He’s the protective single dad with too much on his plate. She’s the wild ray of sunshine with a secret crush. He needs a nanny. She needs a job. Sneaking around was never on the menu.

Dylan Davenport has always been the responsible one, but he’s bitten off more than he can chew. Looking out for his sisters. Running the family ranch. Managing his restaurant as head chef. And raising his six-year-old daughter on his own.

Poppy Golightly was eighteen years old when she left Aster Springs to get over her crush on her best friend’s brother. Now she’s back with a broken heart, an empty bank account, and an eternal optimism that her true love is out there somewhere.

When his sister convinces him to hire Poppy as his nanny, Dylan’s perfect control starts to slip. Poppy is fun and messy and spontaneous—all the things he isn’t. She’s also grown up and gorgeous. Magnificent with his daughter. Soft and warm and luminous.

Dylan knows his sister would never approve of him dating her best friend and he’s only ever done the right thing—until now. Soon heated gazes lead to forbidden tastes that turn into so much more.

Dylan is Poppy’s fairytale come true, but he can’t risk falling for another woman who’ll leave him and his daughter behind. Yet when the truth about their relationship is accidentally revealed, Dylan discovers just how hard he’ll fight to give Poppy her own happily ever after.
‘Sunshine’ is a single dad steamy small town romance with an HEA. It’s the second book in the Aster Springs series and can be read as a standalone.

”“ “Life is never just flour and water. It’s so much more. The ingredients may be simple. On their own, they might not even taste any good. But with the right perspective and a little extra effort, there’s always the potential to create something from next to nothing. Everyone has the power to be happy.”

Before i read this i was sooo excited because aa the cover is cute and the tropes are good too like single daddy x nanny!! Hot 🤭 the first half of the book was really good i read it in one sitting like i was literally enjoying it so much and i even started recommending to my friends!! But then I stopped reading and when i came back to it i kinda lost interest 😔 the insta lust started to annoy me so much and the fact that after 50% they did nothing but sneak around and fuck was such a turn off plss i wanted them to talk and have some cute moments 🧍‍♀️ I tried to bring my interest back to the book but honestly I couldn’t and I don’t know if it’s because of a slump or if the second half of the book was boring idk!! All i know is that my interest was gone and i was left reading just to be done with it ✋🏻

Overall the first half was super cutee I enjoyed it and lizzy is actually sooo cuteeee i lovee her sm!! Dylan was hot but cringy sometimes ( him being completely naked under the apron will hunt me to the grave ✋🏻😭)!! Poppy was good but i wish she wasn’t that obsessed with dylan from the very beginning ✋🏻

some books just feel like love—the kind that’s warm and gentle, the kind that makes you feel safe, the kind that finds you exactly when you need it most. sunshine was that kind of story. it was tender and full of heart, the kind of book that wraps around you like a hug and stays with you long after the last page.

poppy is the kind of person who carries love in everything she does. she’s bright and full of hope, always searching for a place to belong, even when the world has made her feel like she doesn’t. she gives and gives, never asking for much in return, but deep down, all she’s ever wanted is to be someone’s. to be chosen, to be cherished, to be home to somebody. watching her finally get that — to be surrounded by the love she’s always deserved — made my heart ache in the best way.

and dylan? this man. a single dad, a chef, and the kind of person who loves deeply, even when he doesn’t say it out loud. he’s protective, steady, and completely helpless when it comes to poppy—even when he tries to fight it. the way he watches her, the way he wants her, the way he cares so effortlessly? it’s everything. and as a father, he’s just as easy to love—patient, devoted, and always putting izzy first. dylan wasn’t just a love interest, he was the kind of man who makes a story unforgettable.

and izzy. the way i would actually do anything for this child. she’s full of life, a little chaotic in the best way, and the kind of kid who makes a book feel even more special. her bond with poppy was effortless, like they were meant to find each other. and the way dylan watches them, like he’s seeing something he didn’t even know he was missing?

this isn’t just a romance — it’s about family, healing, and the quiet kind of love that sneaks up on you when you least expect it. it’s soft and heartwarming, but it doesn’t shy away from the harder stuff either.

