Ide give it abt a 2.5...
The beginning of the book was a little all over the place for me. So kyle has a near death experience which his new boss just happens to be driving by and saves his life then right afterwards on the same night they both end up at the same bar which is in a totally different city. THEN the next day they end up at the same movie theater in the same movie...then on another day they end up at the same bar AGAIN and it wasnt even the same bar as the first time!!...Then there's another near death experience. Am I the only one going ummmmm wtf? Like that's A LOT of coincidences. Too many in my opinion. Like seriously. Wow. Also in the beginning Kyle is chasing Mason but Mason pushes him away then within hours Mason is pursuing Kyle but Kyle rejects him for absolutely no reason whatsoever. He changes his mind apparently but with no explanation to us. It was odd. Like on 1 page he is confidently coming onto mason and the next page he is so shy he cant look mason in the eye and is saying they shouldnt do this. Im a little confused abt who Kyle is as a person.
But as usual there is tons of chemistry with the characters and amazing sex scenes. That one great thing abt this series...the sex scenes in all the books are always different. You never feel like each book has the same sex scenes over and over. It may follow the same formula but each couple brings their own twist to their love life.

DNF. I'm always wary of these long-running erotica series--they tend to be low in quality--, but the premise of this book was interesting enough that I decided to give it a chance.

Unfortunately, my first instinct was right. Usually it takes a few plot beats for me to realize the book isn't for me, but in this case, it had nothing to do with the characters and a lot more to do with the awful writing style.

For whatever reason, most of the sentences in this book have simple structures. He did this. It was that. They did that. Over and over, lending to a really unnatural flow. For example: "He couldn’t catch up to the man. He was getting away."

Those two sentences were pretty much the breaking point for me: not only are they in the same structure, but they're redundant.

I decided then to skip ahead a bit, and found both the characters to be rather annoying. Tough dom, shy/pushy sub... yeah, I've read that one before, from authors who can string two sentences together that don't sound awkward.

I'm definitely going to avoid this author in the future.
