Simon Jones has killed Tyrus Jurgen. And now he must pay. Lisandra Jurgen is coming to Mira to find her brother's killer. And she won't quit until Simon is in chains. But can she survive the legendary beasts of Mira? She's not worried about that. She's tougher and more deadly than her brother ever was. Rumors say that Simon Jones is a shadowy Miran who communes with the savage green people of the forests. The only real challenge is finding him. For that, she'll need a guide. Perhaps one of Mira's mountain men. This fellow, Tiberius Bogg, for example. What will Bogg do? How will Simon survive?

If you liked the Book, The Princess Bride, you’ll like this series. The characters are unique and compelling in an intriguing world full of exotic creatures and life or death situations. Adventure abounds here. I wish I had these books back when I was reading to my kids.
This sequel to the new world is very well written. Full of excitement, fantastic characters, and is not predictable, hair of the bear delivers. Ready to read book 3.
I tore through Hair of the Bear along with the first book in the series, New World, in about three days all together. Exciting, scary, funny, fast-moving (and even emotional and thought-provoking) adventures through the frontier of Fantasyland's New World in the company of the inimitable Tiberius Bogg. Wonderful reading for anyone who wants a taste of the frontier in their fantasy. I would particularly recommend them for teen boys, junior high age and up, who enjoy fantasy and adventure. As the mom of two former teenage boys, I know it can be hard to find books for them, and the New World books fit the bill splendidly.
I purchased this sequel after receiving New World as my monthly Prime offering. I believe I read it even faster than the first novel (and I'm a pretty fast reader). I'm hoping I won't have to leave Simon, Bogg, or even Lis yet -- and that Steve White is hard at work on the third novel of this series. The creatures are imaginative. I enjoy trying to picture how they look, move and sound. The wild man seems an unusual manifestation of a deity (if that's what he is). The storytelling has a backwoods flavor that reminds me of a yarn spun by Dan'l Boone.