Oh I’m so fucking pissed right now that I just wasted my whole day reading this, to then download the bonus chapter to find it’s a whole novella of him having sex with his ex/baby mama. I’m like steaming mad. Honestly baffled. Truly. Why the FUCK would anyone want to read that after just reading about this couple getting their HEA???????????? It truly ruined the book

*just to be clear it’s labeled as a prequel when you open it, it’s not cheating. I already knew this and I’m still fuming. There’s no way to access this as far as I know unless you go to bonus content, which you do AFTER a book….*

“WE DO IT IN the bathtub and on the
floor of the bedroom. We do it on the dining table, on the sofa, bent over the kitchen counter. I fuck her with my fin-gers, my tongue, my cock, and still she wants more. So do I. In all the hours I'm with her, I give no thought at all to the real world. This Christmas weekend with her has been the gift I didn't know to wish for. I don't need to worry about yesterday or tomorrow or the consequences of a weekend fling.”

“Annalise is the sexiest, most sophisticated woman I've ever been with-might ever be with.”

Annalise is the ex/baby mama btw 🥰

Here’s a sweet excerpt from the bonus chapter. This is after multiple EXTREMELY descriptive scenes of him fucking his ex. Like I’m sick 🤢 I seriously thought I was getting a sweet bonus chapter, and then to open this shit up AFTER this couple has had their HEA to read about him fucking his ex in detail in every way possible???? What a waste of my time.

And the scenes with the ex were WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more descriptive than what he did with the h and he showed way more emotion with the ex, which makes it so much worse. I’m literally-like…….. wow so mad I wasted my last day of the weekend

I’d also LOOOOOVE to know how when Poppy’s dad wasn’t interested in her when she was younger, it was considered neglect. However, when Annalise doesn’t call her daughter or visit except when it’s convenient for her, she’s defended at every corner???? The author was obviously obsessed with Annalise, which I thought I was just imagining until I read that bonus content, so I’m not sure why she didn’t just write this book about Annalise and Dylan.

Oh boy, this small-town single dad was so RAW and beautiful 😭💖 I’m actually so in my feels right now, and IDK if it’s because I share so many of the FMC’s insecurities (which i think... i outgrew them... maybe..) or if it’s just mother nature messing with me 😭 iykyk but either way, this was the perfect book for when I started reading it.

I loved not only getting to know the small town but also the way they introduced the FMC as someone who’s “coming back” with her best friend, who just so happens to be the sister of the MMC 👀🔥 AKA, not only is this a single dad trope, but it’s also best friend’s brother??? AGHHH 😭💘 OH OH and she's going to be his daughters NANNY. This felt so homey but still brought all the tension and nail-biting vibes of “are we getting caught?”, which made the sexy scenes even better 🔥

ALSO THE HOPELESS ROMANTIC IN ME WAS SATISFIED the way he goes out of his way to like surprise her in tiny gestures AGHHH my heart melted and well i will recommend this to anyone that loves a small town and single parent but also that disney fairytale vibe of like "happily ever after".

“Stay here, Sunshine. Stay here with me forever.”

Sunshine was my definition of a perfect romance : a picturesque small-town setting with a western charm, a lovable child perfectly incorporated into the narrative, and, of course, a ridiculously attractive single dad, Dylan. to finish in apotheosis, we have Poppy; a beautifully flawed heroine who has been in love with her best friend’s brother for what feels like a lifetime.

the romance arc wasn’t exactly curved into a slow burn, but I still adored how they tiptoed around their feelings, navigating the weight of unspoken history and tangled connections; Poppy being Dylan’s daughter’s nanny, her lifelong friendship with his sister, and the unspoken boundaries they both hesitated to cross. but what I appreciated most was how maturely it all unfolded; no unnecessary drama, no tiresome other women drama, just two people finding their way to each other.

It was a light, heartwarming read, yet rich with character depth and just the right touch of heavier themes to make it memorable.

many thanks to Love Notes PR & the author from providing an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

LOVED Dylan & Poppy’s story! 😍

📖 Sunshine by Samantha Leigh
📚 book 2 • Aster Springs series
⭐️: 5/5
🌶️: open door, several descriptive scenes

💭 overall thoughts:
The Aster Springs series follows the Davenport family, and this is Dylan’s story.
It can be read as a standalone, but the first book gives some more context to the family history & dynamics.

Dylan is a chef, and runs the restaurant that’s part of the Silver Leaf Ranch (owned by his family). He’s also a single dad to Izzy (6), the product of a casual relationship with a woman who never had aspirations of motherhood.

Poppy has always been an honorary member of the Davenports, looking for a family to belong, since her own really wasn’t it for it.

