Ready to be transported by dragon back to the hills and plains of Scotland?

Follow Alix as she discovers that not only has her family been keeping secrets about their history, but they also believe her and her brother to be a prophecy come true.
But as these secrets unravel, Alix must put the training she endured as a child to the test while tapping into skills she never had before.

Patterson does an amazing job of transporting you right into Alix and the MacLeod clans story. I really enjoyed getting to know each character, and truly not a single one felt out of place. A fantasy read that has magic, dragons, warriors, heartfelt romance, and Scottish accents...what more could you ask for.
This was a great start to the Caledonian series and I cannot wait to see where Alix and MacLeods next adventure takes them.

This book has everything a fantasy lover could ask for. To start, it’s set in one of the most dreamy locations; The Scottish Highlands. So obviously it’s steeped with rich history and traditions, mystic lands and creatures. When I said that this book has everything a fantasy reader could possibly want will be immersed in family secrets and prophecies and it wouldn’t be complete without Alix the badass FMC, because no fantasy novel is complete without an absolute baddie who would follow into darkness without light. Oh, and did I mention that there is DRAGONS? Yeah, cause there’s dragons. I did say it’s the complete package of a fantasy book. To top it off it’s wrapped up in top tier character development and thoughtful world building.

I am so impressed that this is Lisa-Maree’s debut novel and I cannot wait for book two to see where this series takes us next.

I also want to add that I am so grateful to have been an ARC reader for this novel. At the time of the read and now I’ve been recovering for a major spine surgery that is having a very complicated recovery. It’s left me stuff in bed with limited ability to move about in my own and immense pain. Thanks to this book I was transported to a different world. One that took my mind away from my anxieties and fears from everything I have been going through and I am so genuinely thankful to have had the company of your novel, Lisa-Maree and anyone else who decides to give this book a shot I hope it brings you joy and fills your heart with magic as it did mine.

Happy Reading Everyone ❤️

Be prepared to be transported to Caledonia’s highlands and mist shrouded isles. Skye is the perfect blend of Scottish clans, magic and dragons. The world building is descriptive and breathtaking, the magic system unique and there are dragons. What more could you want. Lady Alix is not your typical lady and she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Having a twin brother plus older brothers she can handle herself not only with her words but with her strength of character and her skill with both sword and arrows. Often putting the men in their place. This book I thoroughly enjoyed and cannot wait from Lisa to write book 2.

Skye is an adventure that follows the twins of the MacLeod clan of scotland (mainly alix). They are thrown into the secrets and responsibilities that come with being of MacLeod bloodline, uncovering magic, fairy, and dragons, as they train and prepare for a war they didn't know was coming.

Definitely giving of brave vibes to start with in the first chapter, as you discribe the chieftain MacLeod, i invisioned king furgus even before anyone spoke of or to the female lead, who then given the characters diologue gave of the spirit of merida with the same familial vibes with the way father and daughter expressed themselves together.

You get a lot of world building and character context straight away through actions and diologue. This book is so rich in tradition, culture, and old scottish lore based on the isle of skye (actually real). The wholesome feel of the clan of MacLeod instantly makes you fall in love and want to protect them. They are a very hearty family with a ton of love, laughter, community, and care.

Tommy and Alix's own story grows slowly but in a tame slow burn way. It doesn't grow with lust but with pure love for one another, and i found that very inspiring. It was really nice to see how trust and affection were built between them.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It really grabbed my attention and I found it very easy to read.

Now in saying that, this book has me completely confused because I have don't understand the point of the story.

I enjoyed the romance of the story. It wasn't forced and seemed natural for where the story is based.

However, I feel like the magic was unnecessary. Take away the magic and dragons, and you have a love story in Scotland with a coming war over possibly anything.

I know everything will be explained in the next books and I can't wait to read them.

Once again, I did enjoy this novel and I will be carrying on with the series. I do want to see where the story goes and how the characters develop.

Thank you to the Berry Agency and Lisa-Maree Patterson for providing me with a copy of the book in return for an honest review. I cannot wait to read book 2

EDIT: After thinking about this book for a while I realized magic doesn't need a system, it can just be and that's really the magic of magic. Coming from reading books that have intricate magic systems, I felt like it was necessary for this book to have one and it isn't. Just having magic being apart of the world makes it feel like a place you want to live in.

⚔️Think Brave, How To Train Your Dragon with a very slight Fourth Wing vibe 🐉

I enjoyed the Scottish setting, it made the story unique with a familiar feel. The family dynamic was fun and complex, I liked the relationship between Alix and her 3 brothers. Alix was a strong FMC, trained to battle with the best of them. The love story between Alix and Tommy was very cute (no spice). The really liked the dragons and elemental magic. I can’t wait to see that explored more in the next book. The battles scenes at the end kept me on the edge of my seat setting up the story well for the next one. Overall an enjoyable and easy read.

Thank you so much to Lisa-Maree Patterson for sending me a copy of Skye, you made my 6 hour bus trip bearable!

I loved the Highland setting and the inclusion of phrases from 'The Language of Auld' really allowed me to be immersed in the world building.
I am a sucker for a good fantasy book and so the second I heard dragons would be involved I said 'sign me up. I devoured all of their scenes, especially Alix learning to ride and fight on a dragon with the assistance of Tommy.

Now, speaking of Tommy, I am not normally a fan of romance plots that move as seemingly fast paced as this one, but I loved their connection and did in fact eat up the scenes when he was borderline crying and begging for her. What can I say, I love a man who is down bad, and that is definitely what he is. I also love how Alix is able to be more vulnerable when she's with him, breaking down her usually tough exterior.

