By the author of USA TODAY bestseller THREE RIVER RANCH
The power might be out...but the heat is on. Will this felon burn him?
Every Christmas, free-spirited Frankie Sylva banishes her holiday loneliness with good deeds. This time, she's rescuing a truckload of neglected reindeer--until a blizzard sidetracks her scheme, and now she's stuck...literally.
Local sheriff Red LeClair is shocked to find a very cute, half-frozen woman trespassing on Three River Ranch in a ditched rig, with a suspiciously empty trailer. Is she a horse thief? Is she on the run? Is she out of her mind? He has no choice but to take her back to the ranch and keep an eye on her.
But when the power goes out, Red and Frankie are forced to depend on each other in a way that both have avoided for years. The sheriff's quiet holiday is suddenly a crackling fire, candles, carols, and an irresistible stranger...who might be a felon.

USA TODAY bestselling author Roxanne Snopek writes contemporary romance both sexy and sweet, in small towns, big cities, on secluded islands and sun-drenched beaches, with families and communities that will warm your heart. Her fictional heroes (like her own real-life hero) are swoon-worthy, uber-responsible, secretly vulnerable and occasionally dough-headed, but animals love them, which makes everything okay.
Avid gardener, soup-maker and bread-eater, Roxanne writes from British Columbia, Canada, surrounded by dogs, cats, deer, squirrels and occasionally bear and bobcat. When she thinks of it, she does yoga and cleans the house. Well, not that last thing.
I wanted to read this book because of the heroine. Who wouldn't like someone who rescued animals? I won't turned down a cabin romance with a hunky sheriff either.
The problem is I got a lot of telling instead of showing in this book and much of the telling was redundant.
This line of books (Entangled Bliss) is low on steam and I am good with that. However, the books have a tendency to be low on passion and emotion between the leads as well. We spend a great deal of time in each characters heads and therefore the wonderful space between them never really builds.
Sadly, this tendency happened in this novella as well.'
I was given this book for my honest review. So, there you have it.
Fun, quick, holiday romance. I haven't read the rest of the series and had no problem jumping in on this one. I just happened to pick this up when I was looking for holiday romances and it was free, so I grabbed it. Definitely worth it but I'm on the fence about reading the rest of the series. It was cute but it doesn't have me begging for more from the rest of the characters. Still, a nice little read if you're on the lookout for holiday romances. Also, a pretty clean romance if you don't want something with the steamy bits.
YES! +Frankie is rescuing reindeer! Well, they're elk being used as reindeer. She also is kinda committing grand theft auto... +Red attempts to bring her in for question, but they're caught in the blizzard. And stranded together is my second favorite romance trope.
Oh my gosh. So cute. Like, seriously, so flipping cute! Saving the Sheriff... total warm Christmas fuzzies. Yall!
The Gist: Sometimes a girl has to kidnap a herd of reindeer while dressed as an elf. And sometimes the Universe has a merry laugh and she winds up in a snowbank and being rescued by the town's sheriff who's name is Rudolph. Yeah. Red and Frankie. They were great. They've both found themselves lonely and family-less during the holidays. And so in need of each other it was ridiculous. I loved them as a couple. He needed her light sunshiney personality to help bring him out of his grumpy darkness after a divorce and she needed someone who just cared for and about her without stipulations. Someone solid by her side. I loved watching them both open up and find a little healing and comfort with each other. They just made me smile as they faced off early on and wore each other down. They just had some fun interactions.
And the set up. I'm a total sucker for a "snowed in" romance and, gah, yes, it worked for me. Trapped by a blizzard on a mustang sanctuary he's baby sitting for the holidays and nothing but time, each other and a herd of animals to care for. I loved them working together, talking, having a little fun which they both sorely needed.
All in all, Saving the Sheriff was full of wintry Christmas magic. Sweet, charming and a romance that'll leave a girl smiling. Nicely done!
Frankie Sylva, teacher, volunteer, animal lover, Christmas Elf, is in a rescue attempt way out her comfort zone. It started simply enough, but karma and the weather have done her in. She is stuck in a freezing snow storm, her vehicle is off the road and she's in a flimsy elf costume! Plus, it's Christmas Eve!
