In book one Brock was my favorite and in this story I got to learn more about his story and meet Sarah and Mina. Brock has this tough exterior but a sensitive side to him. Sarah is headstrong and has a big heart. I do feel bad for Elias and hope good things come to him soon. I love how Brock takes charge with Sarah but not too overbearing. As with the first story Amazon Heat, I love how everyone works together when situations call for it. Another amazing book by Valerie Twombly.

So I fell in love with Brock during Amazon Heat so I've been waiting for him to get his own book for a while now and I was not disappointed. This was a great story with a lot of heat and sweetness too. Sarah is a tough demon who knows what she wants and I loved reading just how she gets exactly what she wants. Valerie Twombly has done it again. She's created a beautiful world where demons are sexy and passionate and had me captivated from the first page to long after the book was finished.

With its glimpse into an exotic and erotic paranormal world readers will find themselves drawn to this tale of loss and fear of the future between a man wracked with guilt and the woman who wants to heal him. Throw in some super hot encounters and an out of the blue threat and you get a pulse pounding read that keeps you guessing until the end.
The sensual and emotionally bruised Brock has been crippled by guilt after finding his wife and baby dead at the hands of zealots. For years he's closed himself off from happiness and from his powers by denying his sex drive. It's left him a shell of a man who returns home to try to deal with his past. Life throws him for a loop though once he meets a remarkably understanding woman who means more to him than meets the eye. He'll need all the help he can get in putting his wife's memory to rest as well as saving the woman who irrevocably changes his plans for the future. Brock's pain is palpable as he feels like a failure for not being able to protect his family. He doesn't want to experience that kind of pain ever again and fights the deepening connection burgeoning between him and fellow demon Sarah. With the prospect of losing her permanently it's a race against time to keep history from repeating itself.
Sarah is an extremely kind hearted woman who is intrigued by the demon next door. She knows he's emotionally damaged and at first just wants to be his friend, but there's an instantaneous attraction that neither can ignore. She sees her future when she looks at him but he fights those feelings in wanting to protect her. She wants a Mate and believes him to be the one but it's a rocky journey when another sexy demon enters the picture and leaves her with the biggest decision of her life. Sarah is strong-willed and supportive. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it but Brock leaves her full of doubt in a conclusion that leaves you on the edge of your seat until the final page is turned.
These two demons are compelling with a connection that crackles with sexual tension. Their relationship progresses quickly due to their demonic lineages which is reflected in some very erotic interludes. The introduction of Prince Elias, who's super sexy with a powerful personality, complicates Sarah's relationship with Brock and ultimately puts her in harm's way. The introduction of the zealots came out of the blue though and felt a bit manipulative in getting Brock to make a decision about Sarah. Hopefully this issue, just touched on here, will be addressed more in the future as well as finding Prince Elias a Mate of his own as I found myself drawn to him. The mythos surrounding the demons is equally compelling as is the idea of sex increasing their paranormal abilities and this too I hope to see expanded. Ultimately this is a fun appetizer with a premise that's just getting interesting and here's to more demonic intrigue in the future!

~ 4 Emerald Fire Stars ~
Emerald Fire is book two in the Demon Heat series and can be read as a stand alone. This was my first Demon Heat read in the series and one that I found satisfying.
We have Brock our widowed hero who is still morning the lose of his mate and child after 50 years. Then we have Sarah a beautiful demon who is looking for her mate.
The story is not all that in-depth, but rather a nice quick read with enough plot and smutty heat to keep you entertained. The world is not very complicated and Ms. Twombly does a good job describing the demons and there mating habits. How a demon recognizes it’s mate and the possibility that they can have more then one. As some know I’m not a big fan of insta-love type story’s and this one does have that insta-love/lust, but it’s written in a way that makes it agreeable. I enjoyed Brock and Sarah. It was wonderful to see the growth in there feelings. We also have a second mate potential for Sarah that shows up and adds a little threesome mix triangle to the equation. Also we have an old enemy or new, however you look at it, that wants demons eradicated and you see how well everyone works together when a situation arises.
Ms. Twombly has created a passionate read, with sexy fiery demons. It’s the perfect escape having just the right amount of naughty heat and sweetness.

Brock is still mourning the death of his mate and son after 50 years. Now he wants to try and move on. When he returns to his families home to take the spell off the house he meets Sarah another demon. Sarah is starting to wonder if she will ever find her mate. When she meets Brock she feels an attraction, is it just sexual or could he be her mate. Then she meets Elias and the attraction is instant. Sarah knew mates came about in one of two ways, instant attraction or slow attraction. To go from no possible mate to the possibility of two in a couple days Sarah didn't know if to be freaked out or excited. How's a girl to choose?
This was a quick read, not a lot of depth to the story but more of an erotic paranormal romance. Enjoyed the characters, how everyone came together in a time of need. There is chemistry between al the characters.You have Brock and Sarah and their hot sex scenes. Then you have Sarah, Brock and Elias together in a fan yourself scene. Nothing like good old demon sex. Throw in a few bad guys for some suspense and you have an great afternoon quickie.
Lovers of paranormal and erotica will enjoy the story, but once you hit the steamy scenes the paranormal part kind of fades from your mind

This book is a fun sex romp, and the first book that I have read by Valerie Twombly. The books is succinct, without flowery details to distract you from the story. You meet lonely demons with a raging sex drive, Brock and Sarah. Brock is a widow, still mourning the loss of his mate and child, and he doubts he will ever meet another who can fill their place. In comes Sarah, a beautiful demon looking for her mate and intrigued by the story of the demon-widow. She happens to encounter a second mate, Elias, who I felt was aggressive, a little annoying, and too forward to be a match for her, especially considering her chemistry with Brock. You get to feel their desire more times than you would expect from a book of its length. The story is just complicated enough to keep you going through, but light enough to read through quickly without confusion. A demon finding its mate is explained to be instantly recognized, so you don’t need the buildup from a long romance showing the characters falling in love. I would recommend this as a great beach read, good for providing a brief escape with some naughty, chocolaty fun.

