Meet Bryony: she’s a fun-loving, very single TV production assistant whose idea of sport is the Jimmy Choo sales scrum.
Meet Jackson: Cycling’s bad boy superstar. Injured and out of a certain race this summer, without his training, he’s looking for another distraction…
Bryony’s facing a triple whammy – her last single friend just named the day, her mother’s offering to have her eggs frozen, and the guy she’s loved from afar, forever, has just got hitched. So she’s more than happy to accept the offer of a totally out of character but seriously steamy one night of no-strings fun. Especially when the guy in question is so attractive he even looks good in Lycra!
Jackson’s on the lookout for a new career but if the opportunity to work on TV means a fortnight with the most uptight woman in the world, he’d rather not bother. He never goes in for seconds – and who in their right mind would head off in a campervan, with a woman who irons her knickers?
Add in a tandem (yes a tandem) and fast forward to double trouble for a summer neither of them will ever forget!

Let me just tell you this first: It’s Jane Linfoot at her best!!! A sexy, enjoyable and very entertaining read!
It was great to read about Bryony again. We already know her from The Right Side of Mister Wrong and I was so happy she got her own story now. Moreover, I really enjoyed reading about Brando and Shae again.
Bryony had to learn to be independent really early and she has difficulties with trust. Her dad left and also her brother left for college. This is all still in her head and for her it’s clear not to go into a serious relationship. Bryony is strong, stubborn and she knows what she wants, or at least she knew it until Jackson Gale came into the picture.
Jackson Gale is a famous and very very sexy cyclist. The sexual tension between them was up from the start. This story is full of great flirtatious and funny scenes. A great mixture of hot scenes and a real chick-lit novel. Jane’s writing is bubbly, entertaining and very sexy. Jackson is very arrogant and full of himself, but I loved the way he changed through out the novel and became such a caring and loving man, and all this just because of love. As for Bryony, I got really annoyed with her at one point, just because she couldn’t see the truth and was really fighting her feelings. We were left in the dark until the end!!!
Reading the story from both perspectives made me understand them both better and they both had their own story to tell and figure out next to their relationship.
An entertaining, light-hearted and funny story, with a lot of chemistry. Yay to Jane Linfoot!!!
Well every so often I enjoy a change from my usual genre of Crime fiction. And jump over to the other side for a bit of light hearted Chic Lit. I've had this on my kindle for lets say a little longer than I should of had. But I get there eventually. It is an easy read, a fun read, something to brighten up these cold March days. The style of writing is flirty and fun, plenty of humour thrown in, which makes the story not only Hot, but very enjoyable. Get yourself comfy, box of chocolates and feet up and if this doesn't help make you feel good, then I don't know what will. Get ready for the ride of your life.
Bryony is a single TV production assistant who is almost the last one left unmarried in her group of friends. They’re all coupling up, getting hitched and having babies. Even the guy that Bryony has loved from afar for years has gotten married in a whirlwind courtship. Apparently the situation for Bryony is so dire that her mother is even offering to have Bryony’s eggs frozen. Just in case The One doesn’t come along any time soon.
Whilst working on Sporting Chances, Bryony meets cycling star Jackson Gale. A notorious playboy and superstar of the sport, a crash and resulting injury has put Jackson out of competing for the summer. He’s appearing on Sporting Chances as part of cleaning up his image. It’s supposed to be a simple segment doing a tandem bike ride with the show’s host and then an interview. But when the host is found puking in the toilets, it’s up to Bryony, the only one that can fit into the shoes needed for the tandem bike, to fill in.
She also does the interview and the chemistry between her and Jackson is electric and the two of them act on it as a one off night later back at the hotel. When the powers that be see the footage, it’s immediately proposed that Jackson and Bryony tour the country in a campervan, doing tandem rides and ferreting out local treasures. Jackson, who never goes back for a second night with a lady can’t help but be distracted by Bryony. But she’s looking for the real deal – a long term relationship with children someday. And even though they cannot keep their hands off each other, Jackson isn’t the sort of man that’s going to step in and provide the future and security that Bryony craves. As soon as he’s 100% he’ll be back off to train with the team anyway and prepare for races. It’s far better to keep it strictly casual, strictly physical. That way…no one gets in too deep and no one gets hurt. What could go wrong?
