Because Seraphina isn’t just running—she’s hunting. And she refuses to let anyone stand in the way of her revenge. Not even Ryder. But when a deadly conspiracy pulls them both into the crosshairs, their only chance for survival is by working together.

I can now safely say that Brittney Sahin is a thriller romance Master. There is no book written by her thar I wouldn't read, absolutely none! (Except maybe, unpopular opinion here 🙋‍♀️, Carter Dominic's book)

Sahin's books are very well researched in military, private security, actions, repercussions and risks. They take you into a roller coaster of gasps, shock, rooting and melting into her romance puddles.

Her MMCs are alpha, assertive, confident, ripped, brave and extremely loyal men.
Her MFCs are smart, beautiful, supportive, strong and extremely loyal women.

In Against All Odds, Ryder has abandonment issues from his father's side. His insecurities drag along his whole life making him doubt women wanting to stay with him for him. And to add more salt to his open wounds his ex girlfriend cheats on him with his best friend and ends up getting pregnant.
Did he love her? Maybe as a friend. In their line of work, it's hard to find someone supportive of what they do and willing to be patient and accepting of the risks they constantly take. His ex girlfriend was his close friend before they decided to become more, given that she also worked with him with the government and she understands the risks of his job. Was he hurt about what had happened? absolutely! But only because she cheated, she was his friend first and foremost so at least confess that you weren't happy and most importantly his freaking best friend stabbed him in the back!.

In comes Seraphina. A goddess of a woman, confident on the outside but absolutely vulnerable on the inside. Her family was killed as collateral damage in a war of drugs and cartel. She's extremely intelligent and manages to infiltrate the mafia that she suspected killed her family. In a random night at a Mafia event, she meets Ryder. Their connection is instant. They cannot explain it, it's like a bolt of lightning that striked not once, but twice in the same place, against all odds.

His lack of restraint with her is a delicious thing to witness. The otherworldly connection he feels with her is a thing of beauty. Our boy is obsessed.

Their first intimate scene is hot hot hot!!

"You okay?" That was the voice of the angel, not the sexy little devil I wanted to come out and play with me right now.
But no, she needed to be good so I could behave. Yes, do that. Be my good girl. F*ck, I was still painfully hard.
"Give me another second." Did I just growl? What the___
I let go of my thoughts when she teased, "I'd apologize for whatever discomfort I think I've caused you, but you'll just tell me I don't owe you one."
And there you are. My bad girl. Dammit. Keeping my eyes closed, I brought my hands around to her thighs and died on the inside as I resisted my basest of impulses to f*ck the everloving hell out of this woman.

I did not like how Seraphina kept pushing him to be intimate though since he was trying to respect their precarious situation. Oh don't get me wrong! He wanted nothing but to worship her in the sheets but he is a professional operator. They were on a mission and their lives and those of his team mates were at risk, yet Seraphina was oblivious about all of it. It made me want to shake some sense into her.

Also, the twist? Woah!!!
Without revealing any spoilers, just gonna say poor Alex. 😔

This book was perfection from begining to end. And also without revealing any spoilers, I CANNOT WAIT TO READ BOOK 2. Alex's book. 💙
Refrain from reading the blurb of Book 2 because it has a spoiler of Book 1.

DNF at 62%, and here's why:

I want to start by saying that my DNF's are normally a 2 star because I simply didn't finish reading the book.
The narration of this book is what bumped it to 3 stars. The narrators were fantastic. It was the characters and the chemistry that ruined it for me. The author is fantastic at writing her plots. She packs great suspense and problem solving into each and every one of her books. I truly am in aww with what she comes up with in each book. It's always something different. I want to be very clear on that. It's her chemistry with her characters that are not feeling natural anymore.