She’s been best friends with Daisy (Dylan’s sister) for their entire lives. After many girls in school tried to use Daisy to get to her attractive brothers, Poppy vowed to never cross that line.

what I LOVED in this book:
- bar bathroom hallway “I have to kiss you now” moment
- she cuts his hair
- their texting 🔥
- the relationship Poppy has with Izzy
- chapter 26 (can’t remember why but I wrote this down with 🥹 this emoji!)
- The maturity of the conversations had between so many characters - how Izzy’s mother, Annalise, reacts to their relationship, how Daisy & Poppy work things out after the lies/secrets

read if you love:
💙 best friend’s brother/protective
🥘 single dad chef + nanny
🥹 longtime crush (childhood friends)
🤐 secret dating
🙃 opposites attract
🌳 small town
💞 dual 1st person pov

This book was absolutely amazing, and I loved it from start to finish. Samantha Leigh has delivered yet another captivating love story!

Dylan and Poppy embody the classic single dad and nanny trope, but I’ve never encountered characters quite like them before. With each page I turned, I found myself falling deeper in love with their journey. And let’s not forget Izzy, the adorable little girl who becomes the catalyst for bringing these two together!

This story is a beautiful second chance at love for Dylan, who has been burned in the past. I appreciated how the narrative brought everything full circle for Poppy, whose journey was anything but easy. Ultimately, she finds her safe haven with the Davenports, and it’s a heartwarming transformation that resonates deeply.

If you enjoy a dash of angst, delicious sexual tension, sweet romance, and feel-good moments filled with laughter, love, and a sprinkle of reckless chaos, I wholeheartedly recommend Sunshine! It’s a story that will live rent-free in my mind for a long time. I loved it just as much as Violet and Chord’s story in Wallflower.

Samantha Leigh has truly outdone herself, and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

A single dad and his sister’s best friend - recipe for perfection!

Poppy has know the Davenport family since a kid and she’s always had a crush on Dylan. Dylan was the protective older brother bailing Poppy and his sister out of trouble growing up.

The slow burn between these two was perfect. Poppy’s always wanted a happily ever after and Dylan wasn’t ready for Poppy to flip his world upside down as his daughter’s nanny.

My only dislike was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed once the secret is out of the bag.

ARC review! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 This book is a TREAT! I ate it up in just a few days time. Absolutely loved the blooming relationship between Dylan and Poppy. A nanny/single dad isn’t my absolute favorite trope, but I thought this plot line was adorable. The characters are real, raw, relatable and human! It was easy to connect with their fears, struggles, accomplishments and more! It felt nice to escape into their world while I read their story. The author does a great job with detail - painting the picture of every scene so you feel like you are there watching events unfold. I will note that there is also no shortage of spice here 🌶️🥵 There were certain times where I found myself skipping quickly through those scenes to get back to the actual plot after the first few times of intimacy. Ultimately, I enjoyed their storyline even better than Wallflower, which was fantastic too! I’m excited to see if we get more of Daisy’s, Finn’s or Charlie’s story too! 🤩

5 Star Review Sunshine (Aster Springs #2) by Samantha Leigh

Samantha Leigh is a new author to me and I am surprised I have not come across more of this author’s books before. This may have been my first book but it will not be my last.

I love single parent stories, especially sets in a small town, such as Aster Springs and when I read the blurb I couldn’t wait to read Dylan Davenport and Poppy (Sunshine) Golightly’s story.

I loved the relationship he had with his 6 year old daughter, Isobel and how Poppy formed such a special bond with her.

Hiring Poppy as his nanny complicates his life in more ways than he expected. For Poppy she has had feelings for her best friend’s brother for years.

The attraction between them is intense and once they cross the line, all bets are off.

I enjoyed their journey, it wasn’t easy but wow it was worth it.

I loved the first book in this series and couldn’t wait to continue with Dylan’s story. That being said - if you start with this book, you won’t be confused at all! The original couple is seen a couple times but you can start here with no problems.

I LOVED this book. There’s something about a single dad that always makes me swoon but he’s also a chef and cooks for them? Immediately yes. Also he demands she say “yes Chef” when they are in his restaurant so… enjoy.

Read this when you’re in the mood for…
- Best friend’s brother
- Single dad x nanny
- Secret relationship
- Jealous MMC
- First love/teen crush

I would recommend!

Absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this book so much! This had one of the sweetest endings I’ve read in a while. Cried my eyes out. The friendships, the family… 😭 so good.