I’m still craving feel-good chick-lit style novels with lots of funny moments and a cute romance as a heroine figures out her life. This one looked the goods and although I did enjoy a lot of it, I think my enjoyment was mostly tied to Bryony and her journey. She’s kind of the last ‘single’ in her circle of friends. Everyone to her, is getting married and having children. She wants this as well but she also has a lot of issues about trust and commitment stemming from her childhood and the father that walked out on her and the rest of her family.
When she meets Jackson, the chemistry between them is off the charts. We’re in Jackson’s head a lot and he’s always very expressive in his inner thoughts about how much he wants Bryony and how attracted he is to her. Also he has pretty much, a permanent hard-on. And given he wears lycra relatively often, it’s not like his attraction can be kept much of a surprise from her. But she’s also attracted to him too and the two of them hook up the day they meet and then later on, when they’re on the camper van trip, although Bryony tries to say it’s not going to happen again and Jackson is more of a one night only man it’s obvious it’s going to happen. A lot more. Many, many more times.
Bryony is very organised (bossy, Jackson says) and in control. She likes to control as much of her life as is possible. She even irons her underwear, which is rather baffling to me. Much to my mother and grandmother’s horror, I don’t iron. In fact when we were visiting my parents a little while ago and my mother was ironing, my son (then about 4) came in and said “What are you doing Nan? What is that?” I think my mother nearly died. Jackson, in contrast is not the sort of person that irons his underwear. He’s a take risks, camp in the bush, go hard or go home type. And Bryony is the one who books the luxurious hotel room so she has access to her hair straightener, rather than rough it in the van. At times I really liked the way their opposite personalities played off against each other but at other times, it did become a bit irritating. Jackson is extremely arrogant, which is normal for someone in his position I suppose. He’s an Olympic medalist, at the top of his game, incredibly successful and didn’t get to where he is without working hard but also taking risks. However at times he’s almost condescending toward Bryony and the way in which she chooses to live her life and the control she likes to have. At times I found myself disliking him and his needling and his smirking at her. I liked him a lot more towards the end, when he grows up a little bit and realises that his life is really about to change big time and that the future is in his hands, it just has to be up to him to decide to go get it. He really does step up and his growth in the latter part of the book is really well done.
I think those that enjoy the male point of view will really appreciate this book because Jackson is always a strong part of the narrative and his thoughts are always pretty loud and clear. I enjoyed their chemistry and I discovered there’s a book that came before this one about Bryony’s older brother which I might track down and give a go.
When Jane emailed me a few weeks ago for a promo piece on the blog for this books release she also offered up the chance to review it for her. Included in the email was the blurb. I didn't read it. I saw Jane's offer and internally jumped up and down at having another of her books to read. Sometime after reading How to win a guy in 10 dates (her first novel, but the 2nd of her books that I read) Jane Linfoot has become one of my favourite authors whose books NEED to be read. No blurb needed.
As I discovered in previous books, Linfoot has a way of drawing the reader into the story from the very beginning that feels effortless for us the reader but takes an incredible amount of talent to do. You simply fall into the book and get taken along for the ride (pun intended). I loved the chemistry between Jackson and Bryony, even from their first meeting you could almost feel the heat coming off the pages (or in my case the kindle) I even joked that my kindle had steamed up and was in danger of melting. When they got together it became explosive (in all the good ways). I loved watching them rub each other up the wrong way and the right way ;-)
Linfoot once again hits the mark with her combination of fun, flirty romance, steamy sex, plot and characters that are far from perfect but totally real. If you haven't read any of her books yet then you need to pick them up now. Go, quickly. You'll not regret it.
I love uptight, overly organised characters and Bryony was perfect! She feels the need to be in constant control of all situations, plans meticulously and thinks she knows where she’s going in life, even if she’s not totally happy about it. I adored her from the get-go.
The chemistry between her and Jackson was there instantly from the moment they met, which is hardly surprising considering how they actually meet, and it doesn’t let up for the duration. Thrown together for a large chunk of the book, the pair flirt shamelessly as they take in some fabulous sights and sounds from the south of the country, all described perfectly by the author, and set out to manage each other’s reactions, in order to gain the upper hand. It’s comical in a way, as both take a long time to see what’s right there in front of them but a few things get in the way, one of them being a whopper of a turn in the story, and it all looks set to end in tears.
