Revenge is red. Berries are blue. When murder darkens the festival— Will there be one victim or two?
Misty Harbor’s annual Blueberry Festival kicks off with stacks of syrupy pancakes, crumbly scones, and the rich aroma of blueberry balsamic vinegar. But the celebration curdles when Dani Mackenzie stumbles over a body behind the berry bushes.
The victim is no stranger—and a suspicious splash of vinegar leads Dani and her feisty Jack Russell terrier, Pip, straight to Christy Golden, a vendor and Dani’s own employee. Christy confesses that the dead man had been harassing her at the Little Dog Diner, and now the police are hungry for justice—with Christy as their prime suspect. Determined to prove her friend isn't the missing ingredient in a revenge plot, Dani starts mixing up theories and sifting through festival goers for clues. With Pip sniffing out details the police overlooked, it’s clear the real killer is still stirring up trouble.
Can Dani unravel the mystery before another victim is buried beneath the blueberries?
Tons of action and shenanigans when there’s a murder at the town festival and a surprise wedding to pull off. Somehow everything works out with a little help from friends and family. Enjoyable read. Good balance between sleuthing and investigating. So happy for Maggie and AJ. Definitely some great surprises and lots of adorable doggie moments.
This is the first book that I have read by this author, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be reading more. The writing was smooth and flowed well, making it easy to read. The characters were well-developed and personable. There was a lot going on in the storylines, but they came together beautifully at the end with a surprise ending. Now I’m going back and reading Book 1!
I came for the dogs and stayed with the series for the characters. You'll get to meet and know them early on as the initial chapters seem to be dealing with setting up the situation and introducing us to the cast of characters. In other words, even if new to the series, you'll quickly feel at home. In this case, the situation as we open is set in Misty Harbor's annual Blueberry Festival, hosted on property belong to Luke's family. He's being run rather ragged dealing with everything but shows his ability cope and deal with just about anything, even a murder. Who killed food truck owner Harvey and dumped his body in the fields? He's a nasty sort, a troublemaker, someone who has made Dani's employee Christy's life miserable for some time. Parked barely ten paces from Christy's tent at the festival where she planned to debut her vinegar focused creations, he'd just destroyed much of her inventory before stomping off and, ultimately, winding up dead. Needless to say, that make Christy a prime suspect. Dani isn't having that, though, and though distracted by her own booth and issues, promises to help investigate. After all, it was Dani and best friend Maggie the PI who found Harvey's body, well, with the help of their barking dogs. Trust me, that's not the last you'll hear of these dogs as the plot progresses though much of it is far more fun.
I won't detail the plot, there are plenty of twists and turns. AJ is caught up in the investigation as is his detective girlfriend, Maggie. Her energy and focus is enough to wear me out just reading. Good thing she has her trusty Labrador, Sherlock Bones, at her side. Or, maybe not. Nope, not explaining that one. You'll just have to read to see what happens. Dani finds herself ping-ponging from one suspect to the next, discovering how very disliked Harvey was by so many. Even an ex-girlfriend has nothing good to say about him. It was interesting to see Dani's focus shift gears from one suspect to the other, never quite deleting them from the suspect list. In fact, seems like that list grew rather than shrank. Christy isn't helping, either, being secretive and nervous. Does she know who did it? Heck, did she do it? If not, why does she go missing at one point? Will Dani's trusty Jack Rusell Pip and his trusty nose sniff out any clues? I honestly think AJ needs to add him to the police force. He's that good. Protective, too, fortunately for Dani. And, who....oh, enough teasers.
Bottom line, it's a fun, relatively quick read. You'll like the characters and want to scratch those doggies' ears before all is said and done. And, oh, stay tuned at the end for a fun gathering. Shh, it's a secret. You'll find out why, too. Thanks #BookSirens and author #EmmieLyn for allowing me an early peek at what's going on at the Little Dog Diner and around Misty Harbor. All that blueberry talk makes me want some!
