Jade is on the run. She gave up her veterinary practice and life as she knows it to keep away from her abusive ex-boyfriend. She lands in a small town, and takes a job working in a coffee shop and helping at a vets office. She tries to not make friends because she knows as soon as she has enough money she needs to move again. But when she meets Wade, he comes to the vets office after hours because his dog is hurt, things start to change.
Wade wants nothing more then to get to know Jade better, but how she acts he knows she is running from something. After finding a empty bottle of whiskey on her porch, Jade knows her times up. She opens up to Wade telling him her story. Wade wants to protect her, something about Jade makes him feel alive again. But when Jade ends up missing and her dog shot, Wade will do what it takes to find her. But will it be enough???

This is a short, but wonderful read. I look forward to reading more by this author.
