Paula Danziger was an American children's author. She wrote more than 30 books, including her 1974 debut The Cat Ate My Gymsuit, for children's and young adult audiences. At the time of her death, all her books were still in print; they had been published in 53 countries and translated into 14 languages.

I am reading these books with my kids at bedtime. We are really enjoying them. They remind me of the Judy Moody series. Funny, but also realistic as Amber encounters so many real life situations like divorce, friends moving away, maturation etc. On the flip side, I am having to discuss a few of these issues with a 7-year old since she is reading at this level.