Dylan and Poppy’s relationship just grew so organically, I really like how it developed. They’ve known each other forever and have liked each other to various degrees before and have never said it. From there, Poppy becomes Dylan’s daughter Izzy’s nanny…they spend more time together than Poppy just being his sister’s best friend…and, well…you can guess.

I liked the friendships and family aspect that underlies this whole story. It just made it feel more real and liked how it could actually happen. Nothing was really unbelievable and I actually really appreciated that. The impact of those friend and family ties and how relationships not only between romantic interests but the people around them can be complex was really done well in this book and became very touching in parts. I absolutely loved Daisy and Poppy’s relationship with each other as best friends. This book just had a nice richness and depth to it because of all of that.

The spice was great too, just melded right in with the storyline and was just the right amount and type. Very smooth.

Overall I would very much recommend this book if you want just a really lovely, sweet but spicy, heartwarming, friends-to-lovers, single dad/nanny book. This is the second book I’ve read from this author and I really like her style, I’ll definitely be looking out for more!

Single Dad x Nanny might just be my new favorite trope, and after reading this book, it will probably be yours too! This story is a true gem, it was everything I had hoped it would be after catching a glimpse of Poppy and Dylan's relationship in the first book.
Their journey is one of hope, resilience, love, and healing, filled with heartfelt moments that make the characters feel like friends. The tension and angst between Dylan and Poppy was off the charts , while the sweet interactions between Poppy and Izzy are totally adorable, Izzy totally steals the show!
Of course I have to mention the spice…. and all I’m going to say is ‘the champagne and strawberries 🍓 ‘ IYKYK 🥵🥵

Sam writes perfect small town romances with a found family theme, creating characters you can’t help but become attached to. I’m truly invested in the Davenport family's lives and can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Rating this 2.5 but rounding down to 2.

So despite my rating I really enjoyed this one. I liked the story and I enjoyed the characters and thought that they had pretty good depth.

I really liked the relationship between Izzy and Poppy. I thought it was actually really sweet and personally thought Izzy viewed Poppy as her “real mum” which helped me buy into the HEA.

Despite my incoming rant I actually really liked the relationship between Dylan and Poppy as well. I normally don’t like single Dad books because it always seems like the h is the second choice especially when the H & h knew each other before he had a kid with someone else. But in this case I did actually buy Dylan loved Poppy and I would say through out the book he was the one that really seems to want them to work and viewed her as the love of his life.

Right so I liked the characters and the story, why 2 stars??…rant incoming…

Because F*ck Annalise. Who the duck does this beech think she is?? No seriously. The self entitlement for some absentee “mother” who openly says she would never take on Izzy she certainly thought she was running the show.

The relationship between her and Dylan made me feel uncomfortable. It was like some weird ass D/s with her being the Domme. That’s honestly how it read. It was like she got a weird kick out of using sex and then their daughter to control Dylan.

Also Dylan basically spends the whole book saying how toxic Annalise is and how much her involvement in Izzy’s life is causing her anxiety and emotional issues and yet dumb ass still thinks having her in Izzy’s life is a good idea?? He says he wishes Izzy had a different mother but can’t man up and say “hey it’s best if you go back to being not involved because it’s hurting my daughter and giving her emotional damage”.

I’m sorry but Dylan wasn’t a good father. A good father protects their kids and makes tough decisions. And that was to tell Annalise to take a hike.

The fact that Izzy asks Dylan if Poppy can be her “mommy” before she knew anything was going on was so telling. It’s because she knew she didn’t have a mother, just this weird cold callous bitch that shows up to play “mum” when it suits her.

Annalise didn’t love Issy. I’m convinced she loved having the control over Dylan’s life. I’m also not convinced she didn’t get pregnant on purpose either just to maintain this control over Dylan.

Despite what was said, I don’t think Dylan wanted Annalise in a wife kind of way and I honestly don’t think he loved her at any stage. I actually don’t think he liked her. She was this unobtainable person that he was infatuated with. And if she stayed it would have been like he won a prize. So that did help sell me on his love for Poppy.

I can’t help think if Dylan had gotten his head out of his ass 10 years ago, he and Poppy would have had this beautiful life together without the bitch Annalise in their lives.

Also why couldn’t Mona just be a bad mother? Why drop the whole “oh I was abused” at 90% into the book??? Why??? It wasn’t needed! And honestly felt so cheap.