The realisation that just because things change, doesn’t mean you don’t get what you need to be happy is the core of this fab story. Jane Linfoot keeps the reader on their toes – swinging from hot, steamy scenes one minute to frigid cold shoulders the next – with a book that’s should be on all romance reader’s wish list.
review by Charlotte Foreman on behalf of Bestchicklit.com
In the past, I’ve loved Jane Linfoot’s books. This one, however, was quite the disappointment. The writing was poor, both in terms of the number of basic spelling and grammatical errors to the half-finished sentences and incomplete phrases that somehow are present as a whole. From the beginning, it was full of cringey euphemisms, unbelievable scenarios and barely likeable characters. There’s the lead guy, who is so predatory it’s uncomfortable; the lead girl who is bossy and domineering and doesn’t seem to appreciate that if she says no, it should mean no and it not being taken as such isn’t a sign of manliness; the overprotective brother who only shows up when another knight-in-shining-amour is required; and the best friend who skirts on the boundary of relevance but never quite has enough of a presence to add anything other than a vapid ‘oh but you must love this guy that I know nothing about your relationship with’ at the eleventh hour. I’m trying not to hold this book against what is otherwise an author I normally enjoy quite a bit.
This love story was really cute. I have to say, though, the way Bryony acted when she found out she was pregnant really frustrated me. I so wanted to tell her to grow up already. Haha. But the ending was perfect.
I received an e-copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
High Heels & Bicycle Wheels by Jane Linfoot was so bloody steamy, I wouldn't have been surprised if my Kindle had started smoking.
Huge thank you to the fabulous author Jane Linfoot, and of course, her publishers HarperImpulse for providing me with a copy of High Wheels & Bicycle Wheels via Net Galley. After reading The Right Side of Mr Wrong, I was completely smitten with Jane's writing style. Her fun, exciting characters, her hot and sexy love sessions and her exhilarating plots make for one fabulous read that you just can't stop enjoying!
In High Heels & Bicycle Wheels, Jane introduces us to Bryony Marshall and Jackson Gale, two incredible forces of nature managing to collide into each other at just the right moment. The entire plot is written in a third person narrative giving us a taste of what both Bryony and Jackson are thinking which I freaking loved. There's just something thrilling about getting into a guy's mind!
Bryony Marshall was pure brilliance. I loved her right from the get-go. She was smart, determined, fierce, and a whirlwind of high wheels and precision. Bryony was a little bit of a control freak, which really got on Jackson's nerves, and she definitely didn't stand for any crap off anybody. After a heart-breaking past of losing two men in her life that she wasn't ready to lose, Bryony is completely against the idea of getting serious with any man. She doesn't do relationships, she doesn't get close enough for her emotions to become all tangled up and she definitely doesn't do rude, arrogant, cocky men who drive her to the brink of insanity, which basically just defined Jane's main male character, the deliciously confident Mr Jackson Gale.
Urgh. Well, the first time you meet Mr Gale is when Bryony stumbles upon him stripping off and slipping into some tight, revealing Lycra. Jane captures Bryony's reaction perfectly. Bryony wants to look away, but she just can't... and I mean, who can blame her? Would YOU have been able to look away?
"This guy was ripped enough to double as a super human - one hell of a toned back, broad shoulders bursting with muscles under that slippery Lycra top he was finally dragging on."
Yeah. No. I didn't think so. Jackson is the definition of frustrating. His cocky devilish arrogance is something that Bryony can't stand yet it's also everything that she loves. His smirk, the amusement that is almost always evident in his eyes, and that body? Jackson has ridden bikes all of his life and it's something that he loves. He loves to win, he loves to push his body to it's limits and he doesn't eat ice-cream. Ever. But after an accident that left his knee in dreadful condition, Jackson's biking fate is hanging in the balance, and he's not sure what he's going to do with himself if his biking career comes crashing to an end. He is driven, sure of himself and has the reputation of a dirty, filthy bad-boy. When it comes the ladies, Jackson has one rule.He never goes in for seconds. Ever. What would be the point? The whole marriage and children thing is definitely not for him and he doubts it ever will be. He doesn't want to be tied down to a needy woman who wants his attention 24/7. That is of course, until he clocks Bryony Marshall all wrapped up like a Christmas present in hot pink Lycra approaching him to take the place of the woman who would have been riding on the back of the tandem with him, if that woman hadn't been sent home sick. Jackson can't take his eyes off her, and Bryony finds herself in the exact same position, although she's not stupid enough to admit it. Being this close to him whilst they pedal together isn't what she had in my mind. In fact, what she had in mind was to stay as far away from this bad boy as possible.
