This was so not a typical, SD, we had a heroine with a truckload of issues she knew she had, confident about herself and her sexuality and she seemed more alpha than the hero. The hero could be a jerk at first but overall he was a nice guy. They both have a one night stand and then it turns out the heroine has been hired by the hero's family for improving his job. Something he doesn't like that fact, the heroine though shocked at first about their past, takes it in her stride. Loved seeing the role reversal.

This novel was definitely a bit creepy and weird but I really enjoyed it for the most part. I was pretty pissed about the ending. These newer harlequins have shitty endings where you don't find out about anyones future. Ugh.

Good book. It starts out with Rob getting talked into going out on New Year's Eve with a woman he'd been casually dating, and who ended up leaving with someone else. He wasn't in a great mood anyway. As marketing director for the family business he had just found out that an outside consultant had been hired to come in and make changes. When he's approached by a gorgeous woman he decides to stick around a little while and ends up sleeping with her. He was not too happy to find out later that she was the new consultant. I liked both Rob and Carrie but they certainly had some issues to deal with.

Carrie was a strong, independent career woman. After one bad experience she has made it a rule to not get personally involved with any of her clients. When she finds out her New Year's fling is Rob Caroselli she is not happy. When he tries to convince her, then intimidate her, into not taking the job she stands up to him. She makes it clear to him that it won't happen again. At this point she doesn't like him very much but is still incredibly attracted to him. She blames it on the fact that she always seems to go for the jerks in relationships. But as the days go on she discovers that he's not the jerk she thought he was, and that he's actually pretty darn nice. She also found herself giving in to the attraction as she and Rob work together during the day and explore their growing feelings after work hours. I also liked the way that she enjoyed getting to know the other members of the family. It gave her a taste of something she had not been a part of before. I also liked her friendship with Alice and how they were there for each other.

Rob definitely started out looking like a jerk. Between his sneaking out on Carrie without so much as a note, then his attitude when he saw her again, I wasn't sure I was going to like him much. But after that first bump, especially when we find out why he's been so grouchy, his attitude definitely improves. He still is attracted to Carrie, but he's willing to try to play by her rules. When they finally decide to quit fighting the attraction he treats her pretty well. I like the way he admits to his growing feelings for her and starts thinking about a future with her. I loved his two conversations with Nick (from Caroselli's Christmas Baby) at the end.

There is also a secondary story dealing with a possible ghost in the house where Carrie was living that has not been resolved. I hope there's more about it in the next book.

This was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile. The conversations between Carrie, and Rob, kept me laughing. Carrie’s first day at work at her new job was priceless… I wouldn’t think so, if it had happened to me, but it did make for a funny story. Carrie was also very brave! If I had rented a house with a ghost, I would be looking for another apartment. I sure wouldn’t be staying in the apartment with the ghost.

Sample from chapter 3
“well” She said, the sweet smile not wavering a fraction. “Who better to do it than the director himself? Which reminds me, I’ll need you available, and at my disposal at all times in case I have any questions.” Gritting his teeth, he nodded, then turned and walked to the door. “Hey Robby?” Jaw tense, he turned back to her. “I’m not the enemy. This will be as productive or as difficult as you make it. I think you’ll find that I can be very pleasant to work with. “So I noticed,” He said, his eyes raking over her. “Will we be meeting for a quickie in my office daily, or just once or twice a week?” He didn’t even like her, but his libido didn’t seem to notice or care. It was telling him to rip that shapeless, ugly suit from her body, to pluck the pins from her granny hairstyle so he could watch her silky blond curls cascade down her shoulders. She sighed and shook her head, as if she felt sorry for him. “Robby, is that the best you can do? During the course of my career I’ve been called sweetie and sugar, and pumpkin. I’ve been groped and fondled, objectified and demoralized. I’ve seen it all, and in the end I always get the job done, and I manage to do it with dignity.” She slung her case strap over her shoulder and said, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. If you think you’d like to take me on, by all means give it your best shot. But I should warn you, I always get what I want, and I’m not above fighting dirty.”

This is the second part of the Caroselli saga. You can't help but fall in love with the family. [SPOILER] I loved that Nick was also a part of this story in the end. I hope this will continue to be the case in the next part of this series. It keeps me coming back. Good thinking Michelle Celmer.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series although it was completely ridiculous. This one was equally ridiculous but it made for good rainy day reading. Plus who doesn't love a hero involved with chocolate?

Rob is having a terrible run of things. His family has no faith in him as marketing director so they hire someone to come in and fix his department. He gets deliciously tipsy and sleeps with a pretty girl at the bar. Unknowingly, he's bedded the one whose overhauling his company. Both of them try to be professional but there is a great deal of sexual attraction between them to fight. Once Caroline questions if she's pregnant things change and Rob wonders if he even wants the Caroselli inheritance.

The whole concept of the inheritance is a bit silly. Their grandfather offers the three boys the opportunity to get anywhere from 10-15-30 million depending how many people ask for the money at the end of the year. The only rule is to marry and begin working on a male heir. The first hero didn't want the money once he fell in love with his best friend and the grandfather hoped they all would all shoot it down in the end.

I had some problems with this book. Caroline is a bit of a split personality. She's into the romance and the sex for the majority of the book but once she thinks she's pregnant everything changes. All of the sudden she's commitment-phobic and absolutely ridiculous. I hate it when heroine's do weird things towards the end of the book. The hero is suddenly ready for commitment and she freaks out. It just seems...weird.

I also had issues with the random model friend. She was completely unnecessary to the plot. I have this issue with books always assuming every woman has a close friend. Some women go years without a good friendship and make do with acquaintance relationships. I just find this weird necessity to be unnecessary. Trust me, I can accept people without a lot of friends. That happens in real life.

While I had those issues, I had fun reading the book. I loved the added bit about the ghost because I'm still jonesing for the Inn BoonsBoro series. I have a think for a bit of the otherworldly in the real world when it doesn't create some sort of horribly complex situation.

I also love getting to see the hero and heroine from the previous book. I always like seeing where people ended up after the whirlwind marriage. Plus she was pregnant and everyone knows I have a thing for pregnancy stories.

I would recommend this book as a quick, fun read perfect for rainy days.

Caroselli’s Baby Chase by Michelle Celmer is a fun, hot and sexy read that will keep you turning the page till the very end.

Robert Caroselli didn’t want to go out on New Year’s Eve. He wanted to stay home and go to sleep, but the woman he was dating insisted that they go out to a bar. Only now she has left in the arm of another man and left him by himself, not that he minds. He wants time to himself after his family told him that they were bringing an marketing consultant to help him for they don’t believe that he is capable in his job.

Caroline Taylor is in Chicago for three months to help Caroselli Chocolates. For now she just wants to have a drink at the bar before she has to show up for a meeting with the board of directors to see if they will indeed hire her. But there is not room to sit in the bar and the only place available is at a table with a man. Read More...

A fairly enjoyable read with pretty likeable characters and not too much needless angsty drama. This ending/wrap up was a bit rushed and it felt like the characters had worked out their issues a bit too soon and the "I love you" portion of the book lacked punch. Nevertheless, this held my interest.

I would have rated the book higher, but I hated the ending. It was like ::snap:: and it was over. I like a HEA as much as the next person but it works best when it happens in a few more pages. Would it have killed for an epilogue?

Caroline or Carrie and Rob made a very good couple. Add in the extra paranormal activity and a best friend crashing on your couch and you have an excellent story.