Another serious question, why did the author write a whole sex novella about Dylan and Annalise? Honestly why? Why not write an extra novella about Poppy and Dylan??? Do you honestly think readers would enjoy that more? I skimmed once I found out, but honestly fuck Annalise. And the end where Dylan is like “I know this is no strings but maybe in the future there will be a string to tie us together” HOMEBOY you want to be tied to this bitch forever??? It actually made me dislike Dylan. You know what, Fuck Dylan and Fuck Annalise.

****ARC Review****

Damn, Sam really out-did herself with this one. I will still forever adore Wallflower as the book that got me into her writing, but my word, Sunshine is a strong competitor for best book in this series so far. She really does know how to write a good romance book. So much tension, angst, admiration, love and sweet moments. And, wow, does she write a good spicy scene. As if the single dad x nanny trope doesn't absolutely slap on its own, but then you go and make it best friends brother too! Not to mention the fact that Izzy is adorable and perfect all on her own too. And all three of them together, well *chefs kiss* (pun intended) 👌
I loved this book and Dylan & Poppy so much and yep, its official, this book is perfection! An easy 5 ⭐️ read for sure!

Every moment between Dylan & Poppy had me loving them more and more. You could tell their affection and warmth for each other ran deep, from them being a part of each others life for so long. They already had the friendship connection locked down, now it was all about the romantic and physical connection. They had so much love to share between them not only as a couple but as a family too. And omg all their intimate moments had me feeling some kind of way. There were so many perfect moments where their connection truly blossomed and I would love to list them all, but lets just say, read the book and find out for yourself, trust me you will not be disappointed. Sam certainly did not disappoint with the spice in this book either. We already knew Dylan knew his way around the bedroom from his novella, but damn, with these two, it was even hotter.

Daddy "Yes, chef" Dylan, indeed. This man is everything you would want. Hot, sexy, single-dad, chef, who not only loves his daughter but is also obsessed with Poppy right from the get go. Plus he is kind, caring and attentive. He had me swooning from page 13 with the way he described Poppy. And then as the book went on, we were given loving and nuturing Dylan, best father ever Dylan, jealous Dylan, sexy Dylan, thoughtful and caring Dylan and boyfriend/husband goals Dylan. I don't usually vibe with a man with long hair, but this man may be changing my mind.

Poppy "Sunshine" Golightly is the brightest light that is just searching for her happily ever after and to find the family that wants her. My heart actually broke for her in this book. She never felt the warmth and love from within her own family and yet she has so much love to give. She just wanted to feel seen, loved and cherished and wanted to be fully accepted somewhere. And I'll forever feel emotional over the way that was finally given to her 🫶💛

This book turned me into an emotional mess come the end, it was so beautiful and well written. I loved that this story wasn't just about Dylan & Poppy's love but the love the entire Davenport family holds for Poppy too. Just everything about that ending had my heart melting and tears flowing. And then to be gifted the epilogue and best bonus scene - I love seeing couples happy and flourishing 💛

Thank you so much to Samantha & Love Notes PR for sending me an ARC copy of this book. I feel like a re-read of Wallflower & Sunshine will definitely be in order once this one is officially released 🫶

ARC review for 'Sunshine' by Samantha Leigh

Just finished 'Sunshine' and let me tell you, it’s a warm hug in book form! It’s all about found family, actual family, and that sweet, sweet love story between Poppy and Dylan that’s been simmering for a decade. Talk about a slow burn!

Poppy’s been crushing on Dylan forever, and when she comes back to Aster Springs, it’s like someone hit the “romantic reunion” button. Seriously, their love story was so inevitable that I’m surprised there wasn’t a confetti cannon going off. And can we take a moment to appreciate Izzy? This girl is the real MVP! She’s been through the wringer, and watching her heal felt like a therapy session I didn’t know I needed.

The transition from friends to lovers was handled with such care, making it clear that while they had the foundation of friendship locked down, it was now time to explore the romantic and physical dimensions of their relationship. The love they shared was not just between them as a couple but extended to the entire Davenport family, highlighting the importance of familial bonds in their journey.

Oh, the intimate moments! Sam certainly knows how to ignite the pages with spice, and the chemistry between Dylan and Poppy was electric. Having seen Dylan's prowess in the bedroom from his novella, I was eager to see how that would translate into their relationship, and let me tell you, it was even hotter than I anticipated. The intimate scenes were not only steamy but also reflective of their emotional depth, adding layers to their connection that left me breathless.