Rolling up Revenge is the 9th book in Emmie Lyn’s fun cozy mystery series, Little Dog Diner. The series features Dani Mackenzie and her sweet dog Pip. As the book opens, there is a Blueberry Festival in Misty Harbor, Maine. Dani has a booth for her Little Dog Diner sweet treats, lobster rolls and clam chowder. Her employee Christy has a booth where she’s selling her new vinegars. Her booth was supposed to be next to Dani’s but instead she was assigned a spot next to Harvey‘s subs. He has been rude and bothering her and she and her husband Chad have been angry about it. Then, Harvey broke many of her vinegar bottles at the festival and he was reported to AJ the police detective. Another woman at the festival, Penny, who had broken up with Harvey, had her business ruined by him. One of the men helping load booths at the festival, Archie, was not happy after he lost his town position to Harvey several years earlier. Dani and her PI friend Maggie had taken a break from the booth with their dogs and they discovered Harvey’s body. They called AJ, who is also Maggie’s fiancée, to come and investigate.
Dani and her grandmother Rose, her friend Sue Ellen, her husband Luke and Maggie started discussing who could have killed Harvey. There are several suspects on their list - Penny, Archie, Christy and Chad. Dani learns from AJ’s partner that he wants to have a surprise wedding the next day for Maggie since she hasn’t made progress on setting it up. So she enlists the help of Rose, Sue Ellen and Luke to plan and host it at her house. All of the things done for the wedding sounded so romantic. However, Dani still worries about who the killer is and if they are safe.
There is a lot of suspense, excitement and mystery in this story. Emmy has given us another well written and fun cozy mystery. I tried to guess along with Dani and her friends but I was not able to figure out who the killer was. There were lots of surprises and some sweet moments with Pip and Maggie’s dog Bones. This is a great addition to the series and I’ve given it 5 stars.
I was fortunate to receive this ARC from Tule Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
Setting up the Little Dog Diner Booth at the Blueberry Festival, Dani has a bad feeling when she sees Harvey’s food truck roll in. Besides selling sandwiches that previously caused food poisoning, Harvey’s unpleasant attitude has left many in Misty Harbor with a nasty taste in their mouths. Christy, one of Dani’s employees, is set to debut her berry vinegar blends at the festival when she discovers Harvey is set up next to her. Understandably upset as Harvey has been harassing her and attempting to grope her at the diner, she asks Dani for help. Maggie steps up to protect Christy, causing Harvey to destroy her product before storming off. When Maggie and Dani find Harvey dead in the blueberry fields, there are no shortage of suspects including Christy and her husband Chad, handyman Archie, and Harvey’s ex girlfriend and food truck rival, Penny, not to mention Harvey’s other enemies in town. Fearing for Christy’s safety, the investigation takes on urgency as the suspects act erratically. Can Pip help Dani sniff out the clues before it’s too late? And will Dani be able to pull off AJ’s big surprise as well?
Rolling up Revenge is another fun, fast paced cozy from Emmie Lyn. The Little Dog Diner crew have their hands full with both the murder and AJ’s surprise. Sue Ellen has a few surprises up her sleeve as well as she helps Dani on both fronts. Just what doesn’t she carry in that tote bag of hers? An impromptu sleepover with Dani, Maggie, and Sue Ellen shows the depth of caring these women have for each other. Dani helping Sue Ellen with her fear of the dark was very sweet. Pip and Sherlock Bones are always a welcome addition even when they inadvertently cause trouble. Sherlock definitely redeems himself with a previously unknown skill. The mystery kept me guessing throughout with the reveal definitely not what I expected.

Listen. I sat down with my blueberry tea and a fresh scone, expecting a cozy return to Misty Harbor’s charming chaos, and BOOM—dead body behind the berry bushes. Not even five pages in. Dani Mackenzie doesn’t even get a moment to enjoy her syrupy pancakes before she’s practically tripping over a corpse and diving straight into the juiciest mystery this side of the Little Dog Diner.
This time, things hit real close to home when her own employee (and friend!) Christy becomes suspect numero uno. And let me tell you—when you’ve got cops side-eying your crew and vinegar as a murder clue? That’s when you know it's personal.