Let's jump into my review and why it's a DNF. This book started off so well. Hooked me, and I was genuinely giddy for it. What killed it were 2 things.
1. Ryder's obsession with Seraphina. I am a big fan of insta love. I love it, in fact. I feel that authors have to be really careful with how they involve insta love. Insta love is not schmex. It's a hit you in the gut, and "I have to be near you," "You are mine." soul deep connections between the two main characters.. I believe Ryder does feel part of these things. He has that hit tonthe gut. but it's more of a need to be with her schmexually, then soul shattering. Everything involving Ryder and Seraphina feels very cringy. The dialoge, the excessive back and forth of "no we can't " to "well we can" but not actually act on it, instead they watch each other, goes on for multiple chapters! It gets old. Its nothing happening for multiple chapters not even in the plot itself, and it seems to be the running theme for this author for the past few books, and I am not a fan. It's not hot anymore. It's weird, and the characters do not seem to flow together they seem to be forced together. At this point, I dont think romance should be a factor at all until there is way more chemistry between them. i am not understanding what she is trying tondonwith making them hook up so soon after meeting. Clearly, I have strong viewpoints. on this. Also, the weird dialog between the characters. did I mention this. if I did, it's worth mentioning again. There is just something off and has been off for the past series with the dialog.
2. The second thing that just made me give up was once again the past character cameo's. There are so many characters she is adding to the mix that it's getting obnoxious and confusing, I want these past characters to just live their lives. I want to see new people being introduced. I want hints and easier eggs of ehat could be a possibility for a new book or a new series. if you want to casually meantion how legendary your stealth op guys are, do it. but do it as a story, not a cameo where these characters have active roles.lol I am just over it. I am not the writer, and I understand that. but for someone who has followed this author for a long time and loves the Stealth Ops boys. these storylines are becoming clouded with the cameos, and I have a good understanding of all her books, so for someone who is just reading her for the first time. I can see that being dicey.

These are purely my reasons. I always encourage people to take my reviews as a gee wiz type approach. Be curious and take a chance on everybook younfind interesting. My reviews are simply my opinion. My DNF could be someone else's top read of the year. Happy reading.

Against All Odds kicks off Brittney Sahin’s new Delta Shield Security series with high-stakes action, layered suspense, and a romance that burns hot from the start. Ryder and Seraphina’s connection is equal parts attraction and reluctant trust, set against a backdrop of cartel danger, government secrets, and nonstop twists.

I especially loved the tie-ins to Falcon Falls and the cameos from the Stealth Ops team—plus those Gwen teasers that have me even more excited for her story. While the middle slowed a bit with so many moving parts, the action and big reveal at the end delivered a thrilling payoff.

As always, Sahin’s interconnected world makes the story feel rich and expansive, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Alex and Reed as the series continues.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Brittney for this ARC.

I generally like Brittney Sahin but recently have felt like her books are getting further away from what I liked about them. Over complicated over involved plots, no romantic build up (too much insta love) etc. Sure the cameos from other series are interesting but it feels like she’s made some of her characters caricatures of themselves and frankly, I’m not really invested in this new series much. Give us Gwen’s book!!

Brittney Sahin is introducing us to a new team, Delta Shield Security. The story continues with the reasons we know, love and read her for. Heart pounding suspense, plenty of action, and heat between her characters. The edge of your seat danger, secrets and twists, have your attention from beginning to end. As always, the time and attention to detail provides us with as real life these people lead without leaving our living rooms.
As the new team is introduced to us, old friends show up in cameos. It is nice to catch up.

Ryder and Serphina’s story is an emotional roller coaster, and I expect nothing less. Ryder’s confidence and loyalty makes him a strong team member. Past issues with his family show insecurities and doubts with relationships. I love Seraphina, she is smart, confident to the world but has her own insecurities. Meeting Ryder is the person she did know she needed in her life.

I am looking forward to the next book!

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

I received this ARC book in exchange for an honest review, and I was completely hooked from the first page. Against All Odds is everything I love in a romantic suspense: heart-pounding action, a fiercely independent heroine, and a hero torn between duty and desire.

Ryder Lawson is a dedicated undercover operative, and Seraphina Torres is a woman with a haunting past and a mission of her own. What starts as a rescue turns into a deadly chase across borders—from Mexico to Costa Rica—where cartel warfare, corrupt allies, and underground fight clubs raise the stakes with every chapter. But it’s the fiery chemistry between Ryder and Seraphina that truly drives this story.