As the story progressed, I found myself becoming an emotional wreck by the end. The culmination of their love story was not just about Dylan and Poppy; it was also about the love that surrounded them, especially from the Davenport family. The ending was beautifully crafted, leaving my heart melting and tears flowing in the best possible way.

This book is a must-read. If you’re looking for a story that beautifully blends friendship, romance, and family love, look no further. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Dylan and Poppy’s story had it all - great banter , chemistry and both have been crushing on each other for YEARS !!

Tropes -
💛 Best friend’s brother
☀️ Single Dad x Nanny
💛 Opposite attracts
☀️ Small town romance
💛 Ranch

Poppy was so likeable . Returning to her hometown broken hearted and hurt I was happy to see her find joy, find love and allow herself to become vulnerable . She gained strength in seeking answers to try and heal and i loved her bravery . Always known for running , she fought that instinct and gained trust by words and actions . Her bond with Izzy was sweet and safe

Dylan was a great dad who had all the pressure of raising his daughter alone and dealing with her issues and demanding schedule with her new school and activities , he was head chef and managed his restaurant and had the stress of the ever growing changes of the ranch (…and breathe ) , it’s no wonder why he reluctantly accepted his sister’s push to get a nanny . His life became a cluster of chaos and mess but one thing never changed , his love for his daughter .. He set the bar high , the perfect boyfriend and dad . He was always ready to fix whatever is broken .

This book was so wholesome , they faced challenges, pain and struggle but together they gained a whole lot more . I liked the family dynamic, it’s crazy maybe sometimes they can be a little overbearing but they’re close and it all comes from a great place . They had great hearts . The pacing was so natural , emotional and although breached sensitive topics Samantha kept the story light . The epilogue was beautiful ! I couldn’t stop smiling

I’m so ready for the other siblings books ! I am definitely craving more !

I think the nickname “ sunshine “ is my favourite thing ! Poppy brought colour and chaos while Dylan was her safe place , her happy ever after 💛

✨ Thank you Samantha Leigh and Love Notes PR for the opportunity to read this arc in return for an honest review ✨

ARC Review

Tropes:
Single Dad x Nanny
Secret Relationship
Gifted 6 year old
Years of Pinning
Small Town
Opposites Attract
Best friend's Brother

I knew Poppy and Dylan would end up together and I was waiting "patiently" for their story! Let me tell you this story exceeded all expectations! It was a perfectly wholesome, lighthearted, yet very emotional story!

Poppy has had a crush on Dylan (her best friend's brother) since she was 12, but made a promise to Daisy to stay away from him. After having her heart broken she's back in Aster Springs and suddenly has a job as Dylan's daughter's nanny and this might be the thing to bring the two of them together!

Dylan has always been the responsible brother in the Davenport family. He's the one that stayed and took care of the ranch, but lately, it's became overwhelming and while he's refusing to hire a nanny, he can't deny that it would help. Now he just has to find a way to stay away from Poppy😅

These two were so sweet! Complete opposites that being out the best sides of each other and balance each other out. Poppy is literally bringing some fun into Dylan's life, while Dylan is helping Poppy see herself in a new way.

The connection between these two was amazing! So genuine, it made me think how they didn't end up together earlier, but they both needed time to grow!

Dylan is an amazing father and adding Poppy to their family was a perfect decision and exactly what all of them needed. Poppy brought a sense of stability to Izzy's life and I loved seeing it! Also, the fact that Izzy is extremely gifted, but she's still living her life to the fullest as a kid made me so happy!

The found family aspect in this story was so so wholesome! The whole Davenport family officially welcoming Poppy brought tears to my eyes!

I loved how this story touched on generational drama and how it works in different ways. Poppy "confronting" her mother and learning her side broke my heart for the both of them💔

I was so relieved for Izzy at the end and happy we got to see Annalise's(Izzy's mother) view of things and how family & love can come in different forms💛

Sunshine is a reflective and loving tale of found family, actual family, and everything in between. Poppy has loved Dylan for years, and Dylan sees her in a different light when she returns to Aster Springs after ten years away. Their love story is inevitable. She was always supposed to be a part of the Davenport family, and now it’s time to make it official.

This book was very sweet. Poppy and Dylan’s feelings were unwavering, which is always lovely to read in a world full of third act break-ups and miscommunications, and Izzy rounds off their love perfectly. For me, Izzy was the real star of the show. That girl has been through so much (a lot of which was very relatable to me), and to see her healing and processing throughout the book was exactly what I needed.

