I have never read this authors paranormal ya books till after I read her na books. I have to say that this author has the great ability to write in just about any genre. She has the ability to capture her audience and hold them captive from cover to cover and never let them go then they are salivating for the next book in either the series or grabbing and starting another series. Her characters all seem to be well thought out and fully developed the reader can't help but fall in love with them and getting vested in the storyline. I never realized how many books that she had out and such a wide variety to hit upon each person's taste. Her covers are so amazing and wonderful myself that is what first captures me, blurbs are not something that hits me first. I love how the author is able to add and solve love triangles making them so interesting. I love a fast paced and extremely self absorbed read and highly recommend this for readers of all ages. I can't wait to read more books in this series and definitely more from this author. I also love how the first book of her series is free so it enables new readers to try her work and get addicted.
Skyla - Gage - Logan... Love triangles are FUN! The first two books in the series get to know Skyla - this LA Transport and the hunky boys of Paragon. Cheese-tastic, yes, but completely worth it. The twists, turns and fun in this series will keep you turning the pages.
A different twist on your paranormal romance - I personally love it. Angels, teen angst, crazy ass siblings (and parents) , so worth the read!
Celestra is a series of young adult novels about the life of 16-year old Skyla Messenger. Skyla’s life suddenly changes when she moves to a small island town. When she falls for two irresistible boys who also happen to be cousins, things get really interesting.
In this series, the author leaves mysteries that need to be explored throughout each book. There is a genuine appeal and novelty to the myth in the series that finds ways to distinguish itself from other series in a similar vein.
I found the mythology behind this paranormal book to be very interesting and intriguing. The underlying idea is that there are different factions of angels that have different abilities. The concept is that there is a certain faction that cannot be allowed to be together because they will produce strong offspring and will throw off the order and balance of things. This is quite different from most of the angel mythology and other books based on angels. The human aspect has probably intrigued me the most throughout the series.
The characters are really what keeps the story moving and interesting. The series starts off by establishing vivid characters, and snappy descriptions that keeps the readers attention and makes the series a page turner. The tragedy Skyla dealt with left her defiant and sarcastic in ways to cope with her unhappiness, but Skyla didn't strike me as your typical teenage girl. Instead, she shared her frustration and respect throughout the books towards various situations. Throughout the series she has multiple men throwing themselves at her. So who will she choose .... Gage, Logan, or Marshall?
Gage: I have to say I have been a Gage fan since book one! At first their relationship is fake to make everyone believe she is no longer with Logan, but as the story goes, she starts to fall for Gage ... harder and harder. Throughout the series, you see many different stages of Gage, from him blowing Skyla off to talking with her worst enemy, Chloe. After reading the series, I wasn't as much of a Gage fan as I was in the beginning.
Logan: In the beginning, Logan is somewhat selfish and striked me as the person who would never fully grasp putting anyone else first before him. As you read the books and learn more about Logan's history, it makes sense as to why he seemed like that in the beginning. By the end of the series, I was 50% for Logan and the other 50% for Gage. Logan changes and would do anything he could for Skyla. When you read the series, you will see what I mean.
Marshall: Skyla always runs to Marshall when she has a problem and he is always there to help her even with his sadistic and annoying remarks. She can always count on him. Their relationship is somewhat like a love - hate relationship, but in the end of the series, I truly feel like she really cares for Marshall and would be with him fully if there wasn't Gage or Logan in the picture.
Rating: 5/5 Addison Moore does an incredible job of making the world of angels seem possible and developed a set of characters people can relate to. I really enjoyed how the author kept my intrigued and interested throughout the series. Normally I would be wry of a long series, but I am so happy I chose to read this one!
Other than some grammatical/spelling issues throughout both books, this was a very good/fun read.
Skyla ticks me off a lot though, so if you don't like when the MC is a pain in the ass and never listens to anyone (even when they are clearly trying to say things in their best interest), and they never learn from past 'not listening' ... then this book will piss you off to no end.
That's why it's getting four instead of five stars.
Otherwise, I found myself enraptured. The world building is excellent, the story is compelling, the characters are believable (if I can truly feel for them, the book is a win in my eyes).
Also, if you hate love triangles (or quadrangles), stay far away from this series. That will probably drive you batshit crazy.