Pip (the sassiest little Jack Russell terrier ever) is back on the case with his twitchy nose and impeccable murder-sniffing instincts. Seriously, that dog needs a badge. The banter, the quirky festival crowd, the mix of murder and muffins—it’s chef’s kiss. And of course, Dani’s dogged determination (pun 100% intended) to clear her friend’s name has me cheering her on like she’s my bestie.
Every time I think I’ve solved it, Emmie Lyn throws a curveball with a berry-stained twist I did not see coming. This one’s got heart, heat (no, not that kind—but don’t tempt me with future romance), and just the right amount of small-town sass.
If you love a good cozy that balances food, friendship, fur babies, and “what-the-heck-just-happened?!” moments, Rolling Up Revenge delivers with a dollop of blueberry jam and a side of justice.
I enjoyed this quirky cozy. I would say cozy mystery but I think the story did get a little bit hijacked by the surprise wedding. This however was okay because well let's face it, it wasn't a normal wedding and the murder did get solved, just in time. I was surprised with who the killer turned out to be and was still trying to piece together who responsible. There was a number of suspects and all keeping secrets to complicate the matter but luckily for the reader Dani and Pip are on hand. This is book nine in the series and to be honest the wedding came as a big surprise (and for the bride herself) but it played out beautifully for this cast of characters and during a murder investigation, what more could you want? Another book? Yes please. Misty Harbor’s annual Blueberry Festival is the location for another murder. This time the grump owner of the food truck Harvey’s Hearty Subs winds up dead, after just having an argument with one of Dani's employees. The man wasn't well liked and there is no shortage of suspects but with AJ wanting to surprise his girlfriend with a wedding, Dani has her work cut out for her not only keeping it a secret, making the wedding plans come off without a hitch and unmasking a killer. Can she get everything done in time? I was given this free review copy book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was another excellent written story about small town mystery and murder. This story takes place at the Misty Harbor Blueberry Festival. Dani is busy setting up her booth for the diner when one of her employees Christy comes over to ask for her help at her booth with one of their customers who has been hassling Christy. But as usual there always is bit of trouble. Dani and her grandmother go over to see if they can help. Maggie says she will go over first to see if see can help clear up the problem, but she just makes it worse so her fiance, the local detective AJ is called to see what is going on. While all this going on there is a murder and everyone just becomes suspects in this, and Dani and her best friend Maggie try to solve the murder but there are so many twists and turns. Christy becomes one the suspects, so it just keeps getting worse. In the meantime, AJ has decided that he wants to surprise Maggie with their wedding with everyone's helping to pull it off. I love that everyone just gets right in to help make this happen. If you love a lot of action going on then this just what you need to read. I could not put the book down until I had finished it.
The annual Blueberry Festival is happening in Misty Harbor and it's starting out great. But then Dani MacKenzie and her dog, Pip, find a dead body amongst the blueberries. Initially, the clues lead to Christy Golden, an employee of Dani's. The man had been harassing her and he destroyed some of her product for the festival. Dani begins investigating along with Pip hoping to prove her friend's innocence.
This is such an amazing series and this book's a prime example of why. It's well-written with characters who are wonderful and believable. The story captures small town life and the bonds of friendship very well. The mystery was intriguing with lots of twists and turns and plenty of red herrings. I was immediately drawn into this captivating story and kept hooked throughout. I loved this book and am looking forward to more from the series. I highly recommend both book and series which I think is best read in order. The mysteries are self contained in each book but the story builds from book to book and the characters grow as the series builds. I did receive an ARC of this book from BookSirens and this is my honest, unbiased review.
Rolling Up Revenge by Emmie Lyn First time reading this series and enjoyed it very much. Starts out with Dani and she's attending the Maine Blueberry Festival in town among many others who also have crafts and food with blueberries in mind. There are issues, chaos, drama and dead people. Loved hearing about the stands at the festival. When I heard of the lobster molds I went to amazon right away and not only saw lobster claw cookie cutters but there was one set that had many other sea life and i had to buy it. Can't wait to make them w for Easter sugar cookies this year. Lot of characters and it's quite easy to keep track of what is who. Didn't feel like I had missed anything but reading this as my first book in this series. Love that they include recipes at the end. Great stand alone read. Fun, entertaining, twists and turns and magical weddings that you never thought could ever take place with everything else going on. Love how the whole town comes together to help with the clues and to help others who are in need of it. Received a review copy of this book from Tule Publishing and this is my honest opinion.
