One kiss between childhood friends Evan and Bellerose ruined everything. After five years apart a wedding, an urban legend and a dozen cookies drag the pair back together, things get complicated.
Is a weekend and a twenty-four hour mandatory cooldown enough to undo years of pent up anger, embarrassment and regret?
Evan and Bellerose are childhood friends who have always crushed on the other. At Bellerose's graduation party they share their first kiss, and Evan runs away afterward, breaking Bellerose's heart. The strong feelings they share hold true; however, Bellerose is angry at Evan for his actions; and Evan is embarrassed for the way he ran away. So, they both allow the distance to linger.
Fast forward five years, they both are in attendance for wedding duties and are forced to be in each other's presence again. Evan is determined to get his girl. Conversations are had with feelings explained, and time spent together brought them right back like they never left. Evan got his Rosie. Would love to see what happens with them in the future. Cute read.
Evan, oh Evan, my Evan! That’s it.. that’s the review!
I swear half of my highlights are things he said. I loved this novella. The long term mutual pining and fate stepping in to force the time was perfection!
This was the cutest holiday read ever and I loved it from beginning to end… Come on Evan go get your girl… I love the chemistry between Rosie and Evan it was everything and gave me all the feels I would love to read more about them as they love grows
There’s something really special about a love that has to grow up before it can come back around. This story reminded me that timing matters just as much as feelings.
That one kiss a teenagers. The way it fractured everything felt so real awkward, painful, unfinished. Five years of distance, resentment and unresolved emotions don’t just disappear because people reunite at a wedding with cookies and nostalgia in the air. I loved that the tension lingered and that the hurt had weight.
Orville absolutely stood on business as a big brother. He wasn’t trying to control Bellerose; he was protecting her identity. He wanted her to be more than someone’s girlfriend, more than a twin, more than “little sister.” Just her.
Evan and Bellerose needed that time apart. Evan's fear of messing up the vibe was so understandable. It's just how he handled the moment that started their downfall. He shattered her heart 💔 The anger, the embarrassment, the regret it all made the second chance feel earned instead of rushed.
This was soft and reassuring in the way only a good second chance romance can be. Cute, warm and rooted in growth exactly what this series is doing so well.

When I tell you this book was too cute... Evan and Bellerose we're too cute together. Third the fact that this was basically a second chance love it. I liked it literally from start to finish I have no critiques on this and I never really do with ml bash's work. This was just heart warming and melty and the fact that she was like it's the d*** cookie I need 24 hours to make sure you still love me... Maybe the spice the 2 things we got with the spies left me high and bothered this book was so sweet but it was just also wu 5 alarm fire when necessary.... Evan said I've been gone I made a mistake and now I'm about to fix it and get my girl. Literally I loved everything about this book I have no complaints. You're looking for a short cute sweet book to read this is the book for you. These 2 will definitely have your heart and have you with It's in your eyes.
This is a cute young adult turned second chance if you will love story. Evan and Bell Rose have been friends all their lives as their parents have been friends all of their lives and grew up together. I think it’s the sweetest thing when your childhood crush turns into your forever. I love the fact that neither one of them were waiting for the other person, but literally leave it living their lives All wow in the background their best friends being their best friends are their siblings. Know what it actually is before they actually admit it to one another, even after all of these years. It was really sweet that they were able to rekindle and even open up with what had been happening in the last five years apart and being comfortable enough to be themselves.
After years of unnecessary heartbreak and a crush that never dissipated Evan & Bellerose reunite for their siblings’ wedding.
Bellerose is Delphine’s twin sister. Delphine is marrying her high school sweetheart Drake, who happens to be Evan’s little brother. With a wedding weekend to conquer, Evan is set to make Bellerose his once and for all. With a magical cookie recipe, Bellerose decides to spread the love with the magical cookies at the Bachelor-Bachelorette party. Will the magic bring them together or will the spell wear off?
Tropes: Childhood crush First heartbreak Close proximity
How cute was this story ?! Me w e ML go together real bad. Rosie jne she was still feeling butterflies for Evan! As much as she tried to fight it, those feelings stuck with her for five years, and those cookies were almost like opening the flood gate lol they definitely had a word vomit lol 😆 but it was the cutest thing ever. Love when both of the characters have the same amount of down bed for each other lol. Another good read! And just the right amount to hold me over until the next book.💕💕
Sometimes people need to grow separately in order to thrive together in the future. That is the story of Evan & Bellerose to me. They could’ve had one another when they were younger but the wait made them stronger. They can say they’ve experienced life & other people, have stability, & set boundaries & reasonable expectations. It also helps that you have a nontoxic environment being childhood friends as a good foundation. I love that he wasn’t pushy & she was open. They just worked together! I love this quick read!
