I never imagined I'd be working for New York's most powerful billionaire.
Somehow, I landed a job as his assistant.
I’m nothing like the other women he’s used to—innocent, naïve, and definitely not looking for a relationship. I’ve been too busy raising my younger brother to care about anything else.
But there’s something about him I can’t ignore.
He’s cold, ruthless, and untouchable, but when he looks at me... it’s different.
There’s a darkness to him, a hunger. And I’m starting to crave it.
I’ve never been with a man before, but he’s making me question everything. The way he touches me, the way he makes me feel... It’s like he wants to own me in a way no one else ever has.
But trust doesn’t come easy.
And if I give him my heart—and my body—I might lose everything.

The first half of this one was good. I liked how strong and confident Kylie was. She's the guardian to her 12 year old brother, fought for her chance to better herself and landed a job for a jerk alpha A-hole that she easily put in his place. I love that kind of banter and tension but then she became someone ruled by her physical attraction and her sass and smarts abandoned her.
Lincoln definitely lived up to his reputation as a nightmare boss, even after they start their secret affair, it was way too easy for him to separate the Lincoln who wanted Kylie with the Boss-hole who treated her like any other employee. It was hard to reconcile his cold behavior with the slightly less cold Lincoln that was starting to feel real feelings for Kylie.
I think there was definitely potential but it was too rushed. Lincoln didn't have enough time to really convince anyone of his new outlook on love and committed relationships. It also didn't help that Kylie seemed to always put herself second to Lincoln's wants and needs. She would be hurt he rejected her or pushed her away emotionally but then bend to his will because she wanted to make him feel better. It happened too many times and for someone who likes the man to do the chasing and own up to his mistakes and grovel, this one fell short on both counts.
I also found myself wondering a lot about Kylie's missing parents and the life insurance policy they had taken out. This and Lincoln's dysfunctional family I felt just scratched the surface and left me with more questions than answers.
This was a quick and refreshing read for me! After reading so many dark romances back to back, I needed a genre change, and this book delivered exactly what I was looking for. 🙌🏼
Lincoln is the perfect grumpy billionaire MMC, and Kylie is the sweet but fierce FMC who balances him out perfectly. Their dynamic kept me engaged, and the chemistry between them was on point. The writing was smooth, the plot kept me hooked, and the smut? No complaints there!😅
I also loved how the side characters were well-written and blended seamlessly into the story without overpowering it.
I'll be keeping an eye out for more books from Nicole! 💖
Kylie is poor and has been taking care of her little brother since the age of 16. Lincoln is a billionare and a CEO. Kylie becomes his personal assistant, and they fall in love. Nothing really new is being explored, but I'm ok with that.
The writing is simplistic. At times I wished everything was a bit more flushed out-- however, characters are fully developed and the story goes by quick.
It's a great palette refresher between books. however the 'twist' at the end (which I saw a 100 miles away) wasn't fully developed, and I didn't believe it. What kind of guardian doesn't at least meet the therapist of their underage brother??? but whatever, with or without that, this is a solid 3 stars. The sex scenes are plenty, but not overwhelming, and a few of them are VERY well done and hot.
His Temptation at its core is a familiar story of a young woman working as an assistant for a billionaire CEO. However, Nicole Baker has weaved a tale about characters with depth and surprising backgrounds. Lincoln Monroe is the CEO who has gone through four assistants in a month. Kylie Ricci is a 21 year old barista. She has been working two jobs and taking care of her younger brother since she was 16, when her parents disappeared. Kylie overhears a conversation about someone not able to keep an assistant when she suddenly says “hire me”. She doesn’t care about how good looking the billionaire CEO is. The others didn’t need the job, she does. Kylie is hired and starts working the same day. This is a life changing opportunity for her and her brother Benny. She’ll be able to move them to a safer neighborhood, they’ll finally have health insurance and Benny will be able to start Speech Therapy for his stutter. As a former Speech-Language Pathologist, it was great to see Benny’s stutter be accurately represented. When Kylie meets Lincoln, she finds him very attractive, that is until he opens his mouth. “How can someone so good looking be so…rude?” He is tempted by Kylie because she is so different from the others and she hates him. There are great moments when she finds her backbone and talks back to him. Kylie and Lincoln soon find themselves in a heated moment that changes their relationship. Things get steamy in and out of the office but they run into trouble when his family comes into the picture. There are secrets revealed, surprises, and heartbreak on their road to happily ever after. I was left with questions about Kylie’s parents, I wanted more information about the circumstances about how they could just disappear. Kylie and Lincoln’s story had me giggling, swooning and tearing up.