Brittney Sahin has crafted a gripping, emotional rollercoaster with layered characters and nonstop tension. The trust between Ryder and Seraphina builds slowly and realistically, making the romance feel powerful and earned. And as the danger escalates, so does their connection—making every moment together feel urgent and unforgettable.

This book has it all: danger, passion, betrayal, and heart. If you’re a fan of romantic suspense with high stakes and a love story worth fighting for, Against All Odds will not disappoint. I couldn’t put it down!

I was interested in this story right from the beginning. I thought it got off to a strong start, and I enjoyed the characters. It was an interesting concept, and I appreciate the layered plot. While I'm generally a big fan of this author, there were a few things about this one that I didn't love.

First, it was total insta-love. I can appreciate an instant connection (and I was so intrigued from the first few chapters) but Ryder's obsession felt way too sudden and forced. As a result, I liked their romance, but I didn't love it.

This book felt like it had a lot less action than most of her previous works, and I think that's because a lot of it happens off the page. We have the bad guys in a compromising position and ready to turn on each other - so let's fade to black and then share a recap after... really? It even happened in the epilogue. The pacing felt off as well. I was so interested in finally hearing Seraphina's story, but there were so many pauses that I nearly lost interest.

I did really like all of the characters, and I am very interested in Reed and Alex's stories!

Against All Odds is the first book in the Delta Shield Security series written by Brittney Sahin.

What to expect:
*Off the books government agency
*Instalust
*Found family

Seraphina and Ryder first meet during an undercover operation, him for a special government agency, her for a personal reason. They form an instant connection when Ryder ends up saving Seraphina from being killed after she is outed to the bad guys. After that it’s a slow burn book with the characters hiding from the bad guys and uncovering who they can trust and who they should be watching out for.

This can be read as a standalone but there are a lot of crossover characters from a previous series by this author that caused me some confusion.

No OW/OM drama, some slight jealousy. No third act breakup.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Well Brittney Sahin has done it again. This is the start of a new series and it started with cameos from some of my favorite alpha heroes.

The story has a brave strong female and of course an alpha male who is just what she needs and he needs her to. Emotions and intrigue are plenty and plenty of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages as fast as you can. I read and also listened to the audio and both were that excellence that I’ve come to know as Brittney’s work. I can’t wait for the second book to come out.

Brittney has kicked off another exciting series with former Seals and Delta former military as they do the jobs the US cannot do. This book we meet Ryder and how he becomes involved with Serafina. It’s a steamy tale but don’t be fooled. Brittney’s books are filled with fleshed out characters and gripping storylines that seamlessly combine with the Roman to keep you turning the pages. The pacing is on point and by the time you finish you are ready for the next installment. Do not underestimate the power of a Brittney Sahin novel, she has mastered this and she keeps her audience enthralled.

Thank you, NetGalley and Montlake, for the eArc, these opinions are mine.

I swear I tried! The premise had so much potential: Seraphina infiltrates a mafia family to get revenge and ends up being saved by Ryder. It sounded like action, tension, and plot twists. But unfortunately, at a certain point, I just couldn’t keep going.

Seraphina starts off as a total badass. She spends months in an extremely dangerous situation, always focused and determined. But the moment she meets Ryder… everything falls apart. She goes from cold, calculated, and strong to completely dependent. I get that she’s fragile after everything she went through, but no one changes personality overnight!

And Ryder? Oh, come on! The man just got out of a relationship, and an HOUR after meeting Seraphina, he already can’t live without her? He doesn’t want to be anywhere she isn’t? WHAT?
Then every time she tells him her mission plans, he looks like he’s about to have a heart attack. The girl can’t even breathe without him thinking she’s going to die?!
Sorry, but I have no patience for this kind of over-the-top drama.

The chemistry between them didn’t convince me, and the plot which started off with great potential turned into a suffocating, unrealistic romance!

It’s a shame, because the idea really was promising.

Get ready for the start of another exciting series with Delta Force Security! Right now it consists of three operatives that are very different personalities but are banded like brothers. Ryder and Seraphina are strong and well developed characters who meet by chance. Ms. Sahin gives the reader a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense which takes place all over the world. As the characters get to know each other, the plot develops and evolves with a look at believable scenarios of today’s world. Enter help to this small team from some well beloved familiar characters that put the perpetrators where they belong. A great addition to Brittney’s catalog of books!

