THIS IS A RE-RELEASE!!!! Please be aware that this book has been previously released under the same title.
Messiah Graham is a big-time NBA player on the path to the biggest moment in his career. Tragedy strikes, leaving his dreams shattered and his heart destroyed. In an effort to keep his promises, he makes a decision that changes his life forever.
Miyana Jackson, struggling with a newborn and navigating through grief after the loss of her first love, is hit with blow after blow when secrets are revealed that leave her world crumbling around her. Accepting the offer from a close friend was only supposed to be temporary but things don’t always go as planned. How do you choose between what’s right or wrong when your heart is on the line?
Don't make me wait was a very thoughtful story with many messages in tow. What is one to do when the man you loved turned out to be someone you did not realize was not yours alone? And his best friend who always had to take up your slack is the better man. Yaya deserved better than Tray dished out, and I assumed some other stuff would surface later. Tray's family members were pure evil, and I hope there is a follow-up story to address their depraved behavior. And what about the other baby? Anyway, I was pleased that his friend and bestie Messiah picked up the torch and ran for the Gold. Messiah, his family, and his entire support system were just what Yaya needed. I hope we hear more about her siblings, Solomon and Lea, also Loyal too. Overall, this was a good read.
There was a lot in this story to take in….First, Trey’s Ass got off too easy…he was trash and so was his family! Messiah & Miyana had a lot to contend with…This was really an interesting take on a friends to lovers story….I Love how YaYa stepped up to take care of her siblings because her mother was trash too….Messiah’s family was the only people about love and helping one another….my best guess since there were a few things unresolved that another story will follow.
Tray needs to be unburied & killed again cause he did Yaya foul. Messiah was the best thing for Deuce and Yaya. Messiah stepped up from day one for them. I love the Graham family. It was cute seeing Loyal start falling in this book and see when he comes full circle in his story. I can’t wait to the rest of the Graham family gets there happily ever after.
Warning there is a suicide attempt and child abuse mentioned in the book
This book was so good. Their love was taboo but you can’t worry about what everyone else think. Their feelings simmered for years and when they came to a head, whew! Fireworks.
Whew chile! if Miyanna didn’t give me a run for my own sanity I don’t know what’s to be true but what you wasn’t gone do is play in her face because you was gone catch them hands… I loved Messiah he was everything straight out the gate and I loved that for Yaya and Deuce…. The Grahams are amazing and I need Mama E’s story cause them sons gone cut up… Kami never steers us wrong with her pen game and i can’t wait for what’s next
This was a good book overall. So why only 3 starts, right. Well, it read like a well-written rough draft. The timeline was super sketchy. I could never tell how much time had gone by or when it was going to flip backward at random points in the story. There was too much time spent on needless details and not enough pertinent details to flesh out certain parts of the plot. It was like things were written in out of the blue just to fill in holes. One of the big ones was Miy all of a sudden having degreeS and cosmetology background. She just started doing intricate nail designs out of thin air. Then, there were numerous basic errors like misplaced or missing words and such.
Messiah was a good MMC, but I never believed he was a starting NBA player on a championship team. He's still a book bae tho.
Miy was a whiny brat at times, and she did leave her siblings behind without looking back. She's lucky she was so pretty. 🙄🥴😂
I enjoyed this book for the most part, so I'll check out at least one more by the author so I can really decide if the writing style is for me.
Beautiful ❤️ I cried, & I laughed. These Graham men are just 😘 *chef’s kiss. At first I was like no, nope not the homie lover friend. But this story is so much more than that, it’s a beautiful depiction of redemptive love, accepting people where they are and of family bonds. I’m glad I gave their story a chance. Miyana is me, I just felt her, and I felt for her. The triggers of abuse, abandonment, postpartum depression, and dealing with grief. Not to even mention the mess Tray left behind. Chile it was a lot 💔. Messiah Graham wasn’t looking for love and it high jacked him. I loved so much about this story because it was so relatable! Mama E’s wisdom and love was just top tier. ❤️🫶🏾 loved this one. Running to see what Loyal is up to next! Loving this family series ♥️
“It hurts right now, but I promise this won’t last forever. I just need you to push through it. Do you understand me? I need you to fight,” Messiah Graham
“There’s no point in having a man if he can’t make things happen for you. It’s my job to protect your mind, heart, and body. If I can’t be the remedy to the things that cause you pain, I'm no good for you. Everything I give to you, it’s because you deserve it. You never have to question that.” Messiah Graham 👏🏾🫶🏾
“I may be Superman in your story, but you’ve always been the hero in mine. I owe you the world because you gave me a reason to wake up in the morning.” Messiah Graham ♥️🫶🏾👏🏾
This book was a whirlwind of emotions for me. Whew that YaYa about sent me to the upper room with her emotions. I wanted to shake her so many times until I really thought about all she had previously gone through and continued to go through. At times she seemed weak, but in all honesty, her strength was a true testament to perseverance. Messiah! What can I say other than he is such a man. The foundation that his mother, uncle and family laid, definitely paid off in the way he carried himself along with his family. He was genuinely a good MAN. I loved the family dynamic and the way we as readers were able to see a full 360° of love and life for Miyana, Messiah and baby Deuce. I just wonder if they really would have been able to fight their feelings if things had gone another way. Because to me, those two were fated. Absolutely loved this and can't wait for the next read.