Hmmm 🤔…what’s the purpose of the board generalization while presenting the family dynamics as related to Bellerose & Evan. Furthermore, why summarize five hundred plus days of the couple who’s validity is/was being scrutinized 🤷🏾♀️⁉️...As individuals, both Evan & Bellerose were excellent in support & fulfillment to their obligations as best man & maid of honor. However, their cat & mouse charades was juvenile & a bore 🥱! Unfortunately, I’m disappointed with “Evan & Bellerose (Recipe For Love - Book 2) story.
I LOVE AND GOOD FRIENDS TO LOVERS LOVE STORY, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CAN FEEL THE CHEMISTRY THROUGH THE PAGES.
I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT EVAN AND ROSIE'S JOURNEY TO LOVE. TWO FRIENDS WHO HAD BEEN CRAZY ABOUT EACH OTHER SINCE THEY WERE TEENAGERS BUT WERE TOO AFRAID TO ADMIT IT OUT LOUD. ONE MISUNDERSTANDING HAD THEM AVOIDING EACH OTHER FOR 5 YEARS. THEN DUE TO HER SISTER AND HIS BEST FRIEND WEDDING THEY WERE FORCED TO REVISIT THEIR LAST ENCOUNTER AND ADMIT ALL OLD AND NEW FEELINGS. ALTHOUGH IT WAS SHORT IT READ LIKE A FULL NOVEL.
This standalone is lit. It's a quote that always said if u didn't think it would be right the first time, try again later on down the line. It taken for them to grow up and now their still in love. U did good on yet another book and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read
Oomph, my heart! This story was adorable, sweet, and steamy! I have several stories by the author, ML Bash, on my to-be-read (TBR) list, but this is my first time reading one of her works, and now I'm absolutely hooked! The chemistry between Bellerose and Evan was intense in both sweet and sultry ways. I really enjoyed this story and would love to read a full-length book about these two characters!
Super cute and quick stories. Bellerose and Evan have known each other almost their whole lives. She has been in love with him since she was a teenager, not knowing he loved her as well.
Now ten years later and her twin sister is better married and Evan is the best man.
They are both grown and able to express themselves truthfully
It was an okay read. I enjoy a second chance at love story. I’m glad these two were able to talk it out and give love a chance. Bellerose did get on my nerves a bit tho. I hated the twins name bc why would you choose these names?!?
Overall am okay read, if you enjoy second chances at love and friends to lovers stories you will enjoy this.
This is a second chance, childhood friends to lovers, forced proximity book.
The way this plays out, our girl Bellerose has been in love with Evan for years. His feelings are mutual but due to their lil age gap he stays clear of her until she matures into an adult (Very Mindful). Then he shoots his shot... only to reject her immediately after.
I about cracked my neck from the whip lash I received. Then we have a time jump where they are the Best Man and Maid of Honor for a wedding and can't avoid one another. What follows is him groveling and pursuing her shamelessly. I was here for it.
Now, you have to understand the author has two pen names. ML Bash who gives us the sexy, spicy, dangerous stories and Kizzy Kollins who gives us her sweet, fade to black/low spice, Hallmark worthy love stories. I'm telling you this because I had to double check who TF the author was.
I was so invested in this story that it took me until more than halfway through it to realize the heat had not dropped yet.
But trust once the spice hit, it was plentiful and satisfying. Highly Recommend.
Aww, this was cute as well. I love second chance romances. Rosie and Evan were too cute together.
I'm glad they had time to grow up and become their own person. It's rare that high school romances make it, so this was a great ending to their beginning.
Another one for the books!! I love second chance romances and it’s even better when it’s with your original first loves! That’s what we have here with Bellerose and Evan! If you haven’t already read this, grab your copy today and indulge!! I thoroughly enjoyed it and know you will, as well!! Kudos, ML Bash (Mia)!! 💜
I love a great second chance romance and this definitely delivered! Bellerose and Evan were so cute! I loved the pending tension between them and how Belle thought all things magical were the reason for his love for her. This was so good. I loved it!
This was a sweet and cute friends to lovers second chance romance. I would have kinda loved it if it turned out that the cookies were why Evan couldn’t help expressing his true feelings but this was still fun, quick, and well written.
Evan & Bellarosa!!! These two grew up together. She's younger by two years. When she's 18 they share a moment and then Evan runs. Years later these reconnect at a family event. Evan wants a chance to love Bellarosa.
This was a cute second chance romance mixed. Evan and his Rosie got their second chance after a much needed conversation about the past. I liked them together and would have liked more, but this was still an enjoyable Valentine’s Day novella.
I loved everything about Evan and Rosie’s love story. That man said he was coming for what was his, and that was Rosie! When he said “I wanna be your husband”, whew chile! I melted! I’m currently adding Miss Mattie’s chocolate chip cookies to my recipe list! 🍪🤎
It's February, right, so it's the month of romance and love, and this book is just so sweet. Both Evan and Bellerose were liked, and I was rooting for them in such a sweet way.
While I don’t need ganster/thug romance, this book lacked any sense of Black ethnicity. If the physical descriptions hadn’t been provided, I would have thought this was not a Black romance.
