Although my brother disappeared many cycles ago, I've never given up hope that he's alive. I get word about a human who has seen him, but she's evading me. When I finally come face to face with her, the situation becomes a whole lot more complicated, because I can't deny the pull toward the female with the smart mouth. She doesn't know it yet, but she'll be by my side as I rule over my people.
I heard about the Kaluma looking for me, and I'm not interested. No way. It's bad enough he knows I'm human, but if he finds out the reason I'm free from my captors, he'll surely lop my head off with his deadly blades.
But he's hard to shake, and when we finally meet, I realize there's a whole other problem—he's claiming me as his mate, and I'm not sure I can resist.
I didn’t like the narrators, but the story was good!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 🖤💙💜💚 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: 😋😀😘😍 Narration: 🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The Hero:Sherif - he is a Kaluma Pardux (Chieftain) from Torin and is looking for a human woman who lives alone on another planet who is said to have seen another Kaluma warrior that he thinks might be important to him. He wants to get information from her on this male she saw so he can see if it was his brother Kazel who disappeared years ago.
The heroine:Zuri (a.k.a Hack) - she had been in survival mode for years. She lives and works on a dangerous planet and hides the fact she is human by disguising herself as another race of alien. She has things in her past she doesn’t want to remember or for others to find out. She doesn’t like the feeling of giving a crap about anyone or anything, she knows that everything she has ever cared about got taken away and brutally killed.
The story: After Sherif finally catches up with Zuri, he tells her that he wants to find his brother because their father was the previous Pardux of their clan and he ended up going crazy and abusing many of the members of their society. Sherif wants to find his brother and see if that craziness is somehow passed down in their blood or if he can have a family for himself. Zuri doesn’t want to face her past, so she escapes from Sherif, but it isn’t long before she decides to go back and face her past and repay Kazel for what he did for her.
Zuri is tough and has been living on her own for a while, she never gives an inch when it comes to Sherif. She had been a wealthy and generous fashionista with her own successful boutique back on earth. They spend a lot of time fighting each other, though it isn’t long before she starts having dreams of him. That is what happens when a human female starts a mating bond with a Kaluma. The story is a good one as Sherif’s brother is being held as a slave on another planet in a place that is well guarded.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Ember Bell and Todd Mclaren. Todd Mclaren has a decent voice, but is not one of my favorite narrators, he sounds a bit older than I like and his voice for female characters is atrocious, especially on the intimate scenes. Ember has an expressive voice, but like Todd, she sounded a bit old for Zuri and her voice for male characters was bad. I’m glad that the next book goes back to Jillian Macie. I liked her better. Either way, this series would have been much better in duet narration.
Another outstanding read in the Mates of the Kaluma series. This author captured me with book one and I've been hooked diving into the next book. I also want to read more (other series) by this author.
Claimed by the Alien Chieftain was everything I was hoping Sherif's story would be. He and Zuri were hawt together and loved how they didn't really like each other at first then as time went by and they had to work together their feelings changed. It was a nice build up and we'll developed romance. The story is also full of action, adventure, and sexy moments. We also learn more about the evil alien who has control of the Council now and what her plans are. I also enjoyed the set up into the next installment. Can't wait to dive into book four.
Enjoying this series a lot. There’s a pattern with the Linyx (yes it’s still an operating system to me but whatever) fated mate pairings and some spelling/grammatical things that distract but the story is good and I like the characters. Love how the past history of the Kaluma is informing their actions today with respect to claiming those mates. Really intrigued with the setup for the next book so I’m still on this train and eager to see where it leads.
3.5 This was my favorite of the series so far, but I'm still not feeling these guys as much as the Drix. I did love Zuri and Sherif's dynamic in the beginning!
This 3rd installment was awesome! And everything I hoped Sherif's story would be. He and Zuri were 🔥 together. I love the lead in to what the next book will be, and that I got to see a few of my fave Drixonian Warriors in this one too, even though it was brief. 😍😍
Right now I am indulging in the bonus material for this book and book 2, but afterwards I will be rushing over to Kazel's story, book 4.
