Ever since a cosmic phone call brought the four literal young goddesses Belldandy, Urd, Skuld - and, like an occasional vowel, Peorth - to live in college student Keiichi's residence, his personal life has been turned upside down, sideways and sometimes even into strange dimensions! As the Parent-Child Showdown between Keiichi and his fa - um, "Keima-san," races its way along the night roads of the Inokuradai Circuit, his mo - uh, "Takano-san," passes the time by whupping the Goddesses at mahjong. But does she realize what they really are? Then, cry "Roadtrip!" and let Chihiro's Mini Cooper slip into gear, as she, Bell and Keiichi hit the highway to a hot springs. But the vacation from drama is brief - and readers are advised to prepare for the advent of... the Fifth Goddess!
Kōsuke Fujishima (藤島康介, born July 7, 1964) is a Japanese manga artist.
Born in Chiba, Japan, he first came to public attention as an editor of Puff magazine, his first job after completing high school. Fujishima originally intended to be a draftsman, but took the editorial role after failing to get a drafting apprenticeship. He later became assistant to manga artist Tatsuya Egawa in the production of the Making Be Free! manga, and in 1986 began his first original manga series You're Under Arrest. His second manga series Oh My Goddess!, also translated as Ah! My Goddess, is extremely popular and has made Fujishima a household name in Japan. In addition, he is also well known as the character designer for several games in the Tales RPG video game series and Sakura Wars.
He is known for his love of automobiles and motorcycles, and several of his series and their characters reflect this, such as in éX-Driver and Oh My Goddess!.
This volume went by really quickly, wrapping up the craziness with Keiichi's parents and sending Keiichi, Belldandy, and one unexpected guest off to the hot springs. While it isn't the hot spring they intended, Keiichi isn't disappointed. Plus, miraculously, they manage to go there without any of the other goddesses interrupting. For once! They also introduce the goddess Lind at the end, starting off the more plot heavy chapters again.
I have to say this volume is a real nothing burger in terms of the overall story. No major battles or truly heartbreaking emotional moments. Just a wrap of Keiichi and his dad bonding (in their unique way) and a road comedy arc that goes on for like 3 chapters. A new storyline begins with the final chapter and hopefully things will be more engaging from there.
Running Dialogue: Keiichi and his father are still racing.
The Path of Belief: Keiichi is doing really well but the run across a van and a very narrow pathway to the left, so Keiichi hits his brakes.
Prepared to Win, Prepared to Lose: Keiichi loses, but his mother knows he had to slow down to prevent his father from wrecking.
The Real You: Keiichi's parents leave without realizing that all the women in the house are goddesses.
The Hot Springs Episode: Belldandy, Keiichi and Chihiro are all going to go to the hot springs. On the way they run out of gas.
I Dub Thee, Yuufuin: More things go wrong. Belldandy finds a small hot springs by the side of the road and the three stop there.
Fighting Wings: The story opens in heaven a the Magical Creatures Research Center. The angelic parts of the three goddesses are evident at Keiichi's home, meanwhile. A goddess from the war department, named Lind, arrives. She says someone has stolen a device called The Eater of Angels.
I got the original copy in Japanese. I can't understand it (though I could read hiragana), so I bought the English translated version. It's just a collectible for me (and for practice reading Japanese). フううう ほほほ。私はすこしにほんごがはなけます~