Many thanks to Brittney, the publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

This book took forever to read especially since I received an ARC weeks before being released. It started very slow with 1 day lasting half the book. I really struggled to connect with the FMC and MMC but I am looking forward to the next books in the series as I like the other characters better than these. The story and plot was fantastic and the cameos from earlier series is always appreciated, Brittney did not disappoint in that regard. I still gave 5 stars as me not "clicking" with the MMC or FMC didn't take away that it's a good book.

As a sucker for romantic suspense, Against All Odds completely hit the mark for me. This is the first book in Brittney Sahin’s Delta Shield Security series, and what a gripping, high stakes kickoff it was! I love a good "off the books government agency" plotline, and this delivered on that front with tension, danger, and just the right amount of spice.

The story opens with an explosive meet cute between Ryder and Seraphina during an undercover op. He’s there with his private security team, she’s got her own secret agenda. What follows is a slow burn thrill ride with instalust, a found family vibe, and enough action to keep you turning the pages.

Ryder is your classic alpha hero; he is protective, loyal, and completely down bad for Seraphina, even if she’s pushing him away. Seraphina is fierce, capable, and on a mission of her own. I loved that she wasn’t a damsel in distress, but a woman out for justice. The chemistry between them was palpable, and I appreciated that there wasn’t any OW/OM drama or third act breakup, but just a little jealousy to spice things up.

While this can be read as a standalone, I’ll admit I was a little confused at times with all the crossover characters from Brittney’s other series. I did still enjoy it, but I felt I was missing a little something since I have not read her other work.

All in all, this book delivered exactly what I hoped for: romance, suspense, and a pairing that had me rooting for them from the jump. I'm already excited for Reed and Alex’s stories. Bring on the rest of the Delta Shield team!

Thank you to NetGalley, Brittney Sahin, and Montlake Publishing for the ARC!

It feels so good to be starting a new Brittney Sahin series.

The tension between our main characters was great. And as I always say, nobody does military romance like Brittney. Her plots are always so complex and exciting.

As always, it was fun to get a peek at characters from this world she has created. And I’m so excited to explore the rest of Delta Shield Security!

Another amazing start to a new series by Brittney Sahin. Ryder Lawson has a few friends he can call his ride or die. These are the same men who make up his off the books team Delta Force.

While on a mission he meets his destiny but doesn’t immediately realize the impact this woman will have on his life.

I knew going into this book I would love it because I love all of Brittney’s books. This one brought back characters from previous series flawlessly. It is exquisitely written and beautifully executed. All the while I found myself hating some of the characters and cheering for Ryder and Serraphina and even Alex and Reed.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I can’t recommend the book enough.

Against All Odds is the first book in the Delta Shield Security series. A thrilling and engaging read with a unique blend of romance, suspense, witty banter, and action. The author creates well-crafted characters with emotional depth, making it hard for the readers to put the book down. The story follows complex themes and explores dark secrets, but ultimately provides an addictive and intoxicating reading experience. I was drawn into the story from start to finish, finding it hard to put down due to the well-developed characters, captivating plot, romance, mystery, and intrigue. One of the most appealing aspects of this book is found family/brotherhood while the hero and heroine are thrown together in a forced proximity, leading to unexpected twists and turns that keep the readers on the edge of their seats. Against All Odds delivers on its promise of being gritty, raw, witty and engaging.

The cameos of the characters from previous series (whom I missed so much) only add to the storyline and enjoyment of the story.

Ryder and Seraphina met during an undercover operation, where Ryder is working for a government agency and Seraphina has her own personal motives/agenda. They have an instant connection and chemistry. Both are very strong-willed and stubborn. Ryder might come across as arrogant, but he is multi-layered, enigmatic, supportive, perceptive, kind, loyal, and very understanding. Seraphina is a vulnerable yet strong, fierce, kind, and capable individual who is driven by her own justice-driven agenda. The chemistry between Ryder and Seraphina is palpable, focusing on their initial tension and subtle jealousy as they navigate their feelings for each other while being pursued by bad guys. The beautiful dynamics and mysterious plot unfold throughout the narrative. Love how the author portrayed their gradual change, development and feelings. Seraphina and Ryder emerge as partners in crime in solving the intricate mystery, but more importantly, they grab this chance at love, showing they were always meant to be.

