"Discovering Missions" is an EXCELLENT book on Missions. Gailey and Culbertson progress through the book providing a biblical and theological basis for missions, a brief history of missions, the current state of Christian missions, the vision we should have for missions, practical ways to do missions well, and what the future looks like for missions. Their words are convicting, practical, and calls us to find where God is calling us to participate in the Great Commission!

I would recommend to myself (and others) to re-read all or parts of this book before engaging in any cross-cultural work in the future, whether short term or long term.

It's a great introduction to missions book. It introduces important terms, concepts, and issues in the field. It doesn't dive too deep into any of them (which is fine, because it's an introductory text book).

It took me a chapter or two to get into it but this is very instrumental in understanding missions, the call to mission work, the joys and sorrow and how we are all called to serve, e en if not on the mission field itself.
For me, it was life changing.

Incredible book for beginners . I don't think it's very detailed but it's chalk full of information for those who have never delved into the world of Christian Mission . It's an easy read and one of those wonderful books where you don't have to read every chapter , so it's a great reference tool .
And this is completely pointless , but I love the cover .

Does a good job of relating the concept of cross cultural missions to those whose mission keeps them within their own culture.