For me, Sunshine felt a bit slower than Wallflower and was quite long while still leaving aspects of the plot open. I understand this is a series so some answers may become clear later, but I’d have liked to have known more about Poppy’s dad, how her relationship changes with her mother, changes in arrangements with Annalise, and even Poppy and Daisy’s dynamic once the relationship is out in the open, e.g. how did it change when Poppy started staying the night? Where do they all live? I’d also have liked to see Dylan’s interactions with his individual siblings more, particularly Charlie. She lives in the same house but we saw very little of her, and she and Finn are definitely, as intended obviously, a mystery to me.

I’m genuinely excited to see how the rest of this series plays out. I can’t decide who I want next! I’m assuming Daisy, but I want answers about Finn and Charlie so ahhhh! How do I pick?!

Thank you to Love Notes PR for proving me an advanced copy of Sunshine.

I honestly don't even know where to start with writing a review for this one, other than it's the perfect combination of romance, emotions, laugh-out-loud and kick-your-feet-giggling moments.

Leigh has written what has to be my favourite single-parent romance in a long time (if not, ever) by bringing Dylan, Izzy and Poppy into the world. Now I won't lie, I knew of the character pairing before I started the previous book in the series, but that made me want to read it more as there was just something about Dylan that made me want to know more about him.

Everything about this book was amazing. I love that there's the history between Dylan and Poppy, and you can feel the tension and between them from the beginning. I ADORED Izzy. Like, I do not have words to explain how much I love that little girl, and she was the perfect piece in this love story. I love how Leigh wasn't afraid to touch on some lesser-discussed topics, but treated them in such a careful, sensitive way. And let me tell you, I can't hear the phrase "yes, Chef" now without having a certain *ahem* reaction.

This is the perfect balance of angst and romance, comedy and long-term pining for your best friend's brother. There are beautifully emotional moments (Leigh is one of few authors to make me cry whilst reading - I'll let you guys pick where she got me) and some that just make your heart grow immense sizes and leave you with the goofiest, happiest smile on your face. This is a found family story, in more than one way, and it shines through with each chapter.

Let's not forget how much I'm an absolute sucker for the nickname "Sunshine" - and Poppy is 100% that.

Thank you to the author and @lovenotes.pr for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

'And then you reappeared, and it was like seeing you for the first time. The sun rose that day like it does every other day, but for the first time in a long time, I felt it.'

This! Book!!! This was truly, easily one of my favorite romances ever. It's a perfect package and I loved every single second of it. Poppy is wild and unabashedly herself while Dylan is steady, reliable and protective, and following their journey was absolutely delightful. The single dad × nanny combination worked perfectly with their circumstances and secret childhood crushes. Poppy quickly became one of my favorite characters, and reading about her finally getting her happily ever after made tears appear in my eyes. She was the sweetest, and her connection to Izzy was extremely heartwarming. And Izzy! I loved how her being a gifted child was dealt with, but I also loved how it was talked about how some children might have learning difficulties.

There were many sickeningly sweet scenes that I highlighted and gushed over, a bunch of them that made me understand and feel for various different characters, and just the right amount of them that made my heart palpitate from the spiciness and tension. All in all, this was IT. If you're somehow still not convinced, there's the best friend's brother trope and a beautiful, sisterly friendship. Oh, and he's a chef who also owns a ranch. Oh, and it's set in a small town. I could keep going but I'm going to leave it to you to explore and enjoy on your own!

A huge thank you to Love Notes PR and the author for sending me an ARC of this book!

I was lucky enough to work with Samantha on this book, and I am so grateful to have had this opportunity! Dylan and Poppy were everything. This book is low angst but full of heart, warmth, tender, soft love.

Dylan is a single Dad, Chef, and raising his daughter Izzy on his family's ranch. He was the perfect Dad honestly, the opening scene of him laying with Izzy bought a wee tear to my Mama heart. He continually showed up for her, being the most present parent. Poppy was literally a ray of sunshine. I loved her; she was so bright, full of love and hope and looking for her happily ever after. Izzy was also a really special and important part of this book. I loved how Sam wrote her; she was the best parts of both her Mum and Dad. The bond that she formed with Poppy was so special; I think those two needed each other as much as Poppy and Dylan, did.