Definitely my favorite read this year and another standout in the romantic suspense genre. I absolutely love this new team and characters and cannot wait to get to know Alex and Reed. Phenomenal start with harrowing twists and turns, romantic moments, and a character-driven storyline.

I honestly have no idea how Brittney Sahin continues to knock it out of the park with every new novel she writes, but she has done it once again! She has a gift for creating new & unique characters in this genre she is so prolific in, & I am in awe of her ability to continue to write complex, deep, unique characters & storylines. This reason alone is why she is one of my favorite authors. In this new series debut, Ryder & Seraphina's connection starts out seemingly low key, with witty banter & a bit of flirting, but quickly hits full throttle levels of intensity on an emotional/soulful level. I can personally attest to the idea of instant connection/love at first sight, & so the idea of 2 people meeting & instantly knowing the other person is going to be a central, vital part of their life going forward is absolutely a believable storyline to me. In "Against All Odds", Brittney manages to convey that experience quite accurately, & I enjoyed every last detail of how the connection between the FMC & the MMC continued to unfold throughout the story, Along with this, the FMC stays true to character with her witty, punchy attitude & overall determination to finish what she started & not back down from the MMC, even if she is falling for him. This added brevity & realness to the FMC & I loved that the MMC knew he was a control freak & at the same time was willing to relinquish a bit of that control in order to allow the FMC the closure she needed in seeing her "mission" through to the end. Seraphina's personality was also strong, witty, & sharp, & I think she might be my top 1 or 2 favorite FMC's Brittney has written. Her internal monologue had be laughing out loud several times, & her "Batman" reference for Carter was spot on & so perfectly placed in the scene in which it occurs. I truly enjoyed the FMC in this novel & Ryder as her love interest was also a perfect match to her intensity. His stubbornness, alpha tendencies, & "always in control" attitude made his eventual realization that vulnerability & compromise is not weakness even more enjoyable to watch transpire. The secondary/supporting characters in the novel also added to it's overall enjoyment, & I am really looking forward to hopefully reading Alex & Reed's novels in the future based on their character development that took place in this story. Overall, this novel was a wonderful introduction to a new series, & I can't wait to read the next one in this new, exciting series!

AGAINST ALL ODDS by BRITTNEY SAHIN ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Against All Odds is the first (#1) book in the Delta Shield Security series.

When Ryder Lawson comes across a mysterious woman whilst on a Delta Shield op he is inexplicably attracted to her, but the op goes sideways and then the beautiful woman disappears. Seraphina Torres is out for revenge and nothing and no-one is going to get in her way but when she becomes the op and is forced to spend time with Ryder sparks start to fly….

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

** I READ A VERY EARLY, UNREVISED, UNEDITED VERSION OF THIS BOOK. ERGO, FOR THE SAKE OF FAIRNESS ANY MINOR MISTAKES WERE IGNORED. ALL COMMENTS ARE MY OWN HONEST UNBIASED OPINION **
This thrilling first instalment in Brittney Sahin’s new romantic suspense series introduces us to Delta Shield Security and its former military operatives.
With a captivating storyline full of twists and turns, dynamic characters and plenty of action, the pages turn themselves.
The MMC is a deeply broody, protective man, loyal to his teammates and willing to tow the line of his mission whilst the MFC is stubborn, determined and forthright. She is firm in her plan and unwavering in her desire to see it through.

The relationship between the main characters is 🔥🔥🔥 from the very beginning of the story and sparks quickly ignite with their undeniable connection running throughout the book. It’s insta attraction from both of them and neither of them really try to fight it.

Against All Odds has an intricate, multilayered plot with various players but rest assured, by the end all the threads are brought together satisfactorily. There is plenty of action - some of it off page. The MMC’s teammates are intriguing and relatable and offer a welcome touch of light relief. I can’t wait to learn more about these characters and their backgrounds in future books.

