I absolutely enjoyed this book and learning about the different personalities. Was so interesting to find out what my personality’s are and I have even started pin pointing those around me. I’ve learned a lot about myself in the process of reading this book and found that I have worked on myself a lot but I now can see new areas that I can work and better myself in. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about themselves or people in general.

This was an interesting read for sure! I took the personality profile, and I do feel that it was quite accurate for me. I have a little bit of a hard time with "personality studies" because it seems that people use that as a crutch (i.e. "This is just how I am."), but I like that this one talks about the strengths and weaknesses of each personality and specifies that the goal is to gain each strength and lose each weakness. So there's still plenty of room for a growth mindset over a fixed mindset in this approach to personalities. I would recommend giving it a read!

While I started out a little frustrated with the personality quiz (my personality type came back confusing) this book gave some great insights about people and how we are different. I will be implementing some of her advice in bettering relationships in my own life. I also appreciated the last chapter on the personalities and Christianity.

This book should be read by everyone who wants to understand people. While I don't necessarily agree with the "Christian" slant, the analysis is true and correct of our personalities and how to better understand each other.

People are driven by elements of the personalities they're born with and their learnt behaviours. It's essential to understand people's personality types as a foundation of creating connection. A great read.

Having now finished, I must note that I had to switch to the audiobook, as I found the narrator much more helpful. NOTE FOR PARENTS: DO NOT listen with children present, as extremely inappropriate situations are discussed, which I was horrified at the lack of warning or presence of mind due the author, considering the book is presented from a faith point of view.

Overall, it was a battle between helpful information and complete bias. The author does not strike me as a writer, and maybe that was the disconnect due editing staff. She made her husband sound very insecure and domineering, and herself a happy-go-lucky steamroller. I more appreciated the outsourced stories as examples of the different personalities. I will be way more interested to hear the original personalities book by her parents, if I am able to find it.

-Update: I look back, and I find this incredibly limiting and foundationally incorrect on many levels. What people don't realize (I didn't), is that sometimes the personalities we adopt are not even our own. I do find that regardless of the caviats by the authors, "don't let your personality be an excuse," the opposite frequently happens. There are too many "personality" profiles that are actually rooted in false religion, or are completely against who God says we are.

The fact is, if you feel like you have something influencing your life for the worse, you probably have some literal demons to get rid of, curses to break, and heading healing to obtain. I used to find personality stuff fun and intriguing, now however, all of it is wrong if for no other reason, than I shouldn't be listening to anyone telling me about myself. I need to read the Word and find out what God says about me, whether written, or in spirit. I divorce myself of all of this other rubbish.

Had me pegged.

Learning these personality types may already be helping me improve communication with others and I plan to have my sons take the personality test as well. I took the test a couple of times and it definitely identified my true personality. I enjoyed the book but wanted even more communication.

Loved this book! It explores in depth personality styles - and gives specific, concrete advice on how to best communicate based on not only our own personality style, but on that of the other person. Fascinating stuff!
