Claimed by the Elven Brothers: Decision

Rate this book
It started with a dream—a dream of two pine trees with a dead branch fallen between them along the jogging path she often frequented, but when Megan Reyes is driven to seek out the place in reality to rid herself of what was quickly becoming an obsession, instead of the big fat nothing she expects to find, she discovers more than she bargained for when she steps between the pines and is confronted by a very familiar pointy-eared man she last saw in her dreams.

He and his brother have been waiting for her, and what they want will test how far she is willing to go to escape the monotony of her everyday life just for the chance to spice things up.

This novella contains ménage sex and is not intended for readers under eighteen. It is the first in a two-part story arc and is about 22,100 words in length.

I live in West-Central Texas with my crazy cat and about a dozen bookcases full of fantasy worlds and steamy romances. I also have a degree in Computer Science which totally qualifies me to write romances. Fantasy is my first love, and if I can inject a little love into the fantastical, along with a few steamy scenes, then all the better.

2.5 stars rounded up for both books, as this one is more of a prologue than a story.
The only reason I read this was because I liked her other Elven book series, 'cause these sorts of plots I usually avoid... love triangles, multiple wives, and menage (yeah menage sex, most of the time it's just so much blah blah blah).
BUT, this wasn't really a love triangle, the menage wasn't really menage, and well... but yes there is another wife.
In book one Megan meets two Elven brothers; Locien and Seren.
The book is pretty much just that but with a mysterious unknown Elf messing with her mind a bit. Both Lucien and Seren want children but can only have one human bride so they decide to share.
A wee bit of sexy times near the end . I wasn't wowed but I was intrigued enough to get the second book too.
In book 2 we meet Locien's Elven wife; Hildie, who is a nice person. No evil Elvin wives in this one.
The book starts where the last left off, but then does a big leap 50 years into the future. There is a villain but it's not an 'action/suspense' story. Everything is tied up SUPER neatly by the end and I felt kinda let down. I would have liked more showing and less telling. I would have liked more time with the MCs interacting. There is VERY little time with Hildie. It was like alls well, ends well. Not much romance or even much erotica. It's too bad really as I liked Seren's character, (not so much Locien, who was kinda a selfish prick). Megan was kinda flat and annoyingly submissive. The gal had no gumption and the romance was pretty thin.
So overall 'Meh'. A quick easy cheap read if you have kindle unlimited.
This was actually my last unlimited buy as I've decided it isn't worth it. I've downloaded lots but most of it I've returned unread...

Claimed by the Elven Brothers: Decision is a light novella that feels more like a prologue than a full story when compared to its sequel, Fate which is set 50 years later, but it introduces an intriguing premise that may appeal to fans of low-stakes fantasy romance. The plot centers on Megan, a human woman suddenly drawn into the world of Elven politics and ancient customs when she meets two Elven brothers, Locien and Seren who both want her as their bride.

The dynamic between the brothers is one of the story’s stronger elements. Seren comes across as the gentler, more emotionally attuned of the two, while Locien feels possessive, bordering on selfish at times. There’s clear potential for interesting tension between them, but the story only scratches the surface. As for Megan, she’s written as quiet and submissive, and while that may appeal to some readers, I found myself wishing for more agency or inner conflict from her, especially given the life-altering decision she's being asked to make.

Romantically, the story teases more than it delivers. The sensual elements are present but restrained, more about suggestion than intimacy. There’s also a touch of mystery, with a third, unseen Elf influencing Megan's thoughts in ways that aren’t fully explained, adding an eerie undercurrent that gives the story a bit more texture.

That said, the novella leans heavily on exposition, with the story favoring telling over immersive scenes. Emotional beats are often told rather than felt, which makes the story feel a bit rushed despite its slow pace. Still, for a quick, accessible read with a unique setup and a hint of otherworldly intrigue, it may satisfy readers looking for a fantasy romance that doesn’t demand too much investment.

Just don’t go in expecting a complete arc, this is very much a story that feels like it’s just setting up for its sequel, Fate.

Intriguing

The dilemma of wives and human wives is an interesting scenario. The characters are engaging and you find yourself dying to know how it will all work out.
