Targeted
By Riley McKissack
Mick is deep undercover and never expects to see Becca, his high school sweetheart during the mission. Mick seems like all cop. He wants to do everything he can to protect his country and the woman he loves, even if it’s from himself. He’s also unflinchingly loyal. All of these are great qualities but can cause issues with an independent woman like Becca.
She’s feisty and not ready to back down from danger. She’s the kind of woman I would like to think I’d be if I was in danger. She stands toe to toe with Mick and even saves his butt a few times. She’s a perfect complement to his tough as nails personality. She softens him and makes him more approachable.
The suspense in this story kept me guessing. Ms. McKissack has tied her fictional story into some very believable scenarios from history such as the Oklahoma Bombing and the White Supremacist Movement. The bad guys seem evident but the corruption goes much deeper than the reader thinks and keeps you on the edge of your seat. She also sets up her story for the perfect sequel as we get to meet some amazing men and women who work in law enforcement. Fans of romantic suspense and strong storylines will love Targeted!

I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Becca is the adult daughter of the county judge and a school teacher. One night while walking her dog she is kidnapped by a van full of escaped convicts from the state prison. Mick is an undercover FBI agent that was planted in the state prison to infiltrate a home grown terrorist group that has ties to the outside that intel shows they are planning a bombing to start a rebellion against the US government. Mick and Becca have a history, he was the man she was going to marry and live happily ever after until one night on a bust gone bad he was shot and his police partner was killed, her twin sister.

Meh! Just another long-winded story with way too much repetition. If all the repetitive thoughts inside the main character's head were removed it would barely make a novella. And what's with the fade to black love scene? It's supposed to be a romantic suspense. It read like milk toast. The main character is supposed to be a smart undercover FBI agent and he comes off acting really dense at times. As a reader, I was unable to connect with any of the characters in this story. I'm not very smart, but I couldn't dumb myself down to their level.

Targeted to Kill was a very believable tale.

Riley McKissack weaves a great story with a believable cast of characters. Riley makes the most of Bad things that happen in today's world. If you love edge of your seat action and a mystery that will keep you guessing, get this book. You won't believe who turns out to be one of the scum of the universe.

Very suspenseful and exciting book with a conspiracy feel.

In Targeted to Kill you meet a young bright teacher who was the love and drive to help others. Although her past is littered with pain, loss, and hopelessness, she remains strong and fights thru everyday. That is until she is kidnapped as a way to get back at her father the Judge. At least that is what they believe. Things only get more exciting from there. As the story line developed there are more red flags along the way leading you to believe that is was all a conspiracy and less of a small town criminal kidnaping.

The characters are very interesting and I would have loved a little more insight into the support characters minds. Over all I was very drawn in and could not wait to see what would happen next!

Well i made it through chapter seven which is the best I've done thus far today but this book was ridiculously ott. Every time the hero mentioned how much he loved his job all i could think about was "murica fuck yeah". Every piece of dialogue was ridiculous even the inner kind. But at least this terrible run of books has caused me to be a little more discerning with what i l had left on my nook, unfortunately this one made the cut but now i have only seven un read books in my possession and after reading them (or quitting them) i can finally start buying books again

This was alright. I never really got into it. There weren't any moments that had my heart pounding. Also the build up for the love scene and it was a complete let down. A fade to black moment. It was weird because I expected Mick to be all bad ass and he wasn't. Not sure if I will read the rest of the series.

Very interesting and heart warming. Couldn't put it down. All law enforcement isn't corrupt. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Great story

This story is the culmination of good rising above evil. Becca has lost so much in such a short period. Her sister Tess was killed while on the job and the love of her life Mick left her. Mick blamed himself day after day for not saving his partner and for hurting Becca. He couldn't even think of looking Becca in the face after what happened on his watch. When Mick is given an undercover assignment he never thinks the assignment with bring him back to Becca. Becca is shocked when she's kidnapped and even more so when she hears Mick in the vehicle. Mick knows he has to get Becca out of danger but his every option is shot down by Becca. Will they be able to escape and find their love once again?

Mick has been undercover for months trying to stop the drug runners who killed his partner and his girlfriends twin. He walks away from Becca over the quilt he feels about her sisters death. It has been two years since he has seen Becca and now she and her father have fallen right in the middle of his undercover op. Can Becca convince him that Her sisters death was not his fault and can he save her and her father.

Great read

Brought into play every emotion you could imagine! And also romance. Good versus evil, suspense, and the mystery of exactly who the “bad guys” were.

Good read

I got this as a free kindle book and don't regret it at all. Lots of action and some romance. I look forward to the next. Some phrases were used a little too many times is my reason for 4 stars.