I’d like to thank Nicole Baker and The Author Agency for the privilege of reading an advanced copy of His Temptation.

I absolutely loved this ARC from Nicole Baker. This billionaire romance was everything I needed it to be. Kylie is such a strong FMC taking on the responsibility of being her little brothers guardian after the passing of her parents. She does everything she can to give him a happy stable life. Lincoln is a grumpy billionaire who cannot keep an assistant due to his high expectations. Kylie is up for the challenge if it means a better life for her brother, Benny. She doesn’t take Lincoln’s shit and proves she can get the job done without going after Lincoln’s money or his 🍆 Unfortunately, Lincoln finds out Kylie is his one weakness. He wants to take care of her instead of his normal cold, selfish ways. The plot is amazing and the spice was great! I hope this will be a series. If not, I still will read Nicole’s books in the future. 💕
This is my first book by Nicole Baker and it did not disappoint. I purchased the first three books in this series in the summer of 2025. Shame on me for letting it sit in my TBR for far too long.
Lincoln - 33 CEO of an airline Billionaire Major grump Not close to his parents based on their abusive treatment of him as a child that was struggling with a disability His best friends are his family Hides his past for all even those closest to him Poor track record with assistants as they want his money and family jewels (the ones in his pants). That track record shifts when he’s assigned a new assistant who’s not interested in him at all nor is she afraid to put him in his place
Kylie - 21 Lost parents at 16 Immediately gained guardianship of her younger brother Younger brother has a disability Dropped out of school to get her GED so she can work full time to provide for her brother Her brother is her everything Struggles until she lands a new position (one she fought for and didn’t meet the qualifications for) as Lincoln’s assistant This is a way for her to have medical insurance for her brother and some stability in their lives
These two were oil & water to start, until they weren’t They burned very HOT They struggled with secrets and complicated feelings but end on a Happily Ever After
I really enjoyed reading this book! Who knew that a beautiful young lady with a GED would get a job as an administrative assistant to a snobby and rude billionaire . Lincoln treats all of his secretaries rude intestine because they are all usually after his money so he fires them. Finally, he finds one Kylie, who isn’t after his money. But she is tired of his rude and nasty behavior torture. She doesn’t care about his money. All she cares about is getting ahead in life for herself and her brother. I loved reading how they eventually fall in love! Even after everything that goes on at work and between them. Such a must read.
This book was just plain old boring. I tried making myself even care a little bit about these two characters but ,no! I skimmed though most of the book and my advice is for anyone not to waste their time with this awful boring book. Shirley
🔥Billionaire Romance 🔥Virgin Heroine 🔥Enemies to Lovers 🔥Office Romance 🔥Age Gap 🔥Grumpy/Sunshine Romance 🔥Forced Proximity 🔥Boss/Employee Romance
This book was FIRE!! 🔥 I loved everything about it. I finished it in a day! I absolutely loved the strong and witty FMC, Kylie. Lincoln, the MMC, is a grumpy billionaire who meets his match! This was my first book by Nicole Baker and it certainly won’t be the last. I’m looking forward to reading more of her books! His Temptation is out now! Add this to your TBR!
4.5 ⭐️ 📕: His Temptation by Nicole Baker Why you’ll love this book!! Billionaire Romance Virgin Heroine Enemies to Lovers Office Romance Age Gap Grumpy/Sunshine Romance Forced Proximity Boss/Employee Romance
This is my first book to read of Nicole Baker’s and I fell in love with her writing and the characters!! I am a sucker for grumpy billionaires and age gap romances and this book did not let me down at all!! I was hooked from the beginning with Lincoln and Kylie’s story ..The banter was amazing lol I am also a sucker for good banter and this book has that!!
The H was something else, the author went past grumpy and into asshole territory. Like he was like I’m hot shit and I don’t wipe my own ass so I’m going to get my assistant to cross the city by herself to bring me my laptop while I’m out drinking with my friends and OW.
3.25⭐️ Kylie Ricci is a 21 year old who has been the guardian for her 12 year old brother, Benny, for the past 5 years. She's had to maintain multiple jobs and take night classes over the years in order to finish school and to provide for them...and it has been a struggle!!