From the moment Bryony joins Jackson on the tandem, she knows she's in trouble. Jane forces her two main characters together, and then let's the magic between them unfold. There's passion, there's intense attraction and there's throwing caution to the wind and hoping and praying that when tomorrow comes around, any feelings between them will have disappeared and they can forget all about each other. Unfortunately for them, Jane had other plans.... ;)
Jane is absolutely incredible at creating passion and zipping chemistry. She does so with such detail and emotion and excitement! I love the need, the want, the tense yet buzzing atmospheres that she so easily creates. I also adore the way her characters are yanked together as if Jane is saying, "You're going to like each other and there's not a single damn thing that either of you can do about it." I found Bryony and Jackson to be made of the same thread. They were both full of determination and failure isn't an option, and so between them, there's just way too much stubbornness for them to ever get along. They argue, they insult each other, and they can't stand each other's need to have the last word. But of course where there's a flame, there's bound to be a fire, and between me and you readers, this isn't just a fire, this is an explosion.
Another thing that I just want to touch upon is that if you have read The Right Side of Mr Wrong by Jane, you'll get to see Brando and Shea again! WAHOO! I loved this! I loved catching up with her previous characters and seeing them settled into their new lives. It's magical, and makes them seem so much more real and a million times less fictional.
Becca's Books is rating High Heels & Bicycle Wheels by Jane Linfoot with FIVE delicious cupcakes. I loved it from back to front. I was completely bowled over by the chemistry and the characters and their impulsive desires for each other. It was incredible, and again, Jane has SUCH a talent when it comes to writing. It was a perfect flirty, fun read and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. Not only will you fall hard for Jackson Gale and his cheeky arrogance but you'll be wishing that you were Bryony Marshall on the receiving end of it. It was exciting, addictive and EVERYTHING that defines Jane writing style. MASSIVE congratulations from me, Jane! I absolutely bloody loved it!
I have requested this book on NetGalley because firstly: the title. High Heels and Bicycle Wheels, there couldn't be bigger difference between those two, could it, and so I thought it's going to be a funny, light read. Secondly, the cover. Yes, you already know that I am a sucker when it comes to bright, colourful, eye - catching covers. Thirdly, I have read so many enthusiastic tweets about it that I just couldn't NOT request it. On the other hand, everything that has two wheels is like a different world to me. I don't like cycling, I don't like bikes, I am very much like our Bryony here and I need a silicon saddle before I even consider to look at the bicycle. The very many Tour de' whatevers were never my thing, and I think it's the most boring sport in the world. But I appreciate Jackson:) And here again, I feel like an idiot because while many people rated this book with 5 stars, I am giving it only 3. Probably it's again it's not you, it's me case. Bryony is a production assistant, very successful in her job, who always get her way. She's very good at charming people, batting her eyelids or just smile to get them to do what she wants. No matter if it's at work or at the hotel on the trip with Jackson. She's also the most unathletic person in the world so just imagine her surprise when, while at the event, she learns that she must go for a tandem bicycle ride with a top cyclist Jackson. Jackson is recovering after his race accident and his management is using this time to improve his "bad boy" reputation and the event of bike racing for charity is the first part to this. He doesn't expect that the presenter behind his back on the bike is going to be totally sexy, dressed in an extreme tight lycra and sneakers with heels, but also scared of cycling, Bryony. Bad luck or not, the video of their race is published and is immediately a hit, so they are sent on research for a TV program. How are they going to survive the trip? Is it true that opposites attract? Bryony is very organised (in her own eyes) and very bossy (in Jackson's eyes). My, she even irons her knickers, and as much as I like ironing (please, don't use the fact against me. NEVER) I have never ironed my knickers. She has some issues with trust, coming from the past when her father left her and her family. But seeing all her friends tying the knots and popping out the babies she starts to long for her own family and babies. She is also not afraid of saying her opinions and showing Jackson who is the boss on their trip, and she's also aware of her needs and desires and she can really grab life by its horns. Or rather, Jackson... And not necessarily by his horns, if you know what I mean... And yes, she always wears high heels. Even on a bike...And she's much more a city girl than a camper girl