lot more sense. I was so blown away by one reveal in particular, I was screaming in my room. There was so much information about Norse mythology woven in, becoming such a huge part of the story. It was all leading to this. And so many doors have been opened after that ending. I'm so excited this universe will be continuing with the characters that have been introduced. Lucas is intriguing and I have always liked Kristjan for some reason. He's a steady giant that I would love to know more about.
Wherever this goes, I will be reading. Renate's writing has a unique feeling to it - it is very strong and powerful and sweeps me away. The pages always fly by and I get pulled into every story and character. This trilogy has been one of the best vampire / paranormal romance series I have ever read, and I cannot wait for more!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
This review is going to be pretty short because I just have no words.
From the very moment I picked up the first book in this series I was hooked. Oath Bound did not disappoint and I was hooked from the very first page.
Renate just has a really special way of building the world and the characters that I just find myself so invested in the story.
Honestly the only thing I can say is WOW!! I will now be entering my book hangover. While that happens I strongly encourage you to read this series but start at the start or your gonna ruin the whole thing for yourself and not have a clue what's happening.
*Thank you to Renate Rowland for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oath Bound… The pivotal ending to the Bound By A Web Of Wyrd trilogy. I honestly cannot believe I have received ARC’s for each of the books in this series. It completely blows my mind that I have been able to follow Eve and Kjan from the beginning, and now have had the chance to read their ending… Oh my… What a beautiful ending!
After Soul Bound, Eve and Kjan’s story continues to be full of turmoil. Their relationship is pushed in so many different directions. With so many things being thrown their way, I often wondered if they would come out of it. Kjartan gets a redemption arc throughout this book that makes readers root for his success. I loved his ending, and how it felt like everything came full circle for him in a way.
Eve takes her vampire status up to full fledged Queen. The way she carries herself and the struggles of everyone around her. Even when interacting with Gods, she doesn’t back down and she holds her own. Her ability to be solid and consistent throughout this book was the perfect contrast to Kjan’s unraveling. While he stumbled a lot throughout this book, his past took us readers on a journey that brought in so much Norse Mythology. I loved it! We get to learn so much important information about the history of these characters and the Gods’ roles in it all.
We do get a couple chapters in new POV’s, which makes me so excited to think we might be getting books from different members of the coven! I loved how some chapters would be broken up into more than one POV, it complimented the flow of the story. I am a huge fan of Renate Rowland’s writing, and I’m very much looking forward to anything else she decides to put out into the world!
Just as amazing as the first two books! This trilogy is everything I could have hoped for a more! An amazing read that takes you on a full rollercoaster! I could never recommend this series enough!!! A full 5 stars! If I could give more I would.
LISTEN! If you are looking for a series with a distinctive origin story for Vampires filled with Norse Mythology, found family and fated mates where the Hero and Villian share the girl (not in a why choose kind of way, but in a reluctant love triangle of sorts), then may I introduce you to your latest obsession?! This is the third and final book in the Web of Wyrd trilogy, I HIGHLY recommend reading book 1, 2 and the prequel prior to starting this one or not only will you be lost, but you will ruin the story. This is a spicy romance with triggers, please review the warnings prior to indulging.
This installment continues with Kjan, who is struggling to maintain the truce with his sire for the love of Evie. With a new threat arriving at their doorstep seeking to disrupt the delicate balance, the peace may not last. While a newcomer steps out of the shadows, loyalties are tested, sanity is questioned and a debt is to be paid all while the strain on his relationships may just cost him his life. Can the trio defeat the impending doom together or will Kjan take on this path alone?
When the series finale, Oath Bound, was announced I was excited and devastated at the same time. Excited because I get to go back into one of my favorite series of all time and experience the world of the Eve and her men. On the flip side, I am heartbroken because the story is now complete and I will never again get to experience this series for the first time. This installment was just as good if not better than its predecessors with masterful writing that had me on an emotional ride that captivated my heart and soul. What am I supposed to do with my life now Renate??
