Chasing Thrills
Reese Abbot and Evelyn Cooper lead very different lives. One of them is an up and comer in the extreme sports world, making a name for himself in competitions that test skill and nerve. The other is a nurse, struggling to balance work, raising her kid brother, and keeping the bills paid on time. When an accident during a competition throws these two into the same hospital room, sparks fly and neither of them are interested in ignoring the fact that they’re drawn to each other. But with their vastly different lifestyles, and the fact that there may be someone with a dangerous grudge against Reese, sparks might not be enough to keep them together.

My name is Lexi Lewis. Reading many romance novels is what eventually got me into writing them myself.
As a teenager, I would constantly go to the library or bookstore and pick up romance novels. While I did enjoy them very much, I noticed that most of the women in these covers and stories where not like me. You see, I'm a an African American woman with curves. Besides perfect looks, these characters I read as a teenager seemed to have perfect lives. Therefore, I was having a hard time relating to the characters in these stories.
I started writing Fantasy and Multicultural Romance stories because I wanted to represent woman of color and give them great romantic stories that they could indulge in and relate to. Love comes in all sizes and colors, so should the women in romance novels.

This was actually a 2.5 or a low 3. Potential-tons of it. So much that I went ahead and started Book2 in the series, but it seems these two aren't maturing the way I had hoped which is my overall issue with the series. Two likeable characters who just come off WAY young. Add to that the baffling financial hardship the heroine is portrayed as having even though she's an RN. Sure, she's raising her kid brother, but really? The way her circumstances are described, you would think she's five minutes from working the corner.
Hero is loveable in that he doesn't seem to know his appeal with the opposite sex. Cute. Only problem with that is that cute only works so long and at some point even my betas need to man up a bit. The only time he seems totally mature is in the bedroom. I'm sure that's ok for some, but not this chick. It doesn't help that due to an accident in the opening scene he's in a walking cast and dependant on others to drive him everywhere, including getting dropped off to see the heroine. Umm...just no. Not sexy. There is some side intrigue in that the hero's accident was a case of sabotage (he's san extreme sports competitor) and its a case of whodunit with his family and potentially his new girlfriend being threatened. Could have been interesting if he hadn't been written as being so clueless and passive about figuring out who is behind the threat.
Its one of those stories that I'll likely finish the third book when/if I'm trapped in an airport or doctor's office and want something semi-interesting to pass the time. I'm not chomping at the bit to continue, but I didn't hate it.
sidenote: Title is a turn off that had this on my shelf for a while. Authors have GOT to stop shooting themselves in the foot with this type of shit.I cracked it open out of boredom and near desperation the other night. I know quite a few people who are taking a pass on this one off the title ALONE. So ya..it matters.

And yet ANOTHER dark skinned, short, natural haired heroine who doesn't think she's pretty. So done with this theme as well. Sad too because the excerpt I read was really good. Sometimes I wonder if these IR authors even know or understand the effed-up messages they're sending.

Numerous typos throughout.
As far as the story goes, it could be worse but it could be better as well. The romance plays out more like a couple of high school students instead of mid 20s professional adults. The physical romance scenes feel like a teenager writing about adults. Stripped to the bones, I feel like the story has potential if the author matures a bit.

So close
This was starting to be really good and thrn boom! It ends with a serious cliff hanger and no explanation for ending with a threat from her biological father. This would have been a higher rating if there was more and if this was going to be continued. The story is incomplete. No decision on Reese and her getting together. Finding the person who sabotaged him or anything. Not cool.

Cliffhanger!
If you aren't a fan of abrupt endings that lead to a cliffhanger, you definitely don't want to read this book.

Evelyn (Eve) is a young adult who has been forced to change the plans she initially had for her life. When her mother, the primary caretaker, dies Eve gives up her dreams of being a doctor in exchange for a nursing degree so that she can take care of her brother.
Reese is an extreme sports athlete who was on his way to becoming a pro when an accident derails his plans and lands him in the hospital where Eve is working.
The two who at first look would not appear to have anything in common actually find that they enjoy each other's company and have a romantic attraction towards each other.
The story ramps up when it appears that maybe Reese's accident was not actually an accident at all. In Eve's life there is a visitor who appears on the scene who may threaten what she really loves most.
This story ends with a to be continued so it appears that there is going to be at least a part two that will be coming out.
While I liked the story it was hard for me to actually rate this as a romance. There isn't a large amount of actual interaction between the two main characters other than a few scenes. We get more information on the set up of Reese's accident than we actually do their interactions with each other. For example, we are told that they are texting each other daily and that they had a phone conversation but the only text we actually see is one saying good morning. We also know nothing about the call other than she fell asleep to his voice.
The book leans more toward suspense in my view because the main story has veered off the two main characters in a romantic light and more towards a what is going to happen or who done it.
I'm hoping that this story is really the set up for the next one. That we need to use this information as the basics so that we understand what falls out next. Kind of like having to add before we can do multiplication. I'm also crossing my fingers that in book two we will begin to see more of them actually together as a couple.

Pretty good start
Pretty good start
This book has all you could ever want. An extremely attractive thrill seeking hero, a self depreciating heroine, a budding romance, with the accompanying angst and a surprising amount of steam plus a layout of blocks in preparation for some mystery/suspense action. Even though I'm becoming a bit irritated with this trend of books being all episodic, the cliffhanger was nicely placed. All in all, a good read and I'm looking forward to finishing the story.

Not Bad
Good read. Love the heroine. Very strong young woman. Hero just okay. He's passionate about his profession but not much else. It's cool that he's not the type of man that just thinks about getting in the heroines pants. He actually likes who she is as a person and how she makes him feel just as a person. I like how they genuinely got a chance to get to know each other just through conversation. Would have given it five stars if not for the grammatical errors. Will buy parts two and three even though I prefer standalone novels.

I enjoyed this title. Eve's and Reese relationship didn't feel rushed. I also like that Eve is a nurse, and I'm in the medical field so I could easily relate.