so the trip through the country in a camper van is not her idea of perfect... But it's Jackson's, that's for sure. Well, being a cyclist you must be an outdoorsy type, if you like it or not. He's a Sport God with a permanent hard - on and the ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ attitude and he's proud of this fact. But it didn't make him a bad guy in my eyes, oh no, he was charming, sexy as hell and let Bryony think that she's the boss, that's what I call the epitome of diplomacy. No, I didn't like him right from the beginning, with his smirking and his arrogance but oh my, Bryony had found his soft spots and then he was much calmer and much nicer. As well as our two main heroes there is a bunch of very colourful and vivid other characters that add much to the story and complete the characters of Bryony and Jackson. But those were the two of them who stole the whole show, their banter, their snapping at each other made the book and the electricity between them was almost palpable. I liked that the story is told from two points of view, from Bryony and Jackson's, I always enjoy books written in this way as I love, really love to know what the characters are thinking about the same things, and those are often such different thoughts that it makes the whole story much more hilarious. So what was wrong with this book for me? Well, it felt like never - ending story to be honest, I had a feeling that it is never going to end and I was up to my nose with the everlasting will they / won't they. I felt like I was standing in one place, turning in circles. I think I would love this book if it was really a little shorter (me!!! I love books that look like a brick!!!), because with this whole indecision and looking for problems it just didn't hold my attention as I would like it to. Yes, I skipped some pages without the feeling that I'm missing something. Jane's writing it easy and light and she can sure create a funny, complex story. The characters were larger than life and the descriptions were brilliant. And it was chick - lit sexy and flirty story, so if you are looking for some spice this book is for you. It's hot baby, hot but in a very, very tactful way. And there is no way you won't fell in love wit Jackson and his hard as steel buttocks. Jane has also incredible way of creating the tension and writing such chemistry between two characters is not a gift that every author has. Jane has succeeded. I also liked the original plot, I think I have never ever read about cycling before, and also the idea of researching for a TV program and sending two so much different people on this research just hit the mark for me. In short, it was a nice, sexy read with some twists and turns, full of passion and lightly written. I wanted to love it as much as the other readers and I am very sorry that it was not the case but I've heard many good things about Jane's previous books and am sure that I'm going to treat myself to them sooner rather than later. Copy received from publisher in exchange for a review.
I was a bit disappointed with this book. I love The Little Wedding Shop series but this has a totally different vibe, as if written by someone else. The storyline was very good, just not the use of words that I’ve come to expect from a great author. I wanted to finish the book as I wanted to know how the twists and turns worked out, unlike The Wedding Shop books that I want to finish but never want to end at the same time!
Sadly, this book was completely and totally forgettable. I loved the premise, I started off liking the execution. And then it didn’t really move forwards from there. I couldn’t find anything to relate to in either of the characters and just… it felt stagnant. I really wanted to love this book. Mostly because I absolutely adored the cover and title. It just wasn’t meant to be.
Jane Lightfoot is one of the authors that I know what to expect from her titles: funny, somewhat control-obsessed heroines with an aversion to commitment and a fascination with all things Laboutin. These aren’t traditionally pretty heroines, they are always too something, which keeps them from being cookie-cutter and familiar. Bryony is one of those heroines, and I think my favorite to date. ‘Too tall” by most standards, she refuses to bow to convention by always wearing her heels – no matter the footing. A production assistant who always seems to get her way, either by charming, cajoling or simply steamrolling people to her point of view, her whole world is turned upside down when she has to conquer her fear and ride on a tandem bicycle behind a world-famous racer.
Jackson Gale is in recovery: not just the physical, but a major overhauling of his ‘bad boy’ reputation among the journalists and public. A simple tandem bike race for charity is the first step in this repair of his public image. Meant to be a simple ride, he is first faced with the inability of a known presenter as his second, and then faced with the reality that is Byrony, stuffed into a racing kit that is stretching the lycra to extremes, a tall expanse of bright pink wrapper on a woman who totally knocks his socks off.
