Finished the first story by Jodi Lynn Copeland. It was ok. Some hot sex and an ok story I would have liked to seen longer. This is why I'm not a big fan of short stories.

I either like the characters a lot and want more or the story is so short I dont end up liking them much at all!

Ok I liked the 2nd story by Lauren Dane a lot. I would have loved to have seen a longer story for Nash and Dahlia and some of the other characters.

Just finished the 3rd story by Kit Tunstall and it was ok. Started out really slow but I liked it more by the end. On to the last story.

The last story by Anya Bast was pretty good. I gave this overall 3 stars. I just never seem to like shorts like much.

The Lauren Dane story was my favorite. No surprise because I always seem to really like her characters.

So I read 3 out of the 4 stories in this anthology.

Hot for you by Jodi Lynn Copeland
1 star

One of my favorite themes Best Friends to lovers with alternating POV's another thing I love. Unfortunately NONE of it worked!

Red Handed by Kit Tunstall
2 stars

Better but not great.

Stripped by Lauren Dane
!!!!!!!!!! 5 STARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This little story is a gem. I loved the hero and his tenacious pursuit of Dahlia. Dane is so good she had me liking the name Dahlia and wishing Nash for myself.

The plot is a bit Pretty woman esq. Just minus the hooker and insert the stripper but it works. Some great secondary characters and a wonderful HEA Stripped was a winner for me.

I was also very intrigued by Nash's moody brother with a mysterious and angsty past. ( I so hope he has a book)

Every single story had me shaking my head. If I never ever ever ever EVER have to read about another bodily orifice *creaming* ever again it will be too soon. Lauren Dane's story was (by far) the best of the bunch; maybe a three star read on its own. However, the other three were Not Good. Lackluster plotting and characterization and, frankly, repetitive sex scenes that were porn-y in the worst, most over-the-top ridiculous way. Not for me. I've actually put off writing this review for a week because I disliked the book so much.

Counting this book for 2020 PopSugar Reading challenge for category: anthology. I may as well get SOMEthing out of it.

The first 2 stories were not worth my time (Hot for you & Stripped). The last two were the 3star worthy stories. Not crude like the first story or as rushed in the writing as the second story. Overall, you're not missing anything by skipping this book of shorts.

Title: Hot For You
Author: Jodi Lynn Copeland
Rating: D

Carinna is a cocktail waitress at the Casino, The Liege. She has had feelings for her good friend Jack for as long as she can remember. Four months ago she and Jack had a night of passion. From that night forward their friendship has become stilled and weird. Carinna wants to for things to go back to the way they were before they had sex. Jack has other plans and wants to move forward.

Hot for You was my least favorite story of the anthology. Carinna and Jack both alternate narrating the story. Much of their narration is spent lusting after the other. I didn’t like Carinna or Jack, so that made it difficult for me to like their story. Both of these characters came across as very slutty. Carinna has commitment issues and likes her sex dirty. So she has been around the block a time or two. Some of the sex scenes in the book made me uncomfortable. One thing that really grossed me out was that both of these characters have been very promiscuous in their past, but neither one once had protected sex during this book.

Title: Stripped
Author: Lauren Dane
Rating: B+

Dahlia is a burlesque dancer at an upscale club. The owner’s brother Nash Emery sees Dahlia’s performance and makes a pass at her. She puts him in his place with a seething cut to let him know that she might be a dancer, but she is not a prostitute. Seeing there is a lot more to Dahlia than her bodacious body, he is intrigued by her. He devotes himself to getting into her good graces and woo her.

Stripped was probably the mildest story of the bunch. Even though Dahlia is attracted to Nash she takes her time getting to know him. She isn’t the type of girl to just jump into bed with just anyone. She is afraid of getting hurt by Nash, who is known as a playboy. Nash is tired of the string of women who don’t really know anything about him. He is lonely and wants somebody to know the “real” him. I liked both of these characters. Dahlia had a chip on her shoulder about Nash’s rich background. That is the main conflict between them and one that they work out in this story. I like how Nash handled Dahlia’s insecurities.

Title: Red Handed
Author: Kit Tunstall
Rating: B-

Amy is caught cheating at Roulette in Roan Cavello’s casino. He has his security men escort her to his interrogation room. Eventually they strike a deal where Amy will pay off her debt to Roan by being his submissive mistress for six weeks.

Red Handed started off badly, but then improved as the story went on. In the beginning it was a little creepy how Roan was attracted to Amy and vice versa. A large suspension of disbelief was needed. I found it hard to believe that Amy would find Roan attractive in her situation. Once I got past that, the story started to engross me and these two people seemed to fit well together. I liked seeing Roan who keeps very tight control of himself lose it when he finds Amy threatened by a client of his.

Title: The Deal
Author: Anya Bast
Rating: B

Cassidy was stood up at the altar by her fiancé Damian a year ago. Since then she has been good friends with James Carter finding herself attracted to him more than just as friends. She is afraid of ruining her friendship with him by taking it to the next level. Jack has no such qualms and proposes a “friends with benefits” deal. For the next five nights they play a round of blackjack and whoever wins gets to choose the sexual encounter.