*****SPOILERS*************NOTES FOR ME -Skyla is a Celestra - Most powerful of Nephilim. she also happens to be 'pure' blood, which puts a bigger bullseye on her back for the "counts" -- The bigger/badder Nephilim that fear celestra growing in power and taking them over. -Logan is like Skyla, but not as pure. -Gage is his cousin (but really his nephew we later find out in book #2). -Skyla loves both ... its a clusterfuck. -Marshall is the Sector who has taken a shine to Skyla and now suddenly loves her too/wants her and is creating all kinds of havoc in everyone's life to get her. -This has a little too much 'twilight-ness' to it... which is another reason it's getting only 4 stars. Logan is Edward and Gage is Jacob. I'm kind of seeing it ending the same way... it also plays out like Twilight... first book is all Logan and Skyla, second book is all Gage and Sklya cuz Logan feels she's safer not being with him (at least to the public eye). It's quite jw;oieuarosjkdjfk really. Yet, I like these kinds of books so to me it wasn't head-against-the-desk bad. -I REALLY can't wait to find out what really happened to Chloe and that's why I'm gonna read the next installment and probably any others after it (:

Now that Skyla has started to embrace her powers, she has started to use them more often.
When Logan tells her that they can't date publicly and she needs to fake date his cousin, Gage, Skyla's very hurt. Logan humiliated her at a party letting others know about their breakup. Skyla takes it personally and finds it hard to forgive him at first. So she goes all in with dating Gage.
Then she meets Marshall, the man she keeps seeing in her dreams. He's a sector. He wants her to marry him and have children with him and he'll do anything for her, even bring father back to life.
But right now, she's going to resurrect Chloe first. Which for some reason, I don't trust her.
A great start to this series!! I definitely recommend reading!
This is an extension of another series by the author in which Skyla Messenger was introduced. The timelines overlap this time from Skyla's perspective. Book 1 opens her eyes to the world of angels coexisting on Earth. In Book 2, she begins to explore her powers. Overall, these, hopefully, provide a solid foundation for the series.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
I had previously read Book 1 - Ethereal -, but did it again because I had enjoyed it so much, and to refresh my memory on the background to the story. Book 2 - Tremble - has very scary things happening, and with 3 men turning her emotions upside down, our heroine is very confused indeed. And every time she tries to change history, something else goes wrong ...
Celeste Series Book 1 and 2 were eye opening. The reality of the existence of multiple worlds was most interesting. The existence of the extraordinary lives that were constantly evolving in the lives of the characters, we're amazing. I look forward to the adventures of the up coming additions. Thank you for the journey.
Can't wait to start book 3!! The way that Addison makes everything so visual, it's like watching a movie play out around you! I'm completely attached to Skyla and Gage and Logan...❤️❤️
Absolutely amazing! Can't wait to read more from her!
Well written story. Vivid details. The twists in these books were unexpected. And as a reader I loved that I couldn't predict what was about to happen. Definitely worth the read!!!
Like any book meant to be a series, you cannot read just one. There are still a few unanswered questions by the end, but this was done well with a good twist on the angel angle.
I really would like to love this series but I can't. I have read other stories from Addison Moore and though they keep me hooked, they also leave me disappointed. Like a great meal, but not enough salt, or it's burnt. But I have found the perfect explanation to all the things that leave me unsatisfied in the Celestra series – I will disclose it at the end! First, I heartly agree with a lot of other reviews about what feels wrong:
Cliffhangers: I personally don't like to come to the end of a book without at least a bit of a closure. And what makes these books even worse is that every CHAPTER ends on a cliffhanger or with a major revelation. But instead of having the characters digest the newly findings or events, you find them doing something totally different when you turn to the next chapter. Some main events get totally lost: How important is Chloe's neclace and diary, but in the end,
The love triangle: Sorry, it just goes on and on. One minute, Syklar loves Logan, then she goes and kisses Gage. Even worse, she doesn't want to hurt Gage anymore and wants to commit to him but then she turns around and says I love you to Logan. But not enough that there are two godlike males head over heals for her, no, she finds others attractive too. It leaves me feeling sick from all this spinning and at one point I had to re-read passages to reassure myself I have got it right, she just said she loves the other guy... The problem is that after a while, she should really make a decision and stick to it or the boys should get fed up. It's getting annoying that there is no development, except another lover (or two) are added to the formular.
So there we are now at Skylar, the main character. Big problem: I don't like her – and she does nothing to make me fall in love with her. In the first book she is like a damsel in distress, always causing trouble and then needs to be rescued by her lover boys. She finds out she is a special angelic being with potential super powers and wants to fight the rulers who see her as a thread. But instead of mastering agility, speed and other useful fighting powers she might have, she goes on timetravel missions to rescue her dead dad (so he can help the damsel too). And things get worse every time on those journeys. Again, this goes on without a solution, other than her giving up. Frankly, a father who doesn't realise that this is not his 14 year old daughter at the time but a two year older future version, epecially with knowing her angelic status and potential timetravel ability, I don't think he would have been of great help anyway.