As a couple, these two are sniping and snarking at one another constantly, but the electric charge is palpable, and Byrony loosens her iron-fisted control to have one night with Jackson. He’s safe, there is no chance of a connection, and she mistakenly believes that staying out of the bedroom will keep their connection casual.
From the first page to the last, Linfoot draws you into the world she is creating: you know these characters (or their types) and you can understand their issues, even as you laugh when things go amiss. With a knack for presenting characters that are all too human and giving them moments of doubt, fear, passion and outright ridiculous scenes where you can do little but laugh, her stories are great getaway reads – perfect for when you want to escape and be taken for a ride. The connections are believable and secondary characters provide interesting counterpoints to push the main couple to their AHA moment, even when they are both fighting through their own baggage to get there. From flirty to knock your socks off steamy moments, the story never disappoints and develops with readers able to follow and cheer on the relationship.
I received an eArc copy of the title for purpose of honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
First things first, I must warn you – this story is pretty darn hot! Needless to say, I loved it. Ahem. Jackson! Don’t get even get me started… At first I wasn’t keen on him, he may have been ‘all gravelly voice and hollow cheeks and stubble’ but he seemed very much the ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ type but then I found out he liked watching Disney films and WHAM! I was in love… The chemistry between him and Bryony is amazing and they are one of the hottest couples I’ve ever read about (and also, at times, one of the most infuriating!) I loved Bryony, a mix between ‘Barbie and Wonder Woman’ she is my kind of girl. She likes her heels and her hair straighteners and there’s nothing wrong with that. She is strong and feisty; however her take on relationships is not the best. After losing her Dad in the way she did I can understand her fear of getting close to anyone. Then there’s Jackson who’s Mum walked out on him and his brothers, leaving him with a fear of commitment too. All in all Bryony and Jackson are so much alike and they both like to be in control which could either be a recipe for disaster or a match made in heaven… I love Jane Linfoot and I was hugely excited about High Heels and Bicycle Wheels and in no way at all did it disappoint. It was sexy, funny, FULL of passion and totally absorbing. I had to find out if Jackson and Bryony would be together. It’s not predictable as there are a few unexpected twists and turns to events which will keep you guessing what’s going to happen. I thought that having the story from both Jackson and Bryony’s perspective’s was a great idea, that way you feel as though you bond with both characters and I love always knowing what the other one might be thinking. I also really enjoyed reading a story about a cyclist; I don’t recall ever reading a novel about anyone with this career before so it was fascinating to find out about Jackson’s lifestyle and his training. Plus he was a ‘Dime’ so of course he was a joy to read about… High Heels and Bicycle Wheels is funny, exciting, smoking hot and all in all a fabulously enjoyable read.
I absolutely love Jane Linfoot’s style of writing and her fun, fast-paced and flirty books never fail to put a smile on my face. For people looking for some sexy chick-lit, she’d be the first author I’d recommend. I loved How to Win a Guy in 10 Dates and The Right Side of Mr. Wrong was even better – leaving me completely excited for Jane’s latest novel. High Heels & Bicycle Wheels is Jane’s best book yet!
When I read The Right Side of Mr. Wrong, I loved Bryony and really wanted to see her involved more so I was thrilled she got her own standalone novel. I was laughing from virtually the first line and swooning halfway down the page. As soon as Bryony crashes into celebrity cyclist Jackson Gale to kick off this story, I just knew I was going to love the chemistry between them and the crazy ride they were sure to go on. I dare anyone to read High Heels & Bicycle Wheels and not fall in love with Jackson – or at least need to cool yourself down a few hundred times.
I loved Bryony – she was stubborn and feisty and not afraid to show her flirtatious, playful side. Her interaction with Jackson was completely the highlight of this book. Not only was it plain HOT, the way they both always wanted their own way when you knew one would have to back down, and how they both teased each other for their own quirks (ironed knickers, anyone?) really livened the book up and made it downright wonderful, light-hearted entertainment.
