Ever wonder how a restaurant or hotel earns a five-star rating? Is it the people? The location? The service? In most cases, it is all of this and more. Why should your church be any different? "The Five Star Church" reveals how you can pursue Christian excellence and uphold the Lord's command to "honor one another above yourselves" (Romans 12:10). It contains tips, tools, and the inspiration you need to build a top-quality church that people will flock to and participate in. Now matter how small your ministry or budget, God can use your church effectively to make everyone there feel welcome and cared for--the marks of a five-star church!
Stan Toler is senior pastor of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and hosts the television program, "Leadership Today." He conducts seminars throughout the U.S. as the Model Church Instructor for INJOY Ministries, a leadership development institute for pastors. He has written over 30 books and is co-author of The Year Round Church Event Book.
This book is for church leaders and focuses on the importance of continual quality improvement in the church in order to reach more people with the gospel. It uses the analogy of a five-star hotel and how they focus on customer satisfaction. The first part of each chapter reads as a modern fable in the style of many business books today. I found those parts pretty corny and awkwardly written at times, but the content overall in the book is important. Bonuses can be found in the appendices with church secret shopper forms and other examples to start from to make your own forms.
As someone in leadership with my church, I found the book to be very informative. I really enjoyed reading the book and have recommended the book to a number of friends.