It the day of the Maine Blueberry Festival in Misty Harbor and Dani is there with her Little Dog Diner booth set up and ready to serve goodies to the attendees. Unfortunately Harvey's Hearty Subs is assigned a spot right next to Christy. The owner has been harassing Christy at the diner and she's scared to be next to him. Maggie goes to confront Harvey. He gets angry, destroys some of Christy's gourmet vinegars and stomps away. Not long after Dani, Pip, Maggie and Bones discover a body in the blueberry fields. There are many people that didn't like Harvey but who had the opportunity to kill him? AJ finds that there are more than a few people capable of this murder. He also conspires with Dani to throw a surprise wedding the next day. With planning a quick wedding and solving a murder, Dani and Pip are going to be busy.
I love Emmie Lyn's books. The Accidental Ghost Detective books were the first I read. They're so much fun. This series is the 2nd I've started and I couldn't love it more. The characters (Pip) and the story lines are so good and fun to read. I can't wait for the next book.
ROLLING UP REVENGE is another fun and entertaining murder mystery and the ninth installment in the Little Dog Diner series by Emmie Lyn. This group of eclectic and fun characters is great, and the entitled dog and her friends definitely add to the entertainment.
Dani's husband Luke is hosting his first Misty Harbor Blueberry Festival, and everything is going great, that is, until a vendor is found dead. Dani's friend is the main suspect. On top of everything, Dani has 24 hours to plan and host a surprise wedding. It's a good thing this group of friends is up for any challenge and solving a murders.
A well-written and entertaining story with a twisty and interesting plot and the cutest fur characters ever.
I'm really enjoying this series with Pip and her friends in these cozy mysteries. If you like sassy dogs with hearts bigger than they are all surrounded by murder and good friends, this book is for you.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I think this maybe my favorite Little Dog Diner book. Every character in Blueberry Bay is charming and fun, especially Pip. I always feel like I’m among friends and all the yummy food only makes it feel more cozy. The Mysteries are so fun to try and figure out and Emmie Lynn does a fantastic job of keeping the twist and turns coming to add another layer to the piled-up clues. With the thrown in addition of Maggie and AJ at the end I was beyond happy about that extra surprise. The fact that everyone of the friends pulled together to get a secret job done with an ongoing murder kept me glued to the pages. Each turn of the page kept the intensity of the story going and kept me on the edge of my seat. Then you have some funny parts thrown in to lighten the moment. This book is a fun and entertaining read from beginning to end with something for everyone to love! It as given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
As Misty Harbor’s annual Blueberry Festival kicks off, Dani Mackenzie is busy setting up her tent, when one of her employees, Christy Golden approaches her about another exhibitor who has been harassing her. Harvey Walters is a thoroughly unlikeable food truck owner, whose bad behavior has caused trouble in town after a bad breakup with his girlfriend. After a confrontation with Dani’s BFF, Maggie, Harvey wreaks havoc on Christy’s vinegar display and is later found dead in the blueberry fields with a broken vinegar bottle in his chest. Of course, Christy is the prime suspect, but Dani and Maggie along with their canine companions, Pip and Bones, set out to find the truth. There are multiple suspects, lots of secrets, and a special surprise. I really enjoyed this book and I definitely recommend it! I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and I am happy to leave this voluntary review.
With the annual Blueberry Festival in full swing, Dani and her dog Pip are set up and ready to sell food from her Little Dog Diner. Christy also has a booth set up to sell her new start up line of vinegars thinking she was being set up next to Dani but ends up next to Harvey’s food truck. As he has been bothering her every time he sees her, he is the last person she wants to be next to. As problems escalate, he breaks many of her bottles as he storms past, causing chaos and is later found dead. As he seemed to be a nasty person always causing problems and making many enemies, the search is for the person that hated him the most. The story is a cozy mystery and a joy to read following the twist and turns that Dani and her friend Maggie and their two pups work to solve the mystery before anyone else gets hurt.