Erotica is just not my scene. I don't mind sex in a book, (it really doesn't do much for me to be honest), so constant sex in a book is pretty meh for me. I prefer action mixed in with the story. So bearing that in mind, I delved back beneath the covers of "Emerald Fire" - having read it once and not knowing how to word my review.
So the sex - there's lots of sex action, after all, that is the point of Erotica, right? But was it any good? Actually, yeah it was. Valerie Twombly can write a sex scene without it coming across as thrashy and cheap. At the same time it's not hardcore porn. It's just right.
Story: "Emerald Fire" is only a short story and I'd have loved it had it been longer, but that's just my preference. Again, though short, it is well written. There was a beginning, a middle and an ending and although Erotica doesn't overly appeal to me, the storyline did.
There's three main characters: Brock, Elias and Sarah. Brock has loved and lost, Sarah has yet to find the one and Elias is a Prince.
Brock was my favourite of the three. He is haunted by what he has lost, emotions have held them in his thrall and he is slowly awakening from them. It's hard not to feel for someone like that.
Overall, for a short story, "Emerald Fire" delivers a good paranormal erotic tale surrounding a love triangle. Just because the genre is not my cup of tea does not mean it deserves any less than 4 Shamrocks.

Emerald Fire is book 2 in the Demon Heat series. Brock & Sarah's story is so sweet. Brock is my very favorite Demon. I absolutely loved this book.
Brock is grieving over the lose of his mate Mina and their infant son, who were murdered by a human anti-demon group many years ago. Even after 50 years he just can't let go and move on. Brock blames himself for his families deaths and Mina's sprit can't rest until he lets her go and forgives himself. He hears and sees the ghostly image of his dead mate. She speaks to him saying..."You need to love again". Enter Sarah, who is also a Demon. Sarah is lonely and has been waiting for her mate for a few hundred years and longs to find him. When she first sees Brock, Sarah feels the connection between them that can only mean one thing.....he is her mate! The love they share for each other is ever present, Sarah is a feisty female Demon and wants a mate desperately willing to fight to win Brock over.
The secondary characters in this book are familiar ones from book 1 in this series Amazon Heat....Damon and his brother Elias. This story is exciting as well as very hot, hot, hot! The love scenes between Brck and Sarah are extremely steamy *fans self*. Plus there's a bit of bad guy action in this one too *shhhh, don't worry I won't give anymore away*!!

I was given this book by the author and chose to review it.
We first met Brock in Amazon Heat. I was hoping he'd get a story of his own and thanks to the author I wasn't disappointed. Brock is still grieving over the loss of his mate Mina and their infant son at the hands of a human anti demon group 50 years ago. Mina's spirit can't move on until Brock moves on and it doesn't seem like he's going to move on then along comes Sarah.
Sara is a feisty female demon who knows what she wants. She wants a mate and the mate she's chosen is Brock. She's willing to do whatever she needs to convince Brock that he's ready for a new mate. Can she convince brat to let me know go and start a new life with her? To find out you have to read the short, sweet ,steamy romance. Bravo Ms. Twombly you've done it again. I was hooked from page one and couldn't put it down.

Wow! Hot stuff! This book was super steamy. I won it in a contest. I wasn't familiar with Valerie's writing before this book. I didn't read the first book and was a bit worried that I would feel gaps in the story. I didn't.
This book starts off mentioning events that are from the previous book but it was done in a way that could have just been unexplained character history. It didn't leave me confused or regretting missing out on the other one.
The sexual language was a bit more graphic than I'm used to but it was still tasteful. Let's just say she doesn't use the usual metaphors. :)
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to getting the first one based in this world and any other books by this author that I can get my hands on.
I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for...more. :)

What can I say? There is a lot going on in this story. I definitely recommend reading the series in order starting with the first installment. There are so many characters, and you’ll want to know how everyone ties into the series.
It’s an interesting story that kept my attention. The characters have their moments and if you are a lover of paranormal you’ll enjoy the main characters Dahlia, Patrick and Dean. I would have enjoyed a little twist to the vampire/werewolf type, but they are still characters you can get vested in.
Reading this story you will get vampires, werewolves, and more. You’ll have to grab a copy to get the goods. I’ll need to go grab the first installment myself and get caught up. Enjoy!

Now she has to choose which to bond with after a night sampling both suitors.
Valerie Twombly has done it again with a sexy second book in her Demon Heat Series. This can be read as a standalone as well. Relatable characters and scorching heat make this a great addition to anyone TBR pile.

I enjoyed this book it was a good read for a short story. I would recommend it to someone that wants a fast hot sexy read.