The Deal was a fun story. Jack and Cassidy are normal, likable people. Cassidy has her hang-ups though. She is really worried about getting hurt again so she doesn’t want to get close to anyone. Jack is having none of it though and does his bet to win her over. The sex was pretty creative and yet the author conveyed that it wasn’t just the sex, but a connection between the two characters. Eventually, Cassidy has to confront her past in order to move on and she does.

Anthology - I'll review as I go.

Hot for You by Jodi Lynn Copeland. Carinna and Jack are old friends who hook up when her dad dies and then he fights his feelings and then she fights her feelings and then they finally give up and go for it. Very sweet, sexy story.

Stripped by Lauren Dane. Dahlia works at Nash's brother's burlesque show. Nash is instantly attracted to her but comes on to her the wrong way. They slowly get to know each other and fall in love even with their have and have-not differences. Loved this story.

Red-Handed by Kit Tunstall. Amy helps her cousin cheat at a casino, gets caught and has to repay the casino owner with sexual favors. A little far fetched, but anyway. She discovers she likes to be sub to his dom (while I'm going 'ouchy' as I read). Unsatisfying and unrealistic ending.

The Deal by Anya Bast. Best friends Cassidy and James try to move their friendship forward. She's been hurt so he's trying to take it slow. Lovely story.

3 out of the 4 stories were great, one was good. Would recommend this book.

What Happens in Vegas… is actually a pretty good novel, but I wouldn’t say it is light reading. Again, the other three authors were new to me, but I’m familiar with Anya Basts’ work. Of the other three authors, I’m definitely intrigued by Lauren Dane. Of the four stories, I think I enjoyed hers the most and I’m going to be adding a couple of her books to my TBR list. The other two authors, I haven’t made up my mind yet. I think I would need to read something else by them before I could make any judgments. However, if you’re looking for something to make you hot and bothered, then you should get this anthology.

It's hard to rate this book, since it has 4 different storys and 4 authors, but I'll give it a try.

Hot For you by Jodi Lynn Copeland- I didn't like it. I mean is it just me, that Carinna was just easy...yeah I'll stop with that, because I wont be nice if I continue.

Stripped by Lauren Dane- I really liked it :) It was such a nice fairytale. Very nicely written.:D

Red Handed by Kit Tunstall- it was interesting. The reason why people should never say never...is that you really don't know what you'll do in weird situations..Like Amy discovered.

The Deal by Anya Bast- Can friends with beneficts work? Or will it turn out to be much more? Nice story :)

Nice read-once. Multi-author anthology all set in Vegas, mostly at the fictitious Liege Casino. Stories are mostly long on sex and short on plot with generally interesting but stereotypical characters. The stories are generally fun, filled with people doing the wrong things for all the right reasons and the right things for all the wrong reasons. I understand there is a paranormal sequel although I haven't seen it.

So I've read the Jodi Lyn Copeland story... I didn't finish it. it was not good for me. Personally I think the girl was way too slutty, it's supposed to be erotica but I really was thinking about how dirty she sounded and that maybe he should get checked. The Lauren Dane story is why this book gets more than 1 star. Very good. Loved Dahlia and Nash. The Kit Tunstall story was ok. The D/s aspect of it was nice. The last one Anya Bast was ok so. I did kinda want to kick the girl in the head though. First she wants it and gets it then it's all guilty and we can't do it again. Blah

I liked this 4-story collection better than the "after dark" sequel that I read first. This set is strictly contemporary romance, no supernatural stuff. I again felt the story by Anya Bast was easily the best written of the bunch (and was my favorite), followed by the one from Lauren Dane. The other two were inconsistent in plot and character, and extra-crass. I'm fully aware this is an erotic collection, but there's a difference between sexy hot and off-putting crass. 3.5 stars for stories 2&4, 2 stars for the rest.

4 stories of Las Vegas -

stripper/MBA student hooks up with rich brother of the club's owner... a nice story of falling in love, learning about oneself, taking risks.

a cocktail waitress who dreams of opening a B&B, a fireman who dreams of opening up a car restoration shop... best friends, who take things to the next level. (and he comes in second place at a poker tournament, winning enough to buy property for both their dreams)

dumped at the altar, wants sex for sex sake alone... til her friend challenges her to 5 nights of blackjack, winner chooses sex fantasyto be fulfilled.

This book was a fun quick read. The stories are cute and are what they are: some hot erotica novellas light on plot (because you can't be too heavy within a novella) with fun characters. They were all rather the same to me (I didn't like one story better than the other), and none will probably stick out much two books down the road, but they were still worth a good bedtime read before sleep!

I liked Lauren Dane and Anya Bast's stories best in this anthology. Jodi Lynn Copeland's heroine pissed me off & I didn't finish her story, and Kit Tunstall's story just didn't appeal to me so I skipped it. I'd say Anya Bast's story was my favorite, because I really felt the chemistry and the heat between the h/h. That story pushed my rating from 2 to 3 stars.

This is book with 4 stories. Each were okay, and the change of narrators kept it interesting. I felt like there should have been a sequel to each story. And overall they were good, but slightly more blah then ahh.... so not disappointed in spending the money for the audio book, but not enticed to purchase another.

I was expecting this to be a lot hotter than it was. Some of the characters were hard to care about and some of the stories just didn't work.