Blueberry fields made the song run thru my head! But, a murder in blueberry fields, it cannot be! Harvy had many who did not like him, and he did not care. He was trouble with the capitol T! Poor Christy and her vinegar goods booth are placed right next to Harvey and his food truck. In one of his anger tantrums he smashes all the bottles of vinegar on the table Christy has out. To calm down, she takes a stroll thru the blueberry fields. Dani and Maggie are taking the pups for a stroll in the field when they started barking up a racket, they raced to see what was the matter. Seems Harvey has been stabbed in the chest with a broken vinegar bottle and wrapped in the soiled table cloth that was taken to the trash after Harvey had his tantrum. Will Christy be blamed? Is she the one? With so many who hate Harvey, Dani and crew have their hands full!
A mystery, a murder and a wedding! Harvey, of Harvey’s Hearty Subs, is in an unusually fowl temper at the Misty Harbor Blueberry Festival, and having his spot next to Christy’s specialty vinegar display is the final straw. He walks by her display with his arm out and wipes out almost the entire display without a word, then stomps off to the blueberry fields! When she tells her husband Chad, he storms off after him, saying he’ll make him pay. When Maggie’s black lab, Sherlock Bones, start barking like crazy, they all go after him to discover Harvey, dead. Dani is ready to investigate but with Christy, Penny, Tony, and Archie all having motives and possible opportunity, it’s not going to be easy!
The Annual Blueberry Festival is about to kickoff at Misty Harbor. Dani has her tent set up for the Diner when Christy stops by, upset. Seems somebody messed with the placement of tents, and she is stuck beside nasty, foul Harvey of Harvey’s Food Truck. Harvey is always hitting on Christy, even though she is married and this time, he practically wipes out her supple of flavored vinegar. Things go from bad to worse when Harvey is found wrapped in a vinegar tablecloth laying in the blueberry fields. Since Harvey was so toxic, the list of suspects is long for who would have done him in. Join Dani as she searches for clues, motive, means all while dealing with her Diner, the Festival and a surprise wedding. Another great mystery full of well rounded characters and story.
"You’re the glue holding us together, Dani. I don’t know what we’d do without you."
Dani, Luke and Pip are back and yet again in the middle of a mystery rolled ( literally) around a wonderful surprise that will change things for the better in this little town. Question becomes why, and who killed Harvey? There certainly are a number of possibilities in the hopper however leave it to Dani to find out the most important thing: how did it happen and what was the motive.
I have wandered around this series almost since it's beginning and happily signed on to read the ARC when given a chance. Here's to many more mysteries in the series! Highly Recommended 5/5
[ Disclaimer: I received this book from Book Sirens but in no way did it affect my reading or my review]
Just the sound of Misty Harbor's Blueberry Festival makes my mouth water! The Little Dog Diner is a vendor in this annual event and Dani is busy with her booth, and her employee, Christy, who has her own booth debuting her new flavored vinegars. But as usual trouble is brewing and Dani stumbles upon another dead body while taking a walk in the blueberry field. Unfortunately her employee is a suspect and Dani and her friend, Maggie, set out to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, AJ has a big surprise for his fiancé, Maggie, adding a very nice side story. This is such a fun series, and I really enjoyed the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Rolling Up Revenge is Book 9 in the Little Dog Diner by Emmie Lyn. I have read every book in this series. I feel like I know characters and I am happy when things go well and truthfully a little bit sad if problems happen to my "book friends". The annual Blueberry Festival with Dani readying her booth with the help of Pip. Christy has her vinegar ready in her booth when a disaster happens. Unfortunately, this problem is replaced by a murder. I really enjoyed having so many of the characters from all of the books are active in book 9. Emmie Lyn writes wonderful mysteries. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
I received an advanced copy of this title for free provided by Booksirens and this review is being provided voluntarily without reservation. Rolling up Revenge was set in a cute small town setting around the events at and around a local festival. The mystery is set up well with character development and as a reader you didn’t like the murder victim and hoped the other characters didn’t have something to do with it because they were so likable. The dogs all nice comic relief and provided assistance where needed. Overall, this was an enjoyable read with twists and turns and a good “who done it” mystery. The celebration at the end was a nice wrap up and beautiful ending for the characters.