I have been looking forward to this story for a while and it didn’t disappoint!
***** Rating: 5 stars Steam: 3 flames Genre: Alien / Sci-Fi Romance ***** Zuri, aka Hacker, has been surviving on her wits and tech skills for many rotations but now she has a big Kaluma, Sherif, hunting her for information… This may be one rotation where her skills can’t protect her.
Zuri is a strong, intelligent, spitfire. Sherif is an alpha through and through, but he has been struggling with self-doubts. Zuri and Sherif together were an unstoppable force. Zuri is a warrior and Sherif never tried to tame that, he was still protective but not smothering. That is a great hero.
The storyline was once again fantastic and instantly drew me in. Claimed by the Alien Chieftain is a fast-paced, fated-mates, enemies-to-lovers romance that will have you swooning and falling in love with yet another broken alien. The world building is truly phenomenal and you can picture the alien animal life, smell the plants, and feel the tension between these two fantastic characters.
Claimed by the Chieftain is another five star read from the Mates of Kaluma series. If you are looking for strong alien alpha’s who support and cherish their females and would never dream of breaking their spirit, try any one of Ella Maven’s series. I have not read a book that was less than four stars in the Drixonian’s, Stolen Warriors, or Mates of the Kaluma series.
I love this series 💖💖 Zuri was abducted long ago, was rescued and has spent the last few years of her life helping as many refugees as she can. In the last book she helped Bloom and Covas and told them about another male who looked like him. When Sherif rescues them and learns this information he decides to hunt her down. Zuri hasn't stayed alive and a!One this long without being cunning and smart, but somehow Sherif finds her anyway. Even though their relationship starts off rough their stories slowly unfold and they agree to help one another as their adventure takes them into dangerous situations love, respect and passion bloom between the two. It's a fantastic story with a great ending that give hints of more excellent stories to come💖💖🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖

I enjoyed this book. She knows how to use explosives and hack computers. He rescues her in some pretty epic ways.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Hero's brother was supposedly dead. They are both devastated halfway through the book. But by the end it turns out hero's brother is alive and brother saves them both.
This is the best one yet that I've read in the series! Enjoyed reading from start to finish. It was action packed, fast paced, the characters evolved, and having a black female lead/ love interest was my favorite part. If you're into alien adventure romance novellas then this is one to check out. I fully recommend. It gave everything it was supposed to give!!
Lots of adventure in this book as Sherif searches for his brother. He finds Zuri and lots of near death experiences. But in the end will finding his mate be enough for him? What will the future hold for the Kaluma and Drixonians? Read to find out!
I loved the transition from enemies to reluctant allies to lovers in this! All the bonding and genuine growth in both characters and their relationship was excellent. My big complain is that this felt short - the pace was fast, but I wanted more of the romance and an explanation of the dreams!
I liked Zuri more than Serif. He grew on me but I liked her from the very beginning. I am excited to continue the series as I enjoy the multibook plot.
This story bored me. It was the kind of journey quest I find unbelievable due to the constant conflicts and easy resolutions. The audiobook narrators did not help. Neither one could do an opposite gender voice well and it was really distracting. The female narrator makes the MMC sound like a monotone neanderthal and the male narrator makes the FMC sound both hoarse and shrill at the same time. They should have just done the dialogue for each other. The female narrator also overenunciates and had weird inflections and both irked me.

Claimed by the alien chieftain de Ella Maven Serie Mates of Kaluma libro 3
Argumento:
Ever wondered what it would be like to copulate with an alien that’s part man, part magical lizard? You don’t want to miss these!
