At the intersection of the fight to end human trafficking and a love of baseball stands one man . . . For Ethan Bryan, an early morning dream became an invitation into a world-record-setting-coast-to-coast-catch-playing adventure of faith, new friends, serendipitous stories, and raising money to fight human trafficking. A portion of the proceeds from this book will go to Not For Sale.
I don't know or care much about sports. My baseball "schema" was built, primarily, on watching Angels in the Outfield and Summer Catch. Needless to say, sports books aren't really my metaphorical jam. But: I found this book about baseball to be captivating. The author pursues a wild passion of making friends, playing catch, pursuing faith, and fighting human trafficking. There's a beautiful meeting of faith, fun, and social activism to found throughout "Catch and Release."
So even though I've never been one to read sports books, I've never been one to watch sports... matches(?) games(?), and I've certainly never been one to willingly play a sport...
This book made me think: "Yeah, I'd kind of like to play some catch."