Oath Bound by Renate Rowland is book three in the Web of Wyrd Series. I was anxiously awaiting reading this third installment yet was really looking forward to see how everything tied up in the end. I will mention two things about the story: the first being you must read the books in order and the second being to check your trigger warnings. To be completely honest I was not prepared to tear up during reading it was a shocker! But I was so invested in this story and the characters. Kjan drove me bonkers! There was times if I could I would have reached out and shook his shoulders. But his arc was just so well done. It was great to see Eve standing up for herself! She was a source of strength for Kjan and I loved it. The writing is just so good with what I feel is just a unique spin on a vampire retelling. There were times it gave me the one more chapter syndrome where I just had to keep reading. Overall I had an amazing reading experience with all the books in this trilogy. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the author. Highly recommend it!
A beautiful end to a wonderful trilogy. This ticked so many boxes for me. The stakes were high, the fights were bliss, the HEA was well worked for. I can’t tell you how many times I had to put it down to have a good cry, or how often I had to message Renate for a quick ‘How Dare You????!!!!!! 😡🤬’ and honestly I would not have it any other way. I had a good laugh that Kjan’s nerdiness wore off on Eve in her seemingly random animal facts that were 100000% called for.
And Kjan? Troubled and broken in the best of ways. His arc is one of my absolute favorites as he finally learns how to be strong enough to be vulnerable. Even when he’s being naughty ((looking at you, Renate)), I can’t hate him. Far from it. Every time he breaks down and does the wrong thing, you feel for why he’s doing it. Ugh, just absolute top tier. I will never stop recommending this trilogy.
What a journey these books have been, I went through so many emotions reading them! This one was no different, the healing in this book omgg. I’m here for it, it was all amazing.
Kjan and Eve. Their story will have me in a chokehold forever now. I gotta say I love how Kjan remained his grumpy self always. But wow is he in love, he’s passionate and there was so much pain, I just felt for him.
Eve is the sunshine and I loved her! She will always be a favorite character for me. I’m pretty obsessed with her! She’s so sweet, strong and understanding and she never gave up on Kjan. Them together is just a powerhouse.
The plot was amazing. Like the other two books this one was very fast paced and hard to put down! There’s spice, twists, action, this book had me so emotional, and lots of swoon worthy moments!
If you want a trilogy that will pull you in from the start, with vampires, Norse Mythology, and beautiful writing that will make you feel every emotion possible…pick up these books!
💚Final in a trilogy 🖤Norse Mythology 💚Vampire Origin 🖤Multiple POVs 💚Fated Mates 🖤Hero and villain are forced to share (not why choose) 💚Found Family 🖤More Magic and other Skills 💚Hidden Identity 🖤Villain from an Infamous Bloodline
I’ve been hooked since Blood Bound and have followed along ever since. Renate has a way of building a world and characters that just completely sucks you in.
I love Kjan and Eve’s connection. They’ve been through so much, and seeing how everything played out had me glued to the pages. It was emotional, intense, and honestly everything I was hoping for.
Definitely read the other two books first so you can fully enjoy this one. Such a solid series, I highly recommend!
• Vampire PNR/urban fantasy. Norse Gods/Goddess. Norse rituals depicted. • Dark themes. Heed author’s trigger warnings. • Emotional rollercoaster. Plenty of drama & angst, betrayal, suspense, violence, twists. Explicit sex. • Enjoyed Hrafni’s character, along with his unique magical abilities. • Ending felt a little too saccharine and neatly wrapped up, considering all the trials and sacrifices that led up to it. • Looking forward to the spin-off series.
I have been hooked on this series since the very first book and let me tell you oath bound does not disappoint in anyway. A full on roller coaster ride vampires mixed with Norse mythology 👌fated mates, found family and lots of tears. A must read trilogy
I loved this book and I’m so happy with how everything played out. I was along for the ride with all the struggles each main character had. And the way we see Kjan struggle had me in tears.
Ummm also, I need more of Luke in my life. I really need to know his story.