This author is absolutely brilliant with her writing style. They (she?) have balanced the perfect amount of action, adventure, desire and romance. I have read every single book in this series (starting with the Drixonian Warrior Series), including every book of the each offshoot. This book in this series is one of those offshoots. We first met the Kaluma Species amidst the Drixonian series. The only similarity to the Drixonians the Kaluma have is a similar size and look, along with compatibility and attraction to human females. The Kaluma are not blue like the Drix, but bronze skin mixed with scales…
…And here is where these books lost me…
Supposedly, the Kaluma have the ability to “turn invisible” by “flipping” their lizard-like scales. Okay sure. We’re taking aliens here, so I can wrap my head around the biology incorporated with this idea. What I can’t wrap my head around? Somehow, once a human female is a bonded mate to a Kaluma, SHE now has the ability to turn invisible. HOW?! She doesn’t have magical scales that flip over, but we’re supposed to believe it just “happened?” Yeah… no. The author completely lost me there. I also cannot get on board with the “clothes” randomly turning invisible as well. This concept was not well thought out, in my humble opinion. What I found really fascinating is the ability to dream about the future. That “ability” being the result of the mate bond made a lot more sense than turning invisible.
There are a numerous amount of editorial errors throughout each book, but not enough to take away from the experience.
I will add, however, with a bit of disappointment, that while each book has different characters with different outlooks, each outcome is exactly the same. Boy saves girl, boy has issues about his past that prevents him from “claiming” girl, girl has exact same issues, girl saves boy somehow, girl magically becomes invisible as a result of being mated, boy and girl finally accept their feelings for each other and live happily ever after. That’s the bases for each and every book. Still, I will read it over and over again with a sense of fulfillment. This particular book was my favorite of the 4 written in this series. I think the reason why is because the human female was depicted as a self-sufficient bad-ass opposed to the helpless damsel in distress. I prefer the perception of a strong woman who can hold her own.
Kinda glad the author ditched making more books with this offshoot, because I am looking forward to more Drixonian stories. This book is still worth the read, even with its flaws.

Sherif is searching for Zuri, the human who helped Cravus and Bloom escape, because she knows something about his missing brother. Zuri isn’t so sure she wants to help Sherif, but when the council corruption rears its head again, they find themselves working together.
First, this is NOT a standalone. While the romance is a standalone story for this book, the situation regarding the characters and why they are where they are is covered in the previous book. The council corruption also started in a previous book- so at the very least you need to read the previous two Mates of the Kaluma books. Ideally you would also have read all the Drixonian Warriors and the Stolen Warriors series first too, since this is all part of the same universe, and those two series set up some of the characters in this one.
That being said, this is an enjoyable story featuring a guilt ridden hero, and a heroine who has managed to forge a path for herself in a hostile galaxy. Zuri is easily the toughest, scrappiest human we’ve met in this universe yet (though I credit Anna, from the first Drixonian story, as being the most resourceful). We don’t hear much about her time in that part of the Galaxy, but it’s not been easy- yet she has managed to make a living for herself, and help others too. Sherif is on a mission to find his missing brother, and maybe find some answers. He’s honourable and fair, and while the mistakes of his past look enormous to him, he too was a victim- it just takes Zuri to balance his outlook!
As with the other stories in this universe, you can expect some steamy scenes, alien anatomy, a number of battle scenes, and some enjoyable banter between characters. If you’ve loved the Drixonians or are a die hard SFR/alien romance fan, then the Kaluma are worth reading.

““Better?” I sputtered. “There is no way a human male compares to a Kaluma. Do they have spiks?” I pointed to my shoulders. “Can they blank, use weapons, and can their c*cks do—?”
“Oh my God, okay, fine you’re superior.” She rolled her eyes. “Toxic masculinity exists in the Rinian galaxy too, I guess.””
Previously, Sherif’s brother Kazel was believed to have been killed, and Sherif finds out that his brother is still alive. The last person known to have interacted with him is Zuri, a human living on her own and wanted by the Council for what she’s done under the name Hack. She doesn’t particularly want to talk to Sherif, but he manages to convince her.
This was fast and delicious. This is pretty much a comfort read, with no big surprises for me and I tore through it as I’ve done with the rest of her books. It made me giggle and this whole series is a happy zone for me.
