I'm giving this book a 2.25 star rating. It appears the balance of Ariane's life depends on what happens to Miss Caroline. I would hate to lose that amazing character. She became the life of this story. If Miss Caroline dies then Ariane is required to pay back rent that she wasn't paying those years of renting the place. Once that happens she might lose everything she has worked for and she would have to rely on Peter. She will be at his mercy like he wanted from the beginning. Peter's mind has become more twisted as the story progresses. But once Ariane is hurt by his actions he wants to stop his destructive ways and change. However, he continues to find small ways to control her. Is he truly going to realize what he has got until it's gone?
The plot of this story has brought in more men as potentials for Ariane. Maybe too many. And there are no rhyme or reason to these introductions. Also, the men in Ariane's life seem to change their characters. Patrick starts to get nasty and possessive. That's not the man we were introduced to; he is not the man that Miss Caroline said that wasn't even competition for Peter. That's because he has become just like Peter. What is it about Ariane that makes men go literally crazy or does she just choose crazy men?
It looks like Ariane's life is going down the toilet...and so is this story. This book is still an easy read, but it's not worth it at this point. I do have the last book so I will trudge on.
This one just gets more interesting with her emotions still not sure and facing Peter and the sexy French baker with her in Paris is a big one, it seems in this one as well there is a lot of emotions coming in and out and no decision being made at all I hope in the final there is because I have in mind who might choose but as usual an author can surprise you with their chose for their main female
I think this book was better than the last because it added intrigue to the different love interests Ariane had and tested her bond with Peter. In this book Ariane builds up a little more confidence in herself, her decisions and faces some losses as well.
There are some matters that get some development like Martinique's character, but sadly it doesn't get any depth nor is written about later on.
Not a HEA but an introduction to the series so be sure to have the other books available so you can jump right in.
Unfortunately this is where I felt the story went a little downhill for me. I did not enjoy where the relationship between Ariane and Peter went and after two other stories that built their relationship up, I didn't like how Peter's character fleshed out. But since I didn't want to leave the story unfinished, I continued.
Well, the author certainly put a bit of a twist in there. Things between Ariane and Peter aren't going as I originally thought they were, but I am looking forward to seeing how everything turns out. Getting stuck into book four straight away. I need to know what happens.
So many things happened that I did not expect! The whole Peter thing was sightly expected but didn't turn out how I thought it would. Can't wait to finish this series!!
I really enjoyed the first two books, however the third book left me a bit confused. I felt the sudden change of Peter's character was undeveloped and did not make sense.