One morning, while working her job as a barista, Kylie overhears her customer venting about needing to find yet another personal assistant for the handsome, billionaire CEO. Apparently, he fires everyone she hires, with the latest one being fired the exact day she started. In a rare moment of courage, Kylie suggests the woman hire her. The next thing she knows, she has a new job that pays her more than she could've imagined and provides benefits.
Mr. Monroe (Lincoln) is pompous, arrogant, entitled, rude, and belittling. He is demanding, condescending, and allows no room for errors. He's sick and tired of all of these striking, confident assistants throwing themselves at him - desperate for a life of riches. So when Kylie comes along and looks at him with hatred and disdain and calls him out, he is not prepared. She challenges him, and hates him.....and he can't get enough.
The chemistry in this book is strong! I LOVE the bickering and building frustration that slowly turns to interest and desire. It is so good!! She talks back and gives him attitude while he pretends to hate it, corrects it, and is secretly turned on by it, and you will be eating it up!!
Kylie is resilient, selfless, and strong. Her work ethic and self-sufficiency are unmatched. Having to grow up too soon, she is a bit naive and inexperienced and lacks a bit of confidence. This creates a sweetness and softness to her.
Lincoln has a tough exterior, but WOW! Watching his layers get pulled back and seeing him soften for Kylie and be playful was the sweetest thing......but also spicy. This man falls hard, and he is addicted and possessive!! Lincoln carries a lot of pain and hurt from his past, and he does everything he can to hide his past.
I was able to guess a couple of plot details/twists pretty easily, but I still enjoyed how they were revealed.
There were some moments that I didn't quite buy in the story, and the reasoning for Kylie having guardianship of her brother....while it worked and was a valid reason.....it just.....idk, I wanted more.
Overall, it's a good read. I can definitely see it being a favorite for some.
Read if you like: - age gap (12 years) - inexperienced FMC - workplace romance - billionaire romance - grumpy/sunshine - enemies to lovers - boss/employee romance - spicy/ dirty talk
currently reading at 39%. so this is okay so far it's just not amazing. one thing I never understand especially about this book is she has this job as a coffee Barista and she gets this job as a assistant to the MMC who's rich and she makes $100,000 a year which is less than normal but good for her experience and she is there for Less Than 2 months at this point and throughout this scenario they talk about how many assistance he fires right but more than once she's talked about how she wants to look for a better apartment because the one she lives in in Harlem is not in the best neighborhood but her neighbor watches her brother while she's at work so why would she move not to mention again the dude fires all his assistants so what is she going to do move and then have to move back??
also there's a random storyline in here where your brother now has a stutter since her parents went missing. he finally gets into a therapist I'm a therapist is doing pretty good but she is pregnant and goes on maternity leave like a month after starting the session and they have someone come in the name scott. well FMC meets him one day after the appointment and it just so happens to be the MMC using his middle name to be Ben in the FMC Brothers therapist

4.5 | 1 - This was great, solid easy read, well written, another one were the MC are both acting like actual adults. Really like them both in their own way and together. Only wish they would have had deeper conversations while getting to know each other especially considering both their backgrounds/childhoods and the epilogue could have been longer. Drama was fun but maybe too easily resolved 🤷🏼♀️ but guess that’s what happens between actual adults 😆 Overall loved this will definitely be continuing with the series.
This book was a fun, easy read—just what I needed. It was fairly predictable, but in a comforting way. I almost treated it like a palate cleanser because I knew exactly what I was getting going in, and sometimes that’s perfect after reading a few disappointing books.
I dont know if I can recommend His Temptation by Nicole Baker enough to Billionaire/Office Romance Trope lovers! Billionaire/Office Romances have always been one of my favorite tropes, and I am so glad I picked up this book to find out more because it quickly became a book I didn't want to put down. Nicole Baker pulled me in within a few chapters and I had my own F*it moments along with the main characters, although mine were less sexy and of the F*it I won't be getting sleep tonight because I need to know if the Enemies become lovers soon 😅.
Kylie, our FMC, has struggled for years due to her parents' absence and her caring for her younger brother even though life didn't give her any breaks. She is strong, resilient, hardworking, outspoken, untouched, and everything Lincoln didn't realize he needed.
Lincoln, our MMC, is the grumpy, dominant, possessive, arrogant, and broody billionaire boss we all know and love, but he has another side to him he doesn't always show. He can also be charming, charismatic, soft, and romantic, but he is guarded by his past wounds.
