I have absolutely loved this series so far. I've managed to read 1.5 books a week, and was feeling quite disillusioned after reading a few bad books in a row.
Karin Slaughter has found a new convert here, a mad Jack Reacher & Mitch Rapp fan, Will Trent it is... He's completely different from the other guys, but she writes so well that you're completely drawn in...
I bought this bundle as the price for 7 books was so good it was hard to pass up. It ended up being even more awesome because it included the seven books, two short stories and an excerpt from her novel, Cop Town.
I discovered Karin Slaughter after watching the TV series Will Trent and noticing it was based on her book series. I researched and decided I liked what I found. I purchased this bundle and my journey began. There is a difference between the books and the TV series but that is to be expected. I am not going to detail those differences here as each person should read these books and develop their own opinion. For me reading the books did not turn me off the TV show as I was able to binge watch the entire first season while reading the books.
I am not going to attempt to review each individual book here. I will say I am glad to have discovered Karin Slaughter. She is an awesome writer in my opinion. She tells a story in such a way that you develop a feeling for the characters. Some you will despise almost immediately and others you will like/love. Some you will develop a different opinion as the story evolves.
As I write this, I have already started book #8. I would highly recommend this author to anyone looking to read some great suspense/thriller books.
The Will Trent books are easily some of my favourite crime reads. Slaughter creates a gripping story every time, with the books getting stronger as you move through the series (I admit, in the first book I wasn’t overly bothered by Will Trent but he grew on me and in no time at all he had earned a spot as one of my favourite fictional police officers).
Each story is wonderful, and I believe every crime fan should pick up the Will Trent books.
I was introduced to the Georga Bureau Investigation inthe the first series I read featuring Jeffrey Toliver and Sarah Linton. I thought this series was even better. I like the growth of each character as the series progressed. Of course Will Trent is my favorite. Karin Slaughter created his character just perfectly. He is smart, strong gets the bad guys but at the same time is vulnerable and so lovable. A must read for those who like a good mystery/detective story.
I have devoured every Grant County series and every Will Trent book. Karin Slaughter is a Goddess of Crime novels. I LOVED every book and am mad for Will and Sarah...AND Faith and Amanda, and Jeffrey and love hat Lena. Sigh. It's been an amazing month or two of binging everything Ms. Slaughter has written. Where do I go from here?
Will Trent is the Most interesting character I have come across lately, and I love the interactions with the strong women portrayed in the series. The underlying police action is just the icing on the cake
I read this series because of watching the Will Trent TV series. The books start out similar to the series, but the character development and story lines diverge quite a bit from the TV series. Overall, the stories are engaging, but after reading 7 books in a setting, they are a bit repetitive.
At times so depressing, other times just a bit better. But you keep needing to read the series even when your brain says “NO MORE “. I do like Will, he is coming along very nicely.
I stay up too late reading every story she has to tell. Steven King wrote in one of his novels: it's not the teller it's the tale. I think that is her gift to all. Tales that are so close to our personal lives, so much to remember and learn. The highest praise I know how to offer. Worthy tale, ma'am, Worthy tale.
This was a great read. I really loved the series and this book was a great addition to it. I LOVED it. It had me interested from start to finish. Great plot, great character building, great characters and well written.
I am SO glad that I found Karin Slaughter and this series on Goodreads. I had stopped reading for approximately 20 years and just avidly started back 6 months ago. I read her standalone novel Pretty Girls first, and loved it. It was through that review page that I found she had written many more books but they were in a series and I'd never read a series like that! I've now read ALL of Slaughter's books (I might have done it backwards but I got it done). I started with the Will Trent series and read them all in order up to The Kept Woman-this series was a treat to me! I literally couldn't put any of her books down. Just recently I was going through Slaughter withdrawals and decided to read the Grant County series. I have just finished that up. I'd recommend any and all of her books to anyone that likes mystery/thrillers,gore,taboo crimes, and just a good solid read from beginning to end. Oh yeah,if you happen to be an Auburn University fan, like me (WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!)she references it many times throughout both series. I'd love to ask Ms Slaughter why she chose Auburn to write about...? I'm looking forward to her future books, especially the ones in the Will Trent series-they're just excellent! I would suggest to any newcomers to Slaughter's books that they read them in order...Grant County first, leading up to the Will Trent series. Trust me,it makes things a lot easier and better if you know the back story that leads to the popular Trent series. Thank you Karin for giving me back my joy of reading....you are a HUGE part of that!