No other characters that are very likable, most are selfish and mean and very one dimensional, no layers. The only nice person is Gage, and he is a bit too good to be true. With all the twist and turns in these books, I always waited for him to reveal he's bad too. And who knows, he may be in one of the books to come in this series. Reading the reviews of what's to follow, it gets even worse. An island of people with angel blood and nobody is nice? I kind of respect Marshall in the way that he at least sticks to his rules.
Lots of twist and turns. Once you think the story is heading somewhere (the diary, Chloe) the story gets another twist or revelation (and subsequently the first part gets lost).
But even with all this, I still couldn't put the book down. Sadly, it made me so dissy, like on a merry-go-round, always the same and then suddenly a 180 degree turn and carry on riding. So, when thinking about reviewing the book series, I suddenly had the perfect explanation to what this story is about:
Skylar is an inmate of a mental asylum and we are reading her diary of dreams! She is trapped in a drug induced haze, probably traumatized by the death of her father (for real) and maybe even her best friend (Chloe) being murdered. She has been put there by her mother and step-father (a reason for hating them and dreaming of them as being evil) and is on medication (that's why the single chapters end so abrupt, she snaps out of one of her trips). All other characters are inmates, too. Ellis is doped by his medication or a junkie. Marshall is a nurse or doctor, giving the patients their medicine which makes them feel good and think for yourself about the sexual part he is playing in the book. Her cheer pratice symbolises therapy sessions, that's why she is so eager not miss them. Paragon Island stands for the asylum with all those “special” people that have a lot of issues. And even the dull and always grey and rainy days on Paragon island can be a metaphore for Skylar's days in this institution!
With this ending, I would be very happy and I wouldn't be surprised if it would be really the final twist Addison Moore has added as twists are truly enough around in this series. But I won't stay on this merry-go-round to find out...
The Celestra Series is one of my absolute favorite series ever! I read Ethereal when it first came out, and I've reread the whole series several times!!! I LOVE anything and everything Addison Moore writes! Her way with words and describing details and scenes is just incredible! Skyla Messenger has had her world turned upside-down. Her father died a horrible death, her mom has remarried an A-hole, and to top it all off, she's been uprooted to a tiny island in Washington... Paragon. As her surroundings change and she tries to adapt to her new life on Paragon, she starts to learn things aren't all what she thought they were. There are ANGELS, real life angels! And she's one of them. But not just a regular one, no... she's the purest, strongest kind! But some don't want her kind to exist, and they will go to great lengths to ensure she doesn't. But the enemies aren't human either... they're angels too. Logan Oliver. Oh, Logan! He's among the first people Skyla meets on Paragon, and he is H-O-T, HOT!!! He and Gage Oliver (yep, they're related) both fall for Skyla. There becomes a bit of a love triangle. Both Logan and Gage are head over heels for Skyla, and she feels the same! But who will end up owning her heart? This series is a wild ride! There is so much action and love and just, everything you could ask for in a book/series! It's a very fast-paced read and will have you clinging to your seat and holding on for dear life at times, to crying your heart out at others, to completely melting you into a puddle! You'll fall in love with these amazing characters, and you'll be glad there's plenty more books to read! There are a total of 8 books in this series, and also 2 Bonus reads: "Ethereal Knights" (which is Ethereal from Logan & Gage's point of view), AND "Perfect Love" (which I can't tell you what it's about cuz it would give spoilers from some of the other books. But you won't want to miss this one!). Then... Skyla grows up. And there is a whole new series, the "Celestra Forever After Series" (New Adult, not YA like Celestra) which takes you into Skyla's adult life! All of these AMAZING books detail Skyla's incredible journey, and what a journey it is! This is an absolute MUST READ series!!!
Ethereal: I decided to start reading this series because I had just finished the Countenance series and I did NOT want to leave this magical world that Addison Moore had created. Anyways, this book is about Skyla Messenger who is a pure Celestra, but is not aware of this until she meet Logan Oliver. There is an insta-love thing with them two. It's kinda like a forbidden love thing though because they aren't supposed to be together because they'll attract too much attention from the big, bad Counts. When Skyla begins to realize her true abilities she wants to go back in time and save her father from ever dying so she won't have step-Tad, as I call him. I do find Ms. Moore's writing to be particularly humorous when it's around the family. Moving on, Skyla and her family have moved into a recently murdered girl's house who's name is Chloe. Coincidentally her and Logan had a thing. This book just sets up the playing field for what I expect to be great things to come from this series.
