It deals with mostly small scale sculpting of humanoid forms and is very well documented with photographs of every step. All the methods documented are solid form (no hollow stuff.) There are also a few sections that deal with cane building (eg latticino) and a great section on building eye murrine. Flame chemistry and its effects on striking colors are touched on as well as general bench flow and tools. I'd recommend Contemporary Lampworking volumes 1 and 2 by Bandhu Dunham over this book for the budding lampworker. I suppose this book would be well suited to a collector or a fan of Townsend looking for insight into his methods and wanting to expand their sculpting repertoire.