Out of the whole Graham series, Messiah's book was the most anticipated for me. I knew this book was going to have me in my feelings and Kami did not disappoint. Messiah and Miyana experience a great loss, the father of her son and his bestfriend. It devastates them both and the book takes you on a journey of their grief, healing, and love. The way this man loved her through it all was book boyfriend worthy. Their chemistry was everything, and their banter was top-tier had me dying lol. Kami gave us another one!
Loved this story. I didn't realize I had already read about Rule and Nayeli so that was a fun surprise seeing them mentioned. This couple went through a lot. I could relate so much to Miyana it's scary. I'm glad they able to overcome.
Listen, me and Yaya was about to fight at one point, but I had to get myself together and realize all the trauma she got handed. This was such a great read!! I’m ready to dive into Loyal now.
My nerves ain’t never been so bad between two people. These 2 had me shooketh and livin on a prayer waiting for God himself to come gather whatever was left of yana edges and the remnants of siah beard after deuce pulled most of it out. But I’m glad the God I serve made a way baby cuz whew chillay!
I started this book two months ago but went into a reading slump and put it down for a while. I picked up back up a few days ago and let me tell you how freaking good it is… Tooooo good!
Tray worked my nerves from the beginning and I knew he couldn’t get any worse, but he did and he didn’t even stick around to deal with the consequences of his actions. Yaya loved this man so much and all he did was fool around and leave her lonely every chance he got. Luckily for her she had a Messiah, who she and Tray were childhood friends with. The way he stayed having her back had me rooting for him from jump. He really didn’t have to step up the way he did. On top of that his family was truly amazing; a gift from God, unlike Tray and YaYa’s dysfunctional family members. They were so trifling. I’m just happy my girl got a happy ending and worked on healing herself.
Noting that this story does touch on some heavy topics including postpartum depression, death, and SA.
I was so ready for this to end. I started skipping pages just to get to the end, and then once I got there, I skipped the last maybe 20 pages. I was just over it. I really didn't like this couple together, and it had nothing to do with how they got together. I think Miyana was extremely annoying. We had to read her insecurity, selfishness, and childishness play out chapter after chapter. It was exhausting. If this was my first book by this author, I likely wouldn't come back. Because I've read and enjoyed Rule and Nayeli's book, I'll likely read more of her work, but I may need to take a break. That's how tiring this one was.
This was a good read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Tray was really messing up. Tragedy has to happen in order for everyone else to heal. I loved the friendship between YAYA and Siah. The writing was on the wall!
Don’t Make Me Wait - Kami 4.75/5 - I jut knew that I was going to like this story because of who wrote it. But, I had no idea that this story was going to hit like this. If you have been keeping up with the Graham family, you already know that the men in this family are unmatched. These jokers don’t play about their women- PERIOD.
This story does touch basis on mental health struggles, postpartum depression, grief, and suicidal ideation. These are some heavy situations that were executed with greatness. This storyline was way heavier than the others, in my opinion, but shows Kami’s growth as an Author. She has written this with much depth and I was in awe with this.
My girl Miyana was going through it. My heart ached so bad for her and I truly related to her in some aspects. What I loved about her character and how she was depicted was her realness. She loved a guy so hard and literally lost herself in him. I honestly think that he preyed on her insecurities but that was something I thought. She truly had a beautiful heart that was broken and crying out to be loved.
Messiah Graham. This one here was definitely Rule’s little brother. Messiah holds a special place in my heart. He was totally different than I thought he was going to be from the other books. The way he interacted and was there for Miyana was truly heart shattering. This guy took responsibility and was so loyal to being the support and motivation that Miyana and Deuce needed. He loved hard and was not scared to show how he felt.
What I loved about this was how both Messiah and Miyana was there for one another. When he was down, she pushed him and motivated him to continue on and vice versa. Their friendship was a beautiful one. Their connection was something to be desired. The mental health component of this story was important and I am glad that Kami touched on this. Those therapy sessions were needed and it made me think about how often women don’t feel as though we are enough. It doesn’t matter what someone tell you, if you don’t believe it, you wont act as such. We have to be mentally healthy so that we can love wholly to the ones around us who deserves us at our best. But we can’t get there unless we understand we deserve it first. I loved this one. Kami, sis, you outdid yourself with this one.
