A Maltese adventure

I wasn’t sure at first what exactly Georgina and Aunt Beanie were meant to do in Malta. In each of the other adventures/assignments that Georgina has been on there’s been a clear objective, this seemed more like a vacation disguised as a business trip. After the first inspection and the shady characters that appear I got a good inclination and with Aunt Beanie along it made for a most enjoyable adventure and a wonderful dive into the Maltese culture. I never would have guessed the way this one ended, very surprised and yet when I think about it makes total if illogical sense. When you read through you’ll get it. There’s a bit of sadness in how things turned out yet obsession often ends that way. I enjoyed this trip and oh my a treasure map at the end I can’t wait to see where that leads or if Georgina will travel somewhere completely different. Either way I’m sure it will be as exciting as this story was!

The Treasured Journey series combines antiques, mystery and exotic locals. This time, the armchair detective gets to travel with Georgina to Malta. When an old friend of Bernadette organizes an exhibit of Maltese historical items, he asks her and Georgina to help out. But their vacation in Malta turns from antiques expertise to dealing with theft and murder. As usual for the author, the clues are well placed and the new characters for the mystery are interesting. But Tait also includes a lot of colorful descriptions and well researched background. Tait has mastered the destination cozy mystery genre in this spinoff from her earlier Dotty Sayers Mysteries.

An unexpected invitation to Malta offers Georgina and Aunt Beanie a respite from the winter doldrums. Nicholas Galea asks them to be observers at his exhibition of Maltese treasures and history. Georgina is convinced that a supposed replica is the real deal but is brushed off by everyone. During Nicholas’s speech, she sees suspicious activity near the artifact and follows the perpetrator, who disappears without a trace. When the man is later found dead, Georgina and Aunt Beanie team up with Jac, Nicholas’s police officer daughter, to solve the mysteries of the artifact and the murder. When faced with threats, will they back down?

Victoria Tait’s Treasured Journey books are a fascinating combination of travelogue and cozy mystery. The reader is immersed in the sights, sounds, tastes, culture, and history of each destination as well as unraveling clues along with Georgina. The descriptions are so well written that you feel as if you are exploring the city with the characters. Besides the association with the Knights Templar, I knew very little about Malta prior to reading this. I learned quite a bit about the significance of this tiny island, especially during the war. The modern day conflict between preserving the history and building the future adds to the stakes in this story, with both viewpoints interfering in the case. Aunt Beanie is a delight as always, and you’ll be cheering for her resourcefulness. Jac was a standout character as well especially in contrast to her family. I’m thrilled to see that she’ll be returning for another adventure with Georgina.

Museum mysteries and murder
To escape dreary British winter weather antiquarian Georgina Carey and her aunt Beanie accept an invitation to Malta to help keep an eye on a new exhibit of Maltese historical treasures. Following their arrival they go to the museum and meet with Bernadette's old friend Nicholas Galea. He informs them that their expertise with antiques, as well as their criminal stopping abilities prompted his invitation. At the opening gala a couple days later Georgina notice suspicious actions by a visitor but when she follows him he disappears. When he is found shot and a priceless antique is missing it will take all of their observational and deductive skills to solve the two mysteries. A very good mystery in an exotic location. The author's descriptions of people, places and foods make you feel you are there helping investigate. Enough breadcrumbs are left for you to come to conclusions similar to those of our crime solvers. An all around excellant read.

Georgina is between jobs when one of Aunt Beanie's old friends offers them a position as extra security for an event he's sponsoring in Malta. She almost immediately discovers a discrepancy in one of the artifacts, and then it is stolen, and the thief is found dead. Of course, she and Aunt Beanie dive right into solving the mystery.
Malta's history is really interesting, especially the WWII period, and all the underground tunnels.
I really liked the character of Jac, the young policewoman.
I had said that I probably wouldn't read anymore of this series because I really don't care for Georgina's character. But I LOVE Aunt Beanie, heck I wish I HAD an Aunt Beanie! She makes everything so much fun! And of course I want to know what happens with her and Norman and the farm. I didn't find Georgina so gratingly obnoxious in this book, and I am definitely looking forward to the next one!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Georgina Carey and Aunt Beanie are invited by Nicholas Galea to Malta . There to appraise ancient artefacts in an exhibition ,all of a sudden it’s become a mission . Has a supposed replica been replaced by the real deal? To what purpose ? Before they find the truth there’s more evidence to sleuth. A rich tapestry that does more to attract than just art. It’s worlds apart. But just when things are so good on those Maltese streets there’s a murder to shatter the peace…Oh dear Ms Carey, best be wary of all around you . Don’t let the scenery that astounds you confound you. There’s evil lurking nearby and it’s worth looking into everyone’s alibi. … Brilliant storyline and executed divinely . This story is so immersing and unique, even when there’s been a murder …eek! Wonderfully written as per by Victoria Tait ,she really is great at this genre . I hadn’t a clue as per either so Ms Tait good on ya !

