Elsie Hargrove expected drama when she agreed to be a model in Fleming’s prestigious Designer Showcase, but not murder. When rising star Lucy Reeves is found strangled with a vintage scarf moments before being crowned winner, Elsie must navigate the cutthroat world of high fashion to catch a killer.
Between feuding designers, a ruthless fast-fashion mogul, and a venomous fashion critic with old scores to settle, suspects abound. Working alongside Detective Jack Goodman—whose wife’s mysterious return to town complicates both the case and their growing attraction—Elsie discovers that in fashion, old grudges never go out of style.
As death threats circulate like this season’s must-have accessories, Elsie realizes she’s racing against time. With her knowledge of both crime and couture, Elsie must catch a murderer before they unveil their deadliest design yet. In this world of sequins and secrets, even investigating in style might not be enough to keep her alive.
I liked this far more than I expected to. Which is strange because I really liked the first two books in the series. Anyway, the main characters are interesting, fully three dimensional, and vivid. The plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding out who killed the winner of the four designers competing and why. I had no clue who the killer was, till it was revealed. I most assuredly recommend this book.