As I reached about two thirds of the way through, I loved how the plot was developing and building up to a great ending and this was yet another reminder of what a charming, fabulous author Jane is. I liked how as well as Jackson and Bryony’s stories, other characters have been created which I could easily see in their own standalone novel such as Cressy. Along with the gorgeous, fitting cover and the all-out fun, sweet and saucy plot, High Heels & Bicycle Wheels is one of the best, most enjoyable books I’ll read all year.
'High Heels and Bicycle Wheels' is a must read for all sexy romance addicts. If you read Jane Linfoot's last novel you will recognise Bryony Marshall. She is the sister of Brando the hero of 'The Right Side of Mr Wrong'. Bryony, a production assistant meets the celebrity guest of her latest show in a most revealing way. Jackson a sexy cyclist, super stud proves hard for the feisty heroine to ignore despite her controlling nature and hard-won independence. The chemistry between the two is rapid and leads to the first of many sensuous encounters in a novel that is teeming with sensuality.
I love the realistic touches of humour. Bryony and Jackson's often painful soul-searching reveals their complexities and vulnerabilities. This insight into their psyche makes them likeable even when they behave badly. The story's originality is refreshing, as is the whistle-stop tour of England's coast and countryside, making this a great holiday read.
If you like your love scenes prolific and fiery and enjoy a nail-biting, romantic ending 'High Heels and Bicycles' is for you.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
I would like to thank author Jane Linfoot for sending me a copy of this in exchange for a fair and honest review.
When Jane sent me a copy of the cover for this I was a little disappointed that it didn’t have the trade mark high heels on it, only to discover, the high heels are there but slightly hidden because of the bicycle, having said that, now I have read the book I think the cover is perfect.
How can this book not be great with a steamy line of
‘Hot naked tush alert’
This is on the first page!!!! Hooked yet? I was, I couldn’t wait to start reading…
We are back with a familiar character in the form of Bryony (some may remember she is Brando’s sister in The Right Side of Mr Wrong), I can see now why Jane said Bryony had her own story to be told, I love Bryony she is strong willed and used to getting her own way by using whatever means necessary, that is until she meets Jackson.
Jackson is the hot bad boy of cycling (there’s not enough bad boys out there anymore) with a hot body, how could we not like him right?
Jane’s characters are all strong characters but with a vulnerable side, as we get to know each character, we get to know their good points as well as their weaknesses.
I love the flirting between Bryony and Jackson, even when each of them try to deny that they like each other, the chemistry literally sizzles off the page, Jane also writes some pretty steamy sex scenes, all this contributes to a wonderful story with brilliant characters.
We get to meet Brando again, a couple of new characters in Cressy who works with Bryony and Dan, Jacksons manager and friend. I hope we get to see more of these characters in other books especially Cressy.
Hot, steamy fun from the lovely Jane, oh and I forgot to mention the tandem, beautiful destinations in the South of England (not forgetting Scarborough) the camper van and what you can get up to in a camper van! Check it out for yourself!
I was asked to review this book by Jane. I was very excited as I love Jane's books... As usual I loved this book.
This book is about Bryony who we first met in Jane's other book entitled The Right Side of Mr Wrong - but this is a book that can be read as a stand alone if you haven't yet read the last book - but lets face it why would you miss out on reading one of Jane's books? That is just madness!!
Bryony is a single tv production assistant who has some trust issues - but what woman doesn't.. - and isn't on the market of a serious relationship. She irons her knickers, doesn't partake in sport unless it's for Jimmy choos, doesn't do tandem bike rides and knows what she wants. After her mother offered to freeze her eggs due to Mr Right not being around and her crush on her friend ending up on the side lines when he gets married after a fast paced relationship with someone who sadly isn't Bryony, she is left wondering just when Mr Right will come is at all, and if not where the hell did he wonder off to?
But in cycles Jackson Gale and turns her life up-side-down in the right ways... He is a world class star of cycling and a 'single night' ladies man to boot, and while is out of racing for the time being he is looking for something else to spend his time on, confident and sure of himself...
After catching Jackson in a compromising position behind his car Bryony is instantly attracted to him, the steamy night they shared is meant to be a one off but then Jackson gets to work on TV with his Cherry Bomb aka Bryony...
So off they set on producing Jacksons TV show - With a tandem bike and a troublesome camper van...