Another entertaining story in the Little Dog Diner Series, Rolling Up Revenge by Emmie Lyn is a Blueberry Festival gone wrong. What should have been a fulfilled day finds Dani Mackenzie coming upon a dead body. Dani is sure the police are on the wrong track since they have her friend as the chief suspect. Dani and her feisty Jack Russell terrier, Pip as well as friends are out to catch the real guilty party.
A cozy mystery with some wonderful four-legged friends that is easy to read, easy to follow but also not so easy to solve. Just the right amount of thinking for the reader to stay engaged but not overwhelmed with too many clues or characters.
If you enjoy a well-written, fun cozy mystery, you will enjoy this book (and this series). Dani and her friends are busy with the Blueberry Festival when the unthinkable happens: A dead body is discovered!
The victim isn't the most likeable citizen of Misty Harbor, but Dani and her Jack Russell, Pip, are determined to find out if one of her friends might be the murderer!
Throw in a surprise wedding, some colorful and amusing characters, and a Labrador named Bones and you have a fun cast mixed in with the mystery. I definitely recommend this book and series to any cozy mystery lover.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was such a sweet and cute cozy mystery. The characters to include pip the four-legged cape crusader and Sherlock Bones were to adorable. Solving the murder of Harvey from Harvey's Hearty Subs took Dani, her husband Luke, Maggie the local PI, her fiancé, AJ the cop, and Dani's grandmother Rose on a journey full of suspects and ups and downs. I loved how the actual suspect was not even on my radar until the end of the book. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading others by this author. Any book that has four-legged family members solving mysteries is ones I love reading.
This is the first book that I've read by this author. I will definitely be reading more of her books, especially this series! It kept me hooked from the start. We start out at Misty Harbor's Blueberry Festival. Dani MacKenzie and her dog, Pip, stumble upon a dead body. Clues point to Dani's employee, Christy. Dani and Pip investigate to try to clear Christy's name. The mystery flows well and has lots of twists. The ending will be a surprise to you! Thanks to BookSirens, Tule Publishing, and Emmie Lyn for a free copy of this to review.
Well, it's time for the Blueberry Festival - I can smell the goodies from here! Unfortunately that's not the only thing at the festival; Dana of course, comes across a murder victim. Dana and Pip have to jump into an investigation to save their friend who the police are suspecting. Good characters, lots of interesting situations and several guesses of who the murder is and why. This book is a very good continuation of this series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It is Blueberry Festival time. While all Dani wants to do is enjoy the festival, stumbling upon a body was not on the fun list. Evidence starts to add up and leads them to her friend and employee, Christy Golden. Will Dani be able to put it all together before the killer strikes again?
I love this series. Not only for the mystery but for little Pip, Dani's trusted doggy crime fighter. If you like cozy mysteries this is one series to not miss. I received an advanced copy. A review was not required.
The annual Blueberry Festival in Misty Harbor showcases everything blueberry. That shouldn't have included the body found in the blueberry bushes! The prime suspect is one of Dani's employees at the Little Dog Diner! Dani is determined to prove her friend is innocent but with so many suspects, it won't be an easy task! Can Dani and her lovable Jack Russell terrier Pip find the killer or will they get away with it? I love this series and the wonderful ( and sometimes quirky) characters! A great book to relax with after a hectic week at work!
This is the 9th book in the Little Dog Diner series, but I read it as a standalone/first read. The characters and their relationships were developed enough that I didn’t feel lost.
This is a cute little cozy mystery with culinary and dog themes. I enjoyed the characters and found them engaging. The story was well written. I read it in just over two hours total, which I find to be a good length for cozies.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading others in the series.