I cannot wait to see where the next book takes Alix and Tommy and am looking forward to seeing more of Alix's dynamic with her siblings because it was a joy to read.

Quite enjoyed the story and the characters but especially the setting, it was very picturesque and could picture it quite well. There was a period about a quarter of the way in when I couldn’t really tell how much time had passed while they were away and then there were big events that weren’t really explained so hopefully will see more explanation in book two.

I loved this book. It was such a strong introduction to both the characters and the story, and I was drawn in right from the start. Alix is a great main character—strong, curious, and easy to connect with—and I really enjoyed the dynamic between her and Marcus.

The Scottish heritage and magic were a real highlight for me. The setting feels rich and atmospheric, and I loved how the ancient prophecies, fae elements, and family secrets slowly unfold without feeling rushed. There’s a great balance of magic, mystery, and intrigue, and by the end I was completely invested and ready to keep reading.

A fantastic start to the series.

Thank you to the lovely author Lisa-Maree Patterson for sending me copies of both Skye and Orkadia.

Skye was an excellent introduction to your world! It follows Alix, the wonderfully strong FMC, as she uncovers who she truly is and the mysteries surrounding her family’s lineage and their ties to everything fantasy lovers adore: fae, magic, dragons, and more all while preparing for an impending war?! (Sold!)

This is a fast-paced story, with occasional jumps forward in time (usually a few weeks), but the way Lisa-Maree tells it, I never felt like I missed a thing. If anything, those time skips gave me a deeper sense of how hard the characters have been training, researching the Auld Ones, or travelling.
(And honestly, my mind kept wondering how our FMC gets any privacy while travelling with a group of males for that long, I personally could NOT do it!)

I loved how this book transported me straight to the Highlands of Caledonia, sprinkled with what I’m assuming is Gaelic, adding that perfect touch of highland charm that I find so romantic.

This story has mystery, romance, strong women, rich family ties, and a world that completely captured my heart.

I cannot wait to dive into book two!

This story blends Scottish lore and traditions with magic, prophecy, dragons, and more! I did enjoy this story but it's very character driven and was a bit on the slower side for me. Definitely picked up in the end, and I'm curious what the next book will bring us!

Phew. I absolutely loved this book. It’s hard to explain the reasons why without spoilers but everything beyond the mist? Blew my mind. I was not expecting that. I’m jumping right into the next one as fast as my kindle can load it. Loved the FMC and the family dynamics. Absolutely recommend this book to fantasy and lovers of a good strong FMC.

This wasn’t an easy book for me to engage with. The characters feel underdeveloped the love story happened way too fast. The magic is normal magic but not. Maybe I need to learn more about the culture?

I adored this book.

It has:
Fun, sweet banter
Gorgeous imagery
Magic
Dragons
Family secrets
He falls first and hard.
The sweetest relationship I’ve read in a while. I was instantly connected to them and found myself openly smiling while reading their interactions.

I have also discovered I am really drawn to Scottish lore and the land. This was woven into story beautifully.

If you’re an outlander fan, wished it had magic and dragons. This is the book for you.

The ending was so exciting and I cannot wait to discover where the story goes from here.

I was given an ARC of this book by the author, Lisa. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I really enjoyed it.

I loved the Scottish setting. It was amazingly described. I struggled to get used to the language. There are quite a few grammatical errors so between this and the language it did take me a while.
I feel the whole focus of this book is the romance storyline. For 65% of the book, it's the yearning between them which was so nice to see it developed. But nothing else happened.
So much of the tales and key moments where left out, with weeks going by and key moments missed like Claire bonding with her dragon. Answers weren't given; she is meant to be this prophecy to save their people but isn't told anything. I got quite frustrated.
It's definitely a good story and worth a read but for me, I won't be continuing the story.

“If Outlander and Throne of Glass had a Scottish daughter, she’d be Skye.”

For those who left their hearts in Scotland — this tale calls you home.

Lady Alix MacLeod, daughter of the Chieftain of Caisteal Moar, was born under a moonless sky and marked by prophecy. With her twin brother Marcus, she carries the blood of warriors and healers, her family’s ancient bond with the auld magic of the Highlands whispered only in legend.

When a white stag appears and the forests fall silent, Alix’s fate begins to shift. Drawn across the misted hills and standing stones, she uncovers secrets long buried — of dragons, fae, and the powerful bloodline of Scáthach, the warrior goddess who once ruled from the shadows.

But dark forces stir in the mists, and Alix soon learns that her destiny will demand both sacrifice and fire.

A sweeping Celtic-inspired fantasy of kinship, prophecy, and the courage to stand between two worlds.

Perfect for readers of:

Epic Scottish fantasy with strong female leads

Myth, magic, and ancient clans

Emotional sibling bonds and hidden destinies

A blend of Outlander’s heart and Shadow and Bone’s mythic magic

🌟2.5 stars rounded up
Thank you to The Berry Agency and Lisa-Maree Patterson for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very 50/50 for me. I loved the premise, the setting, the world building, the family/sibling dynamics, and the fight scenes. Unfortunately, the actual execution of the story fell short for me. The pacing felt rushed and the timeline wasn’t established very well meaning the whole story and romance felt underdeveloped. There also wasn’t enough explanation regarding important plot points which left me feeling confused at some points and it felt like there was a lot that was missing or had been left out.

That being said, I did still enjoy it enough and hope for some of the issues that I had with this book to be resolved in book 2.