In this story, Georgina and her Aunt Beanie travel to Malta and become part of an investigation to find a stolen shield boss that had belonged to a Grand Master of the Knights of St. John (Templars).
The path to finding out what happened to it and to the person who stole it was a bit convoluted and there were some sections I had to read thru twice to fully understand what was being said. I felt that there was quite a lot of detail in this book that probably wasn't strictly necessary and maybe that the flow of the book got a little off track at times due to all of said detail.
I don't think this was a bad book. Just a little confusing at times and a little more detail than I cared for.
Hence the four stars. Otherwise it was a very good story and mystery.

Mayhem and Malice in Malta(A Treasured Journey Mystery Book 3) by Victoria Tait is part of series that just keeps geeing better and better. It is like taking a vacation along with the female sleuth without having to leave your comfortable reading chair. This time it is off to a Mediterranean island where the warm climate and bright days seems to make a death impossible but one does happen. The Baroque cathedral changes the climate of the story, making this an atmospheric haunting read. Add in antique expert Georgina’s missing aunt you have a compelling read.

No in-your-face violence, bad language or sex, instead an intriguing plot, an exceptional location, engaging characters and a mystery or two to be solved. This is my kind of book. I bet I will be yours too.

I really enjoyed Malice and Mayhem in Malta. I like the characters in this series, but for me it’s the settings that really stand out.
The author does such a great job bringing Malta to life. The sights, atmosphere, and little details made me feel like I was right there alongside Georgina.
The mystery itself kept me turning pages, and while it’s a lighter, cozy read, there’s still enough twists and intrigue to stay engaging.
I'm looking forward to the next book, and learning more about Jac.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Georgina's sharp eye and attention to detail was called into play when a valuable artifact went missing, and the possible thief ended up dead.

I enjoyed the colourful setting of Malta and the new allies and friends that Georgina and Aunty Beanie made in this new mystery. Great fun reading and love the detailed descriptions of the places that were part of the mystery. Note to self: Must make sure I visit these places when I get myself out there!!

Fascinating book

Another fascinating book with Georgina and Aunt Beanie visiting Malta to help an old friend of Aunt Beanie's.  I love how the history of Malta is intertwined with the story of their visit to the island and the auction they are attending.  The twist in the story is totally unexpected and clever.  I highly recommend this book.

Stealing history!

Georgina Carey and Aunt Beanie are invited to Malta to assist Beanie’s friend Nicholas with an exhibition of Maltese historical treasures at the Grand Master’s Palace in Valetta. They are soon embroiled in intrigue, thefts, and danger.

The mystery is excellent. I learned so much about Malta’s history in this book. It is amazing.

This cozy mystery takes Georgina and Aunt Beanie to Malta, where a valuable historic artefact is stolen during an event they are supervising. The familiar, likeable characters make this an easy and enjoyable read. I especially loved the Maltese setting and the background details woven into the story, continuing the series’ tradition of exploring a new country each time. Oh, I just want to go where Georgina goes!

Do you want to learn about the small country of Malta?
Then this is the cosy mystery book for you.
The author gives us lots of history about this country and winds it together in a theft.
She has Georgina and her aunt visiting the country and while they are helping protect an historical item for a friend, they are also tourists.
We are taken on many of their travels, eating at unique restaurants as well as immersing ourself in the mystery of an article of history.
Good read!

I absolutely love the places Georgina is getting to travel to as well as seeing her evolve. I really enjoyed the adventure we went on including the people we meet as well as the clues along with having Aunt Beanie also working along side her which was wonderful and I really hope throughout this series she will get to work with her again and maybe some of the others.

Georgina's keen eye catches something others miss, and when she sounds the alarm, she opens a hornet's nest of intrigue. I wish this series were adapted for television because of the beautiful locations and interesting locals. Georgina and her aunt certainly got their daily steps in as they toured the area. This is an enjoyable cozy that can be read as a standalone.

Engaging adventure

Georgina is off once again, this time to Malta for a seemingly innocuous reason. True to form, though, she ends up right in the middle of a murder. Very satisfying read.

A fantastic description of Malta

Another intriguing mystery in the world of antiques but what stood out most was the glimpse into Maltese history and the descriptions of Valletta.
