When God's people pray, they want answers. Yet many Christians don't know how to pray both effectively--in a way that gets results--and humbly--in a way that aligns with God's will. Prayer is a powerful weapon against the true adversaries of God's principalities, powers, dark rulers, and spiritual wickedness in high places. These forces are the perpetrators of all kinds of addiction, abuse, poverty, and spiritual bondage run rampant through families, churches, cities, and nations. What can believers do to battle these forces? They can pray. Not just any prayer, but the prayer of petition, known throughout Christian history as the prayer that gets results. Prayer of Petition explores this powerful prayer in detail, from the many examples found in God's Word to more recent instances of incredible miracles ushered in by this prayer. Readers will learn the biblical definitions of petition and supplication and examine the key components of preparation, thanksgiving, and humility. As readers learn to petition the Ruler of All, their confidence that God will prevail--no matter what--will grow. As they learn to rest in His promises, peace will reign over their hearts through the coming revival.
This is a very powerful book. I read several negative reviews about The Prayer of Petition. Most of them seemed to believe that what Brother Savelle is teaching is trying to talk God out of something. On the contrary, he's teaching us how to align ourselves with God's Word so that we can receive what he has promised.
Scripture tells us that all of His promises are yes and amen. God also tells us to remind him of his promises. I don't believe for one second that he is forgetful. But reminding him, researching his word and finding the promises that fit what we are trying to manifest in our lives. Prayer doesn't change God; it changes us!
Being taught how to pray is nothing new. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray through what is commonly called "The Lord's Prayer".
I highly recommend this book -- especially for those previously unanswered prayers. God doesn't answer yes, no, or not now. He answers yes and amen when we learn to pray according to His Will (which is His Word).
as a Christian prayer is important to me. Jerry Savelle has taught me how to pray and get more than just results. An excellent book and something to keep handy at all times
When God’s people pray, they want answers. Yet many Christians don’t know how to pray both effectively—in a way that gets results—and humbly—in a way that aligns with God’s will. These forces are the perpetrators of all kinds of evil: Addiction, abuse, poverty and spiritual bondage run rampant through families, churches, cities and nations. This book has been a blessing in my life and my husband's life. We are applying the Prayer of Petition and God performed a miracle in our lives. We strongly believe in the Power of Petition and how it has brought us joy and our faith is getting stronger. I have heard of petitions before but not this way. This is absolutely a faith builder book that everybody should have inntheor hands.
The processes Jerry talks/teaches about will lead to a closer relationship with the Lord, but I found the book rather predictive and in a sense restrictive.
Most of my prayer answers come from an, urgent response to a given situation. Times when my plea for help is almost forced from my heart, by compassion.
Nothing wrong with deliberation, but it seems quite 'formal'????
Wonderful book! This book really gave me insight on how to write out my prayers with scriptures that truly gets results. Believing that whatever I pray for in God's will, shall come to pass, even the impossible.
JERRY Savelle teaches you a whole different way to pray. GOD wants you to prosper! GOD wants you to be debt free. A must read for any FAITHFUL Christian.
Excruciatingly disappointing. I like Savelle, have heard him preach many times. But none of this books have come true for me. I have the same petitions I've had over forty years. Didn't happen....
This is an amazing book! From start to finish, Prayer of Petition underscores the importance of making God our source of help, especially during extreme situations. This book is better suited for times when Christians have tried everything and no person or thing can help except God. It’s designed for when you want and need a break through in health conditions, finances, relationships, family situations, or any situation you deem important.
This book teaches how during severe times our prayer lives and faith should adjust to match the urgency of the need. It shows how to believe and pray our way out of seemingly impossible situations. It teaches how God is moved by faith and to get break through during extreme times, we should: • Spend more time with God • Pray God’s word as prayers • Consistently believe God • Remove prayer barriers such as unbelief and unforgiveness • Talk and behave as if God has already answered the prayer • Continually thank God for his goodness
Initially, I began reading out of curiosity, but discovered within the first few chapters that I had experienced this same type of praying years ago while praying for a family member who was in the hospital, but I never knew it was called “Prayer of Petition.” Ironically, I ended up experiencing my own extreme situation midway through the book. I applied these principles and received answered prayers, a great testimony and victory! I even ended up writing about my testimony! This type of prayer and believing works!
It demonstrates persistence in believing God until your prayers are answered and how to remain in faith when you don’t experience immediate results. Pastor Jerry takes you to a deeper trust in God and demonstrates faith in a different, stronger way and shows how to humble yourself before God.
I thank God for leading Pastor Jerry to write this book and sharing his teachings and experiences. This book guided me to greater respect for God and stronger faith! (I also discovered how much respect Pastor Jerry has for God and his humbleness and love for God!)
Not only is this book informative, but it’s very encouraging. I greatly benefited from reading and highly recommend Prayer of Petition!
Savelle’s approach to prayer in this book strongly suggests you can manipulate God to get what you want, which is on the verge of heresy as this method is hardly distinguishable from ancient pagans utilising the right magical incantations to manipulate the will of their gods. With each type of prayer petition, Savelle encourages the use of Scripture as evidence as to why God should acquiesce to your prayer. He makes the case that in prayer, we approach God as a Judge in His court and therefore must list His promises in Scripture as evidence to why He should acquiesce to our will. (1) This is a prayer that says, “Not Your will be done, O Lord, but my will.” And (2) this is not how Jesus taught us to pray. He didn’t teach us that we enter God’s court as a defendant making our case. Rather, He taught the “Our Father,” that we enter into the lap and forbearance of our heavenly Father and He gladly hears our prayers as His dear children. The promises of God are not magical incantations to get what you want from God. He is not a vending machine. His promises are His spoken Word to provide you comfort and rest according to His good and gracious will.
I got really excited when I started reading this book, and really read through it in short order. I admit: I have strong motivation for wanting to learn how to pray to get the kind of results the author reports, as I have a number of chronic, disabling health conditions, and I would love to be healed. But the more I read, and looked at the scriptures he uses to build his prayers of petition, the more I began to question this. It takes, it seems to me, a very literal reading of verses out of context to interpret them as demonstrating God's will for some of the purposes the author assigns to them. In the end, I decided it was an approach I was simply not comfortable with. God will (or will not) heal me according to His perfect will, not whether I prayed according to any particular format.