As usual Jane's writing is fast paced and a totally awesome chick-lit book - it made me think of a perfect summer read.
For a book to catch my eye, especially in a genre that I wouldn’t normally choose, it has to have a great cover. This was my kind of cover; red, white and blue bunting and a beautiful bicycle, I just had to check it out. As soon as I found out one of the characters was a hot, toned and tanned pro-cyclist (with added lycra) I was in and once in – wow, this book was sexy hot! Meet bad boy Jackson Gale and ice cool Bryony Marshall.
This book is the explosion of emotions that occurs when two slightly screwed up control freaks, used to their successful winning ways always getting them what they wanted, find themselves flailing in unknown territory when their paths collide. However it is so much more than just a hot romance as the author analyses their underlying emotional issues just as well as she describes the raw lust and passion that draws them to each other. There is plenty of humour too.
When they both experience life changing events, they realise things must change and that their tried and tested winning ways aren’t as perfect as they thought after all. But will listening to other people’s points of view really help? I couldn’t put this book down despite their dithering and the ‘will they/won’t they’ moments almost driving me mad.
I now want to read more from Jane Linfoot and luckily for me (and my love of books set in France) her novel ‘How to Win a Guy in Ten Dates’ is partially set in Provence.
This is the second Jane Linfoot book I had the pleasure of reading. Just like the first one (The Right Side Of Mr. Wrong), it was HOT. From the very first page, the heath was on. I was a bit taken aback and I'm not sure I appreciated the full on sex talk right away. Once the story really picked up though, I loved the sexual tension between them. Jane has a brilliant way of describing both sexual longing and the actual 'deed'. Absolutely brilliant. Jackson is a very arrogant and self confident person. Unfortunately, too much confidence is not something I find particularly attractive in a man. But this just shows again how great Jane's writing is, because even though I would have hated a man like that in real life, I felt every bit of Bryony's (sexual!) attraction for him. As for Bryony... She's not my kind of person either. I never really warmed up to her and I'm sad to say I never really 'got' her. At times she was so frustrating it was almost funny, but if I were Jackson, I would have dumped her in the middle of nowhere with her ironing board and Jimmy Choo collection. High Heels and Bicycle Wheels is a great, sexy, HOT read by a wonderful author. WARNING: do not(!) read this in public. Be sure you have some privacy and/or a significant other near you.
I liked this, but I didn't love it. I wanted to love it - I picked it out on Netgalley because I follow cycling and I like a good romance but it just didn't fulfill all it's promise for me. I wasn't quite sure that Bryony's character was developed enough for me to really identify with her - you didn't get enough about her background until quite late on and I found her control freakery difficult to understand without that. Jackson was also a bit of an arrogant old so and so - and quite hard to like for his high handed treatment of Bryony in places.
However, it was steamy, it was sexy and the sex was well written - I didn't get any of those toe-curly stomach turning moments with it.
I can see it's got loads of excellent reviews - so it may just be me - I can see that this would make a good beach read for the summer holidays. I'll keep an eye out for more from Jane Linfoot - but I won't be running out to buy more.
Whoa this book was too slow paced for me. Also both major characters had some major baggage when it comes to relationships. Though I have to give credit to Jackson. Once he realized he loved Bryony he went & sought help for his problems. Bryony on the other hand did the ostrich thing & went into denial & avoidance. She put him through some pretty nasty things & he was about to give up on her.
I liked Jackson as a character better than Bryony. She really is one stuck up woman. She was so caught up in her control drama that she was almost about to give up the love of her life so she could be right. Anyway, they had a happy ending, but I don't really feel as if Bryony deserved it. I don't think I'll be reading more of Linfoot's books. This one wasn't that enjoyable.
A funny, sweet and sexy story of a bad boy trying to reform and a control freak in need of some loosening up. The story is told from both sides (hero and heroine), basically alternating from chapter to chapter, it was very well done. I liked the book, but two things kept me from giving more stars, I had some issues with the female lead (just couldn’t understand the reasons for her behaviour) and the story was dragging a bit towards the end.
What a trite one focused awful book. Is the author so desperately obsessed with one part of the guys anatomy that she has to mention the word groin sooo many times. Anyway binned it.