There are cameo roles (both on and off the page) of characters from Ms Sahin’s previous series which is a welcome addition for those who have read her previous books, although I don’t think it detracts from a new readers enjoyment of the story.

I think this was a perfect start to the series and it has only left me salivating for more! #HighlyRecommend

Whirlwind.
Ryder Lawson first meets Seraphina, aka Anna, who is working undercover to gain evidence and some revenge against her evil boss Ezra Sokolov. It looks like she's about to be killed, so he interferes and his team saves her life while grabbing the person they were after. She's been working as an accountant of this slimy man for 9 months and just feels yucky ! His questionable wife, Nina is the only person keeping Anna safe from his insidious attempts to rape her. Because that is what it would be. Ezra is afraid of Nina though. Whew.
Ryder is drawn to Seraphina and she is drawn to him at first sight ! Can Ryder trust Director Hernandez, he seems like a good guy? Someone seems to be giving heads up to people who shouldn't have that information. Ryder's 3 man team had an extra unwanted man on their team, Leo who really isn't good for their team. So they dump him after the OP. Watch out for hi, Ryder's Team, he's gonna come back to bit you ! The other guys are good to go, always. Reed, the non-peoplely guy. By his own admission, he doesn't like people. Alex is the skilled jokester, who has an ex-wife, Beth, that Ryder doesn't like or trust. Turns out, he was spot on with that one ! She's more evil than anyone could have ever foreseen ! It ends up shocking even Alex !!! But I adored Reed, and Alex !!! And how they worked and ribbed each other and had each others backs as a team ! They were family !!
Seraphina is afraid of checking in to her handler and is afraid of Lainey ,and being put it Witsec. . Turns out Lainey is Ryder's ex fiance !!! That's going to cause some problems !Everyone seems to be after her for both good and possible not so good reasons. DHS, DEA, FBI. Who can she trust? It's intense!
I loved the ending and now, I want to read more about this existing team and their personal lives. This one had such exquisite, intense action, romance, and a great team !Heck, even the president gets involved !!!
Thank you Netgalley and Brittany Sahin for this awesome book !

Against All Odds by Brittney Sahin is an action packed emotional rollercoaster that's dangerous and stainful and heartbreaking at the same time. Seraphina and Ryder are both lonely lost souls in some sense and their paths crossed during sinister time. The plot is so layered and complex and I had twists and turns shocking me in every chapter. I love the sizzling hot chemistry balancing the adrenaline rush of taking down evil. Brittney Sahin writes some epic military heroes and romantic suspense and this was no exception.

🖤 Delta Force ( special ops) hero
🖤 sassy heroine
🖤 romantic suspense
🖤 action packed.
🖤 forced proximity
🖤 alpha of the alphas

Ryder saved Seraphina during one of his mission that didn't concern her. Before he could get answers of why she was acting as accountant of a criminal being sought by government agency..she disappears. Only for the taks of finding her falling in his lap. She wants vengeance against the criminals who murdered her parents and she isn't thinking clearly. She left a big impression on his heart and when he tracks her down in Mexico...Ryder is very clear that he won't let her put herself in the line of fire. They dont know that they are in a big game where not all players are known or safe.

Give me a overprotective, extremely possessive, excessively controlling and dominating special force guy any day in a book and I will be a happy camper. And Rayder delivers all those and then some. He met his match in Seraphina. His days of war and betrayal from past relationships left him a hardened man but she is under his armour. Seraphina is so fearless and fierce, sometimes to the level of reckless. Her loss and grief have left their scars. They cannot get distracted during such a dangerous mission but they also cannot deny their pull. I was on the edge whole time. The action, the suspense, the chase, the tactical intricacies...I was hooked. The romance just enhanced the charisma. They met under less than ideal circumstances but they found true love.

