"An Introduction to Pastels" is a wonderful resource for anyone wishing to work with pastels. Michael Wright provides information on pastels in general, a brief history, and then the rest of the book is dedicated to materials and techniques.

I liked the examples and the writing was pretty clear, but it's really short and really basic.