I’m not quite as drawn to the Kaluma as I was to the Drixonian series, and this series tends to be a little darker because of the past Kaluma history, but I still enjoy it.
⚔️ “So now… if I ask to touch you, will you tell me no, kotche?” ~~~ Zuri is one badass woman! She’s brave, stubborn, super smart, resourceful, mouthy, prickly and fierce. She’s amazing and I’ve loved everything about her!
And Sherif was awesome! At first glance he appears cold and ruthless, but there is more to him that meets the eye. He’s protective, strong, honorable, thoughtful and fiercely possessive. And he’s dealing with quite a lot. I absolutely adored him!
The development of their relationship was so perfect. The first time they met was epic! In the beginning, there was so much distrust and animosity between them. But Zuri and Sherif were truly a great match and one badass couple. Zuri was exactly what the Kaluma chieftain needed and time and time again they proved what a great team they were. And the passion they shared was so so hot! After everything they both have been through, they more than deserved to find happiness and love with each other.
Overall, the story is another magnificent addition to the series. It’s filled with fast-paced action, danger, suspense, twists, steamy romance and wonderful characters.
I couldn’t put it down and loved every page of it!
When Sherif gets word that a human woman saw his long lost brother he just has to go and follow up on the lead. However, finding her and talking to her is proving difficult. When he does finally find her everything becomes more complicated as he feels an undeniable draw to her. The female with the smart mouth has no idea yet but she will be by his side when he rules his people. Zuri has heard that there was a Kaluma looking for her but she has no interest in seeing him as she doesn't want to tell him why she is free from her captors, But as he is hard to shake off and when they meet she realises that she now has a whole new problem as he is claiming that she is his mate and she is not confident that she can resist.
I enjoyed this story which had lots of danger and drama both when Sherif finally met Zuri and when they tried to find and rescue his brother together. I loved the way that their relationship was built until it was a solid foundation that they could become mates from. It was also great to see that Zuri had a softer side and wasn't just the badass that she appeared to be. Easy to read and understand. Contains explicit sexual content.
Their meet cute was hysterical with her boobytraps and feisty spirit. Sheriff had quite the evolution over the book both with his attitude towards zuri and himself. He was on a mission to find his brother or at least determine if his bloodline is corrupt before starting the next generation. You could see the wounds were still deep and painful over losing kazel and what his father did. Zuri was a badass but you learn to like her. She needed to shot first and ask later in order to protect herself. And that the only reason she has lasted this long. I love how she took what she knew on earth and learned all she could about tech and communications to stay ahead. So glad sherif got a HEA and we got confirmation on kazel. I can’t wait for his book. A war is brewing but like it said in the book they don’t know what their in for against Kaluma and drixonians who have mates and something to fight for. Can’t wait.
I wish I could give this book a 5 star. I really enjoyed the characters and world building, but there were just so many misspelled/misplaced words. Even Zuri, the main female character, had her name spelled wrong (Zure). And this wasn't just a couple of times... this was almost every page. Otherwise, I normally overlook grammar and spelling. It can be hard to catch them all, but this... it was a lot.
The book earned the 4 stars because of the characters and plot. I might go on to read the other books. I haven't decided yet.
If you're looking for a couple of independent and strong characters, then this is the book. The male didn't overpower the female, and they had a lot of heat between them. Elle kept me turning the page. She even has me interested in trying her other books at some point.
OMG was this one actioned packed! Quite a bit more than the other two in the series. Lot's of information to digest at the end.
***Spoiler Alert*** I knew as soon as Bloom mentioned Zuri to Sherif that this was going to be a good book and it did not disappoint!
There was a lot more action, a lot more blood in this one so if you are squeemish, stay clear of this one. It seems like everytime Sherif turned around he was offing something.
I really liked the way Zuri was a tech guru, it was a little stretchy sometimes that she just so happened to be able to do something but then again, the Kamula warriors seem to fighting gods so it all evens out.
I really enjoyed Sherif's character ARC too, it was nice to see the stick in the mud become a real person. Very well done.