One thing you can count on with Brittney is her love for the details and those relationships between not only main characters, but the "side" characters, too. That's what has always made Brittney's books special to me. Her characters are far more dynamic and well-rounded when you see the sides of them which aren't just about their love story with the main female lead. She does that so well with Ryder in this new series. Ryder isn't your normal cinnamon-roll male character. He's also very dominant, but it really works for him. It was easy to fall in love with him because of his commanding presence, but supportive. I could go on about Brittney's writing style, but you want to know about the story.

Fantastic. It's as simple as that. The plot weaves very well with the love story between Ryder and Seraphina. We are taken to several locations, but not in a pretentious way we can't stay with where Brittney wants to take us in the story. Things don't just happen because... plot. They flow! Ryder and Seraphina are brought together by happenstance on a mission where he wants to be her knight in shining armor, but she has other ideas. She wants to be her own savior. As the story progresses, Sera learns how to depend on others and truly become a part of the team, or a part of Ryder's little made family. Her character arc is well woven into her also insta-love with Ryder and his snarky attitude. They work well together and it's a great love story regardless of how little time they've spent together to fall in love. We get some great cameos from some of our favorite Bravo Team members from Stealth Ops series, which is such a nice added touch for those of us who have loved Brittney from the beginning. Long review short, it's another fantastic read and a real page-turner to see how Ryder and Sera will find justice for her family while also working to remove cartel influence off the streets.

I’m so thrilled to be back in the Brittney Sahin world with a brand new series. “Against All Odds” is a passionate, romantic and action packed romantic suspense that was a great start to the “Delta Shield Security” series.

With any plan, you have to be ready for it to go ten different ways. And rescuing Seraphina Torres was in any of those plans but Delta Shield security never leaves anyone behind. And from the moment Ryder Lawson’s life, he was enraptured with her. But as quickly as they have her, she disappears. Now the government wants her found and when they do, she’s not who they think she is. She had gone undercover for revenge and now that they know the true reason, Ryder and Delta Shield are on her side. Loyalties are tested as they go from Mexico to Costa Rica to take down a powerful and corrupted cartel. And the connection they first had intensifies as they spend time together.

With every book, Brittney Sahin’s plots get more intense and unputdownable for me. Seraphina and Ryder’s connection was instant and I could feel the chemistry on that first night. Seraphina wasn’t who everyone thought and she was ready to do what she needed to do for her own revenge. Ryder is a swoon worthy guy and I loved his protective side he had. He’s smart, loyal and will do whatever he needs to do to make sure that the right way wins. The chemistry between them was intense and I loved how Ryder knew from the moment he met her that she was special. The action of the story kept me reading non stop as we went through the dangerous world Seraphina and Ryder were in. Brittney is the Queen of plot twists that are weaved perfectly in the story to keep you guessing on what is going to happen next. I loved the tie-ins from previous series and that just added something special to the story. The ending was great and I can’t wait to read what happens next in this series.

Against All Odds is the first book in the Delta Shield series. This is a story about justice and duplicity. Seraphina met Ryder while working as an undercover Accountant and he was staking out the place of her employment to exfil someone. Early on, the instant attraction was established but despite that, Seraphina refused Ryder's help when she got entangled in a bad situation. He lost her until an opportunity to track her fall on his lap. Seraphina did not deviate from her original plans and used her self as a bait while Ryder and his team were hot on her heels. Her reckless behavior drives Ryder crazy and his growing attraction to her is borderline obsession.

The book is enjoyable, especially Alex and Reed, Ryder's teammates. Following their line of thoughts as they untangled the messy web their enemies created is entertaining. I like the crossover of characters from other series because it's like seeing an old friend again. It's enjoyable and suspenseful thriller. Although the suspense is good, there are parts also that I felt the story dragged in some places, mostly on the first few chapters. Those chapters seem going in circle and mainly centered on Ryder's attraction to Seraphina. The story didn't pick up until 30% into the book. and even then, it seems their growing attraction for each other is like the focal point of the first few chapters. It took a while for Seraphina to tell her story. Also, I wish there were more actual action scenes and not just telling after the fact. I wish both their back stories were told more to connect with the readers. I like both characters but not as fully invested as I have with Brittney's other characters.

I am looking forward to reading Alex and Reed's story. Based from the epilogue, it looks like it will be Alex and Ryder's story. But I could be wrong.