Sheriff Red LeClair is spending the Christmas holidays at his friends Carson and Rory Granger's property, Three River Ranch. He is feeding the livestock and horses while they are in Hawaii. Red is actually looking forward to spending the holiday watching action films, eating, drinking and trying to forget his miserable divorced existence. He didn't count on a blizzard moving in. He has just finished piling up extra hay for the horses in case he can't get back for a couple days and spots a vehicle off the road in a ditch. His lawman instincts are immediately at the ready. He stops to inquire and is faced with an......Elf! There is a lengthy discussion between Frankie and Red and the word "arrested" comes up a couple times. She finally agrees to accompany him back to the ranch house because spending the night in the middle of a blizzard in a truck in an elf costume is a little frightening. Going to a strange house with a man who says he is a sheriff is a little risky also, but better than freezing to death.
I so enjoyed this book. I love Christmas stories and this one is definitely worth a second (or third) read. The characters are very real, plus being stuck in a farm house in the middle of nowhere with a handsome sheriff sounds like a Christmas Eve to remember. I highly recommend it!
I received this book from the publisher and author for an honest review. Pat Fordyce
Frankie Sylva is all about good deeds yet her latest one seems to have gotten her into a little bit of trouble, both with the law and the weather. When she got the idea to rescue some reindeer, she had no idea that she would get stuck in the blizzard. Running into Red LeClair the local sheriff was not part of her plan at all. Red LeClair was hoping for a quiet festive season but when he runs into Frankie, he gets the feeling that his plans are going to go straight into a ditch, similar to the one where he found Frankie in. Being a law enforcement officer he immediately knows that something isn't right although unless Frankie comes clean about what she was doing then Red will have guess and that would not be good for her either. It doesn't take long before the weather turns bad and they are forced to spend time in each others company. With only them and the small space, they are soon overwhelmed by each other and boy do they have passion! If only things were simple, as at the end of the day Red is still a sheriff and Frankie has committed a crime. Although, maybe this festive season with change both of their minds when it comes to right and wrong, and maybe love as well. Saving The Sheriff is a sweet yet passionate novel that you can read on a cold winter's night in one go. With it's sweet female character, hot yet law abiding male character and some reindeer that makes this Christmas story even more true and memorable, it is everything you want in a book and more! Three Words Festive, Sexy and Sizzling.
3.5 Star Review This is a novella about Red the sheriff in town and Frankie. Both are alone on Christmas and Frankie's caring but possibly illegal behavior and a blizzard put her on Red's radar. Red dealing with his first Christmas since his divorce is helping Rory and Carson out by helping at Three Rivers Ranch while they are off in Hawaii.
I found that the story moves really quickly between Red and Frankie. It is hard to tell why the two like each other beyond physical attraction. I find that I didn't get enough information to see why this couple would end up together and stay together.
The good thing about this novella is that Bliss, the feisty old housekeeper returns along with others from the Three Rivers Ranch series. Like the others, we don't get many steamy scenes though it is implied. Since I have come to like this little town of Lutherton and the people living there I will likely continue to read other books in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick read since it's a novella and Saving the Sheriff fits right in with the Three River Ranch series especially since most of it takes place on the ranch. We are introduced to new characters and catch up with many we've met before and I was drawn into the story immediately and my emotions were engaged. There was a lot of action throughout and a Christmasy feel since the book is set at that time of year. There were rescued reindeer (or are they?), a major snowstorm with loss of power and an attraction between the sheriff, Red, and animal activist, Frankie (Francesca) that could melt the snow even though they meet under less than ideal circumstances.
The story was heartwarming but also heartbreaking since Red and Frankie were both lonely souls. They fought their attraction and chemistry as best they could but in the one step forward and two or three steps back approach. Unfortunately they didn't always communicate well about their thoughts and feelings and neither wanted to assume that there was something between them if there really wasn't. Red kept comparing Frankie to his ex-wife and always seemed surprised that Frankie was so genuine, didn't play games and meant what she said even if their meeting wasn't too promising initially. Watching their interactions along with those of Des, Zach, Bliss and even Blythe was a hoot and Frankie felt she got to know them well even if she was embarrassed at times. Red felt a part of the community which he hadn't expected. He was house sitting for Rory and Carson while they were away with their daughter for a family Christmas in Hawaii and took his job of caring for the ranch and the animals even in the snowstorm very seriously.
The made up words that Frankie set to different carols were hysterical and it was nice to see Red let his guard down and join in with his own take on the songs. Of course most of the new lyrics pertained to them and they often sang things to the other they couldn't or wouldn't put into words. The descriptions of the land, the snow, the house and other buildings, the animals, food and clothing made me feel that I was there in cold, wintry Montana. Mistral, the labradoodle, was her normal enthusiastic self and took immediately to newcomer Frankie but not so much to Red even though he was the one caring for her while her owners were gone. There was nice closure and a happily ever after thanks to the epilogue. I for one can't wait to return to Three River Ranch.