This story will take you on an emotional ride. Miyani is the girlfriend of Tray. She just had their son and is experiencing severe postpartum depression. Messiah is best friends with all three of them, but of course he’s closer to Tray and they are basketball teammates. I hate to say this, but honestly, Tray was upsetting me so bad in this book because he was not showing up at all for Miyani and his son. I was ready for him to make his exit . Messiah, even when tray was living, was pulling a lot of the weight for him and constantly showing up for her in ways that his own best friend wasn’t doing for his girl and their kid. I guess that is what irritated me the most, and even his mom stepped up And supported her . After Tray passes, Messiah is dealing with survivors remorse, and Miyani is struggling with her own will to live and so her and Messiah go closer as she essentially is now living with him. This story was longer than the other two but I thought that it was necessary because it was a journey for them to figure out and find their way to each other. Miyani had a lot of baggage with her and I was very frustrated with some of the actions that she did not because of what she did but because she wasn’t truthful about it and deflected things. I was judging her real hard in this book, but then I had to like take a step back and realize that she was moving in a very emotional driven way .Messiah to me was the perfect MMC and he did not play when it came to her. Once he knew she was all in he cut every other thing off. Even with her being flighty with him, he never gave up all the way they deserve their happy ending and honestly, they should’ve been together from the jump. I do wish that Tray would have lived so we could’ve seen him deal with the repercussions of his actions because there was a lot of fallout after he passed away when things were exposed and at the end of the day, Miyani definitely won.
I thought the 1st 2 books in this series were good, but this book was an emotional roller coaster ride with tears and laughs to follow!!!… I loved how Messiah did not miss a beat where Miyana and Deuce was concerned!!!!…That death scene was so real, hurtful and angered me so badly for Miyana!!!… I was hoping someone would encourage her to seek legal help because Deuce was Tray’s next of kin, not his trifling momma and for her to behave the way she did, I was waiting on Karma to knock her like it did Jamesha!!!… The blessings definitely rained down on Miyana, because she gained a family that truly loved and supported her and her baby!!!…A family that became a village for her siblings too!!… I was excited that they didn’t allow the naysayers to keep them apart because of their prior relationship with Trae!!!…I think Trae would e happy because e know the kind of man Messiah is and he knows that both of the ppl that he loved was safe and protected!!!… I can not wait to see what happens with this Graham family!!… Messiah was heaven sent because he stepped in and did what some would have ran from!!!… That conversation btwn Loyalty and Solomon was beautiful and I love that even though he didn’t know Solomon, he gave him the start of a journey for forgiveness!!!…
First off, Miyana and Messiah didn’t make a good couple because Miyana was childish, annoying and selfish. messiah should have been paired with another female character because Miyana was not it. Her insecurity chapter after chapter was a little tiring and it annoyed the life out of me.
Now on to Trey. He needs to be dug up, unalived, and then buried again because what the utter heck was he thinking? Trey was a trash can individual who I thought got off to easily for all his secrets that came out. Trey’s family was also trash can material because the way they played Miyana and Deuce. Messiah and the rest of the Graham family was the truth and Miyana and Deuce’s savior. Messiah was there for Miyana since they were kids and he had no problem stepping up to the plate when Trey old trifling ssa didn’t even bother. I commend Messiah for stepping into the role of Daddy to Deuce because any other man would have jumped ship, but Messiah stood tall and handled the daddy role with pride.
This book had me going through almost all my emotions. Messiah was a character. He kept me laughing. Messiah and Miyana’s relationship was one for the books. They had their ups and downs, and their fair share of laughs and cries. This book also touches base on suicide, child abuse and abortions.
If Kami Holt does nothing else in this series, she is going to have you in your feelings!
The characters and the situations are so relatable that find yourself feeling their pain.
At points, i found Milana to be annoying. The girl didn't know if she was coming or going and was driving poor Messiah crazy. I just didn't understand her.
Did she really show up to his birthday empty handed and was still making demands upon him? 🤦🏾♀️Spoiled!
Messiah even stated that he loved receiving gifts as much as he enjoyed giving them at no point. In this book, did Milana give/ gift him anything once she got on her feet.
But I digress. These two were the epitome of best friends to lovers' story. At times, it came off like they were closer that Messiah and Tray.
There was a lot of energy wasted on Tray's family's story only for them to just skip off into to sunset with no ramifications or Redemption for Milana. Mom's literally got the last laugh and got over on everyone. 🤷🏾♀️
There was just soo much going on here...
