DR. MIKE FABAREZ is the founding pastor of Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo, California. He is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Talbot School of Theology, and Westminster Theological Seminary in California. Mike is heard on hundreds of stations on the Focal Point radio program and has authored several books, including Lifelines for Tough Times, Preaching That Changes Lives, and Bible Survey for Kids. Mike and his wife Carlynn have three children, Matthew, John and Stephanie.

This book reminds us that we will go through tough times in our lives but the Lord will be there with us through those times.  It also reminds us not to assume that just because someone is going through ahard time it does not mean that they have some secret sin in their life.  One powerful point this book brings up is that if we are to measure sucess by the avoidance of pain then we are failures because that is not the measure of sucess.

Fabarez reminds us that peopld can be motivated yo live closer to Christ by the way we respond to our challenges.

I believe this book is an important book one that I would definitely recommend to anyone who is going through tough times.

Excellent resource for those struggling with pain as Christians.

Mike Fabarez challenges the idea that pain is the enemy and should be avoided at all costs. He gives many examples in Scripture of how God uses pain for our good, as repugnant as that may sound. Having traveled the road of sorrow himself, Fabarez has first-hand experience in dealing with longterm pain with his baby daughter Stephanie, born with Spina Bifida. He shares what he has learned that he may "comfort others with the comfort he has received."