Tremble: If you don't like love triangles you should be warned because Ms. Moore takes it up a notch into a love square...I think that's what it would be called. I'm not particularly bothered by the mixed feelings of love, but this one really had me going. Skyla is bent on getting rid of the Counts who killed her father, no matter the costs. I really do admire her stubbornness, but every time she goes back to try to save him she ends up messing it up even further. Personally, I would have given up. So, Skyla and Gage are a couple and she's trying to be his girlfriend for real, but she still has feelings for Logan. Then, out of nowhere comes Marshall and he has his own special brand of making you like him. I love his commentary, he made me laugh so much!! Skyla is always getting injured doing just about anything!! I swear she is more accident prone than little ole me. She ends up getting her own little ghost that torments her all the time, but when she turns that torture to Tad I have to say that I laughed my butt off!!! I would hate to see their medical bills because they are always holed up in the hospital for strange events. We also learn more about Chloe and I'm really starting to not like her.
Skyla moves to the gloriously rainy, foggy island of Paragon following the death of her father. Still reeling from the tragic event, Skyla is even more shocked to discover that she is living in the home that once belonged to the infamous Chloe; the local girl who was murdered the night of Homecoming. As death follows Skyla around, she must try harder than ever to unearth the truth of who she is and put an end to these tragic events before she finds herself in her own grave.
I rather enjoyed these two books. I found them to be a very fast read, as in I just could not put them down. I found the characters to be riveting at times and amusing at others. I believe their rampant emotions and hormones pretty accurately portrayed the scattered, hair brained thoughts and actions that actual teenagers may have. The plot line was intriguing with how it not only pulled in ethereal aspects into the story but also incorporated time travel and a little superhuman abilities. It was interesting and kept my attention.
That being said, there were a few things I wasn't too thrilled about. One being the love triangle and ongoing list of males vying for Skyla's attention. I find the use of love triangles in books these days a lot overused and very overrated; they almost start to feel like a filler for lack of other activity/plot lines. Secondly, I really, really disliked how Skyla finds out she has other abilities like super human speed and strength if she just believes she can do those things and practices those abilities. So, naturally, Skyla is thrown into a mess of problems with people trying to harm her. Never, in those problems does she ever try to use those new found abilities to her advantage. 'Hey Skyla, guess what?! You have super human strength and can move really fast but please don't spend another second thinking about that and how those abilities could potentially save your life and if you are ever attacked or in a life or death situation just scream like a girl and grab whatever object is closest to you to use like a weapon and hope for the best.' What?! Please Skyla, common sense, practicing using your abilities, it could save your life.
Skyla Messenger has a half brother Drake, her age and her siste Mia has a stepsister Melissa also the same age. Her mother thought it was a sign that she should marry Tad after her father had died. Skyla and the family are moving to Paragon Island off the coast of Washington. She had two more years to go with the classmates who specialize in the art of inbreeding so she thinks. Skyla meets the girl next door Brielle, who's best friend Chloe was taken and left in a shallow grave. Now the room Slyla has was Chloe's old room. Skyla got to meet the Oliver cousins, Logan and Gage in which are both infatuated with her. When Skyla touched Logan she can read his mind like she can do, which she was also able to do with her father. Logan was able to also do the same thing. Logan said he would explain why, because once she finds out things will never be the same. This story is about Skyla finds out what she is and her relationships with Logan and Gage. There are lots of twists and turns and I love the way Addison's character Skyla talks to herself. There is humor in it also.I loved the story and after reading the second half, I just got the next book in the series because this book isn't really a stand alone, it left me wanting more. So I will be reading the next one soon. Addison Moore, you got me hooked with characters I love and with the story.
This book has a unique subject matter and characters that go right along with it. I found the main character to be annoying, wishy washy, and extremely selfish. Not many likeable qualities so it's hard to get into the story. It got to be monotonous - every male character wanted the main character and each were doing their own thing to try and get that to happen. The protagonist repeatedly goes back to a point in time even though she keeps making a bigger and bigger mess of things when she does. She is not very bright and stumbles across the help to fix some of it. Not really interested in wasting time reading the other books in the series as I just don't like this series or the characters. It's well written and all works for a reason with the authors intent. May be more appealing to the younger readers who think and act the way the main character does.
Book 1 This was a great read a little confusing at first but as the story goes it draws you in. It definitely has almost a bit of everything from angels, factions, a love triangle, and so much more. The characters are well written each having a specific place in life. Skyla learns who she is after moving to a new place. The relationships that form through the story do not disappoint and you can sense that there's something more coming. I definitely would recommend this read. Book 2 This was even better than the first. This story had me hooked from beginning to end leaving me wanting to read on to the next book. The story will keep you guessing and wanting to know what's going to happen next. As the story continues the emotions takes you on a ride and the action is packed into the story. Then there's Marshall who's got something more to him. This a great read and can't wait to read the next book.