Genre: Urban Romance Spice Level: 🌶🌶
I said what I said and as always: don't take my word for it. Read the book, form your own opinions, and support your authors!
Another Graham man that has me in love. Messiah was so emotionally mature in this one. The way he stepped up for his 2 friends even before feelings were involved. Seeing Yaya and helping her through her pregnancy then being her rock while she went through postpartum AMAZING!
I knew Yaya would annoy me when she was mentioned in Rule’s story but her trying to push Messiah away AFTER the both expressed feelings got on my nerve! However, I liked her reasoning but I didn’t like the way she went about things. You want him to be single yet still “wait” for you and not be around other women? Make it make sense!
Tray didn’t deserve Messiah or Yaya in my opinion. The excuse of you are a product of your environment just didn’t cut it for me. He was dead ass wrong! Some of the stuff he was saying prior to his accident was immature and wrong. His lack of love and empathy just rubbed me the wrong way!
I can’t wait for the next Graham story I’m sure Loyal story will be a movie! Great Job Kami!
I liked this book, especially getting their backstory...but they were literally making me exhausted, or can I say Yana was making me exhausted with her behavior. Like I understood where she was coming from, but at one point I was like girl you are doing the most. I really liked Messiah and I enjoyed his relationship with Deuce. He was really there for her and her son, taking on the fatherly/husband position...but at the same time he was too nice for me, like I really wanted him to put his foot down sooner but I will say tthey were perfect for each other, each complimenting the other. There were somethings that I felt could have been elaborated on like yana's family...idk, I would have liked more info on that front and more interactions. I also think there were things that were random at times or unnecessary but, I do not feel that it took away from the story...just things i personally would have liked or not perferred. Overall I think it was a good read and would suggest others read as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I couldn’t wait to read Messiah and Miyana’s story ever since being introduced to them and It did not disappoint. At first Messiah and Miyana had me definitely giving them a bombastic side-eye in Made For You but by Back to Me I couldn’t help but smile and want to know more about them. One tragic incident changed their worlds forever.
You will fall in love with Messiah because through it all he was always there for Miyana. Speaking life back into her and helping her adjust her crown when she got knocked off her square. Miyana was dealt blow after blow and it was great to see her character pull through. I ain’t gon lie she gonna have you scratching your head a couple times because of her decision making. But you will be enthralled in her journey as she navigates life from grief and love.
Messiah & Miyani… what a story! Both grieving a loss of someone they grew up with and loved deeply lean on one another during this horrific time. During this time, seeing one another at their lowest they establish a bond… deeper than friendship and begin to love one another on a deeper level. Despite what others may think of their unconventional way of getting together… the heart wants what it wants. This story was emotional. Grief is nonlinear & everyone grieves differently. Miyani wasn’t dealt the best hand from childhood and still went through turmoil as an adult. It was warming to see her be consistent with therapy & begin to heal. Messiah loved Miyani in spite of but I was SO ecstatic when he laid down the law and didn’t budge from Miyani knowing that she had to choose him for once! You nurture me. I nurture you.
Grief don’t just disappear, it shifts into a different kind of love—and that’s exactly what this story showed. The romance was there, but it was giving too predictable at times. Miyana went through betrayal on a level that’ll cut you deep, and half the time she was her own worst enemy with all that self-sabotage.
Messiah? Whew. He was in the thick of it—pain, trauma, Yaya with her suicide attempts, grief—you name it, he carried it. I was waiting on that jaw-dropping twist, but even without it, the story still flowed. The real gem was seeing Messiah come out on top. That man healed heavy wounds, and the strength he walked away with? Unmatched. That’s the type of resilience you can’t help but respect.
Don’t Make Me Wait is the third book by this author surrounding the Graham family and I must say each book is better than the last.
Messiah & Miyana, I don’t know how to begin to unpack their layered relationship. It’s intense and yet fragile at the same time. There were moments where I wanted them to move on from each other romantically before grief and trauma destroyed them. Man, this author had me praying for these characters!!! Whew!
I have fallen in love with all them Grahams and the people they love. I look forward to future stories featuring them. I need Loyal’s story now!!
“Don’t Make Me Wait” is anything but your typical love story, and that’s what makes it so captivating. The unconventional narrative drew me in from the start, pulling on my heartstrings in ways I didn’t expect. The complexity of the relationships and the depth of the characters kept me hooked.
I absolutely adore the Graham family—they add a unique dynamic to the story that makes it even more special. The journey this book takes you on is emotional and heartfelt, leaving you eager to see what happens next. I’m already diving into book 3, excited to see where this unconventional love story goes next!