These characters lit up the pages with their banter and their their interactions together. I loved that Kylie would stand her ground and call Lincoln out even though she had everything to lose. There was so much chemistry flying off the pages between these two, and I was here for all of it. I loved the push and pull alongside the tension Baker built between the characters because it was perfectly written into where I became so invested in these charcaters and needing to know which direction they were heading. These two made me chuckle and full-blown laugh out loud throughout this one but also made me feel for them on another level with their struggle and past wounds they were trying to overcome. This story gives you well developed/full characters, amazing banter, undeniable chemistry, built-up tension, lots of spicy moments, but we're tastefully written, and a story that pieced together so perfectly.
This was a fun read! The FMC's POV was difficult to get into at first; her thoughts felt disjointed, and there was really no character-building at the start. Baker just threw us right into the promised plot! The MMC was entertaining, a classic edgy but heart-of-gold billionaire.
What I liked: - The consistent Dual POV created a really nice pacing. We got to see the stage set for future MMCs in the Empire State of Love series, too. - Benny and his sister's relationship! The FMC was so tough, and her devotion to proper healthcare for her brother was super compelling and pretty realistic, even if the circumstances of her hiring were obviously fairytale. - The spice! It was good spice. 4/5 🌶️ with nice dialogue and good back and forth. Some tender moments too.
What I didn't like: - The 3rd act breakup was SO forced. Just a touch of patience and communication would've solved the whole dang thing. I wish the catalyst had been more about her status as his employee (an HR/optics issue) than a (so brief) OW spat. - I really wanted her to go back to school at the end!
His Temptation is my first introduction to author Nicole Baker, and I can say with confidence that it won’t be my last. As this story grips you from the outset and keeps you turning the pages long into the night.
As at just twenty-one, Kylie has taken on the demanding role of guardian for her younger brother, Ben, working relentlessly to support him despite their financial struggles. But her fortunes shift dramatically when she overhears a conversation about a personal assistant position for Lincoln Monroe, the billionaire CEO of Nova Sky Airlines. And with her determination and unique perspective—she’s not interested in sleeping with the boss—Kylie successfully lands the job, even without prior experience.
Yet, working for Lincoln Monroe is anything but simple. He’s demanding, grumpy, and often rude, but there’s no denying he’s incredibly attractive. Only his challenging demeanour heightens the tension between them.
But as they spend more time together, Lincoln starts to see Kylie’s capabilities, and undeniable chemistry sparks to life. However, Kylie is determined to maintain her professionalism and is uncertain about Lincoln's true feelings.
However, the dynamics shift during a weekend work trip to Los Angeles. But when Lincoln learns she's a virgin he insists that. he won’t sleep with her, but as emotions intensify, he alters his stance.
And with spicy moments, relatable characters, trust issues and just the right amount of emotion, this book is not just entertaining; it’s a must-read that I would confidently recommend to all.
My thanks to The Author Agency and Nicole Baker for the opportunity to read an early copy of His Temptation. All thoughts expressed are my own. ☺️
Very surface level story - I felt like it wasn't well developed and some things didn't really make sense (ie what happened to her parents, why was he so weird about her finding out about his childhood, she kept worrying he would fire her but still slept with him?). Both main characters reacted to situations in an immature way that sometimes made no sense. The dialogue was lacking as was any real character development.
I’m a sucker for a good office romance, throw in some enemies to lovers on top of that and you’ve got a spicy read!!
I absolutely loved Lincoln and Kylie. It did take them a while to come together and trust one another though. Lincoln was so jaded when it came to love and relationships. People always wanted him for his money and what he could give them, especially women. So when he first met Kylie, he had already put her in the same category as his other P.A.’s. Someone who just wanted his money and title. Kylie on the other hand was so kind and caring. When she took the job as Lincoln’s PA, she was only interested in doing her job and making enough money so she could take care of her brother, whom she had taken care since she was 16.
There was a lot push and pull between them, but once they came together, they were absolute fire. And I loved how Lincoln surprised me towards the end. He was so much more than he seemed to be in the beginning.
I cannot recommend this book enough!! It was wonderfully written!
Every cringy trope possible. MMC falls in love with the FMC because she is the only woman in New York who doesn't want to bang him (until she does). The leads both end up word vomming over-analyzed explanations for why they are the way they are because the author doesn't know how to weave it into the story. Add to that a simple misunderstanding leading to a breakup before they get back together and forgive each other with no real work done and an annoying "surprise" twist at the end, I only finished this book to leave this review.
I think this author has a lot of potential, but they should work with an editor who gives them more constructive feedback.
