No sooner has Belldandy's bored big sister Urd descended than she tries to alleviate her boredom by shoving Bell and Keiichi together, preferably by wicked spells and sorcery gone horribly wrong. Of course, good intentions from Belldandy don't necessarily lead to better results, as she creates a simple scheme to help him study for an exam that involves setting loose on campus a dim-witted, cross-dressing clone of Keiichi! Then, a Nekomi Motor Club recruitment drive nets him the unwelcome figure of a would-be romantic rival - and not from the usual pack of greasy anthropoids Keiichi hangs out with. This guy drives a Ferrari!

Now there are two goddesses!

BELLDANDY & URD

Keiichi Morisato thought that his life was already way weird having a real goddess living with him, but in the previous volume, Leader of the Pack, Belldandy's sister come to live with them too.

Now, with Urd on the scene, the stories in Oh My Goddess! get better.

Certainly, Belldandy is the greatest character in the series, but the support in the development in the stories by Urd is priceless and key to the fun and excitement.

Specially since Urd thinks that Keiichi is taking too dang long time to express his true feelings to Belldandy, so it's up to Urd to spice the things at Morisato's residence!

AND WITH THIS RING...

Don't get shocked!

Urd is good in her efforts to improve the romance between Keiichi and Belldandy but it's not that kind of ring...

...yet.

Howeve, Christmas is just around the corner and Keiichi wants to give Belldandy something real special...

...however the ring is also real expensive...

...so Keiichi will have to take as much partial-time jobs as possible to reunite the needed money for the Xmas' gift.

This is one of the coolest and more romantic stories in all Oh My Goddess! development, a tale that come to be commented several times in future stories, and even the crucial moment for the plot in the Oh My Goddess! prose novel, and obviously was adapted in the original OVA miniseries.

SCHOOL LIFE

In this volume, Keiichi's life at school and her personal one collide!

Belldandy and Urd got into a beauty contest at Nekomi Tech and you can bet that Sayoko, "resident queen" in the university, isn't any thrilled to have such strong competition!

Also, Keiichi's pals at the Nekomi Tech Motor Club will crash New Year's eve party and if that wouldn't be mayhem enough...

...how about Urd's intervention as party's soul?!

Romance, humor and magic! Things in Oh My Goddess! are anything but boring!

Another biased review.

World: The art is further developing and Belldandy and Urd have normal looking eyes now, it's great! The world building is once again just enough to support the tale of the chapter. Solid.

Story: Good slice of life with races and school exams, quiet wholesome charming good fun. The slow development of Keiichi and Belldandy is something I enjoy.

Characters: Small little developments in the characters make it something to savor. Keiichi is learning to talk to Bell and Bell is learning more and more to be a human, it's great. The rest of the cast are hilarious with Aoshima being the one that made me laugh the hardest this book.

Small little solid stories.

Onward to the next book!

Urd continue to wreck havoc and makes life difficult for both her sister and Keiichi. Fun story to say the least and the drawing is top notch.

How not to pick up girls

Another fun day to day outing with Keiichi, the divine sisters, and all of the members of the university he attends. With a winning raffle Keiichi takes Belldandy out to eat at a nice place. However Sayoko and Urd both know and the both of them want to cause trouble as they see fit. Eventually what was a potentially nice dinner turns out to become a food fight like none other.

With New Year in full swing Keiichi's little sister Megumi has shown up along side some of the guys from the club, Sayoko, and Satoko. Urd decides to have a little fun with a game that can tell the future and invites the others to join her resulting in a variety of mishaps and victories along the way. The best of victory being Keiichi getting a very welcomed kiss from Belldandy to help warm his lips. :)

The final exams are coming up and Keiichi wants to study for them but his friends want to party to cheer him up no matter how distracting they become. Belldandy has an idea to create a duplicate of him to take the bullying of his sempais so he can study but is instead dragged into all new trouble. It makes me wonder if the force of the wish granting system is still down as Urd lays claim to one of the Keiichis herself.

A new student has arrived at the school who turns out to be Sayoko's cousin. Unfortunately he is as bad as she is when it comes to crushing people that try to interfere with their conquests and yet he is worse in certain cases (such as trying to force Belldandy after tricking her into a love motel.) However like Keiichi rejecting Sayoko Belldandy does a splendid job casting him away too. Shame it seems to make that family all the more aggressive.

Now Aoshima (Sayoko's cousin) is obsessed with conquering Belldandy not only due to her rejection but because the way she rejected him made no sense. Wanting to know more about her mysterious adversary for Keiichi, Sayoko joins him in gathering whatever info they can including a moment of videotaping her in the bath.

Then it is race time once more as the club sinks their whole budget for a chance to win the prize. With a little divine skill, a little bit of advise, and a little luck Belldandy and Keiichi must win against professional racers while keeping track of the rally points they need to win. It really shows how much Kosuke Fujishima loves vehicles as he draws them incredibly realistically which is even more noticeable by the very animated characters that inhabit his world. :)

I don't like reviewing a series in chunks. A story is mostly only interesting once you've pieced together beginning, middle and end. However, when there's 40 volumes and counting it's difficult to know whether you'll actually make it to the end - I suspect in this case I won't so I figured I'd comment sporadically when I feel like it and this volume is perhaps where I've started to feel this series "has something" which makes it a cut above the norm, though I'm still a little unsure as to what. Definitely the comedy is better now. Urd's board game (in "Life's Just a Game of 'Sugoroku Roulette") had me laughing out loud for perhaps the first time - it's just a random game where people have to do whatever square they land on and Urd insists that no matter what it is, it shall come to pass. of course, it does and she's manipulating things.. In "The Final Exam" Keiichi wnats to study but the motor gang want to party, so Belldandy errrr creates a clone of him as a distraction, which then gets mixed up and tries to take the exam. In "Winner Takes All" for the first time we get an extended motor race full of rivalry and shenanigans that works to create both tension and comedy.

My initial "issues" with this series were that Keiichi is perhaps a bit flat and Belldandy flatter; that there's no real tension between the two characters that would create an effective romcom barring the peculiarity of the situation (which, in and of itself, is otherwise excellent). My reservations are slipping away with this volume since, although Belldandy is still simply overly-nice, recurring characters such as Urd and Sakura are providing the tension instead. Although Keiichi is a little plain this provides potential fodder for him to get caught up in situations as the good guy.

If this standard continues then Oh My Goddess could be a winner. I'm certainly glad I've stuck with it this far.

In this manga, the antics get upped and the cheesiness gets toned down a little nit in regards to Keiichi being obsessed with his and Belldandy's relationship regarding the physical. In this one, he actually starts thinking about what would make Belldandy happy in their relationship. And, of course, Urd tries to help things along and just manages to make a mess of things.

As mentioned in reviews of prior volumes, the drawing quality continues to steadily improve.

I think I'm going to have to improve my Japanese a little more before I can continue reading this, I did enjoy what I could understand, however, and I'm really liking Urd.

The adventures continue. I still hate Urd’s name but she is also my favorite character. Sayako’s cousin is new. You know her right? The non goddess woman that is also an antagonist. Well she has a male cousin that wants Belldandy for himself so comic hilarity ensues.

5 stars. Keep reading this series.

I didn't like the second half or so of this one as much with all of the racing stuff (the motor club really doesn't interest me at all), but it still gets four stars for the rest. The transvestite Keiichi clone totally made me laugh. "Exam... exam..." Haha.