Snopek is an author whose heartwarming western romances have snagged me. I look forward to reading many more of her books and will be adding them to my always growing TBR pile. Next up for me is the fourth book in the series, Resisting the Rancher, but I hope it won't be the last!
Favorite Quote: Stop, rewind, delete, delete, delete. You're overtired, lonely, stressed and it's made you certifiably fruit-and-nut-bar crazy.
Fantastic little read, I loved it! It had it all, funny, steamy, cold, the shadows and one sassy gal with a huge heart and smarts and one scrooge like Sheriff who snags her on Christmas Eve. He hates Christmas. When a blizzard comes in and strands her, he promptly brings her back to the farm and tries to get her to talk. She's just a pisser. I loved her and him both. I can't say much because I'll give the story away, but I'm going to read the rest of the series. I love Roxanne and this was just perfect. 4. stars
Saving The Sheriff is a quick and fun read that has no harsh cursing and no on-page sex. Frankie was a bit of a hot mess, but she's a hilarious hot mess, so that makes her ridiculously likable. Red was grouchy and closed off, but he was also a really great character, and I found myself rooting for them to find their happily ever after.
This was my first book of Ms. Snopek's, and I really enjoy her writing style. The bits of humor that were weaved in among the sexual tension were awesome, and I look forward to reading more from her.
What a cute story to read and it didn't matter that it was set during Christmas and it is June. Red(Rudolph) the sheriff comes across a lady in distress (Frankie) dressed in an elf costume, on the ranch he is watching for friends, during a blizzard. She has removed the reindeer from a Christmas petting zoo to the ranch, a sanctuary, and gets stuck. One thing leads to another and call it fate, but you have to read the whole story, because I am not going to tell you what happens next.
Kind of a sweet story, though it was a short story -only took me about 1 & 1/2 hours to read. There were some things that were a bit confusing, like I might have missed something in a previous book, not enough to hurt the enjoyment. The characters were likable, with the odd humor thrown it made for a pleasant read. I did feel the end was rushed. I would have liked this to have been expanded a bit without it seeming like insta-Love between them though.
Frankie Sylvia & Sheriff Red LeClair Frankie is caught red handed at the ranch unloading reindeer by Red and they are both caught in a blizzard. What a good match for one another. I liked her positive spin on life and how she wants to do good. How perceptive she is about reading Red so clearly and seeing Red’s pain. Nice ending with the epilogue and how 6 months later they are making a life together.
Just finished Saving the Sheriff. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautifully done. I’m not a huge fan of novellas, prefer a big meaty book, but this one was perfectly paced and believable, with a plausible though zany premise, and left me satisfied. A very sweet Christmas/winter romance with very likeable characters, tho sometimes I could just smack that Bliss for her interfering ways. Don’t know how I’d make out in such a small, tightly knit community. 😉 Really love Red and the fun song lyrics! ❤️
Cute story he goes by Red, short for Rudolph, she has elk outfit on. Doing good deeds at this time of year, to off set the loneliness. Letting reindoor loose, rig and trailer not hers, and she is stuck. Who finds her, but the sheriff, taking her back to his house. With out power, could they find more, as the time goes by and she can't leave. Readers will enjoy this cute story.
This was a great Christmas story! Frankie gets stuck in a snow drift with a truck that is not hers with a trailer attached. Red is staying at Three River Ranch while the owners are away and finds Frankie. Due to the blizzard, Red takes her to the house instead of jail. Frankie's enthusiasm for the holiday thaws Red's heart! Christmas romance at it's best!
I throughly enjoyed this quick visit to Three River Ranch. The characters were wonderful and real and kept my intetest throughout. A lovely Christmas novella which I recommend you read 😊
Roxanne Snopek is one of the authors who writes in the Marietta, MT universe, so when I saw this free short story in a different series of hers I thought I would give it a chance. As far as clean romances so, I liked it.
A very sweet snowed in at Christmas story. The sheriff is spending his first Christmas alone after his divorce by looking after his friends wild mustang sanctuary. Along comes an elf who is saving five ‘Rudolphs’ from the slaughterhouse.
This was such a cute romance. Frankie and Red stumble upon each other in a bad snow storm Christmas Eve. Two lonely people find each other and have a swirl wind holiday.
Sweet contemporary western romance, ending in a second chance at love for 'Red' and the first living and close relationship for Frankie. Enjoyable read...over top quickly.