The way that Dylan and Poppy came together just made me feel so good. The way that Dylan chose her - it was all she'd ever wanted and I loved that for her. Dylan's family surrounded her in so much love, and she deserves it in copious amounts. There were so many cute scenes in this book, but my absolute favourite was the kitchen scene; the way Poppy wanted to create memories for Izzy like she had with Dylan's family was SO good!

I really enjoyed this book, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. If you're after a small town romance with super loveable characters, a gifted 6 year old, and moments of sweet, quiet love then read this book!

Thank you to Love Notes PR for the arc, and to Samantha for asking me to beta this book!

So first I would like to think Love Notes PR for selecting me to be an ARC reader of this book. I absolutely ATE this book up! I’m also a sucker for a nanny romance and then it was also best friend’s brother! The secret relationship just added for me as well. So Poppy ran back home after something happened to her. Her best friend Daisy talks her into being a she m nanny for her brother Dylan. He thinks he doesn’t need a nanny and is hesitant. They have known each other since they were younger because Poppy has always been friends with Daisy, but he never looked at her that way. It was kind of always just his sister’s best friend and nothing more, but it has been years now and she has grown up and so has he. Now they are seeing different sizes of each other based on their new relationship, but they’re a little because of Daisy and Izzy. Dylan doesn’t want to introduce someone if they aren’t going to be there for the long haul. Daisy made Poppy promise to never be interested in her brothers, but that has a deeper reason so they’re sneaking around with this relationship. The more they are together, the more they get to know each other and can see a possibility of a future. The problems weren’t dragged out and. They were assessed and figured out rather quickly. I also loved the epilogue!! It was adorable and I can’t wait to read more books in the series.

OMG, this book is simply amazing! While reading chapter one my heart was already bursting with all the feels! Sunshine instantly made me giggle, melt, and swoon hard! I immediately fell in love with the MCs and by page I could not wait for them to be together!
Sunshine is a beautiful childhood friends to lovers, nanny x single dad romance full of delicious tension, excruciating wanting, adorable family moments (I'm talking about cuteness overload and ovaries explosions... yes multiple ovaries explosions kind of moments), great banter, and unforgettable spicy scenes!
The kiss it better scene, the haircut scene, and the tattoos scene will always live rent free in my mind. And I'll never recover from the strawberry scene (iykyk)!
I absolutely loved Wallflower (book 1 of Aster Springs Series), but Sunshine definitely is my favorite!

ohhhh i am a sucker for a single dad... and OMG Dylan doesn't disappoint!!

Poor Poopy has loved him forever and doesn't know how to deal from a life of feeling not quite enough... she just breaks your heart.. you feel her sadness and struggle while always trying to be the good time girl..

Them together is just so good!

What i love about Samantha Leigh is that these stories could have these huge disastrous heart wrenching breakups and you almost feel how bad it can go.. but she writes it so tastefully without decimating the relationships and the story lines.

She gives the disclaimer in the beginning of the books and its so true.. she writes in a way that soothes the soul and gives a taste of heartbreak without loosing the happy a dn light heartedness of the story. even while working through heavy topics..

I really enjoy that!!

God I am a mess. I didn’t expect this book to make me feel emotional 🥹 but it did. It was such a beautiful story filled with love and family.

I didn’t think anyone could surpass Chord Davenport but my god has Dylan Davenport just swooped in and claimed the top spot 😍 He is everything you want in a man, the way he loved Izzy and Poppy just wholeheartedly, it was everything.

Poppy is amazing and knowing that she’s been in love with Dylan most of her life just made them finally coming together that much sweeter.

This book is full of heartwarming moments, found family and lots of love between the single dad and his little sisters best friend ❤️

- There is no third act breakup
- No OW drama from Izzy’s mum

Just pure happiness and feel good vibes ❤️

Sunshine is my first Samantha Leigh novel, and I don't think I could have popped this particular cherry with a better book.

I loved the story of fun-loving Poppy and single dad Dylan. I loved Izzy, the precocious gifted child who keeps everyone on their toes, and I loved Daisy, the long-suffering best friend who makes this story a touch on the forbidden side.

The other Davenport siblings whose stories I'll either need to read (Chord and Violet) or wait for them to be written, will make me return to Aster Springs and the thriving Davenport family business again and again.

I didn't expect to cry, but OMG, I'm so proud of Poppy, and the tears were so worth it!

I can't wait to find out which sibling is next...I don't know who to wish for first.
