Beast and Beauty

Rate this book
A retelling of the Beauty and the Beast fairytale—with a twist. What if the beauty and her beast had a history? What if she was the enchantress who cursed him in the beginning?

Cecily has great dreams but no hope of freedom until the dashing and wealthy Jevan notices her beauty. Their romance is passionate at first but ends in a bitter curse and exile. One year later, on the other side of the world, Cecily discovers a secret in an abandoned manor house and realizes that her sins will not stay buried. Thus begins the classic tale of love and redemption, with a little extra magic.

The world building is lush. The medieval fantasy was different than I expected with a blend of Christianity and paganism.

The romance was vague. The bad stuff seemed to take over the story even though there is a happy ending.

At the end I wanted to read something to make me happy so I won't be reading this again.

Beast and Beauty is a breathtaking retelling of the classic fairytale. It transports readers into a beautiful world with no pretensions about the darker side of people. It is a stunning tale of love, hurt, Power, and redemption.

A very interesting retelling of beauty and the beast. I enjoyed the world and story, however, I just didn't feel the love between the 2 main characters. Each was built up great and you got a feel for their personality, but I just felt their ending relationship was lacking. I'd say it's worth reading, but probably not rereading.

It was an interesting retelling of the story, but it just didn't make me feel any magic. I didn't feel the love between the two main characters.

I really liked this book, it was a spin on what I always considered one of my favorite fairy tales. It's just as dark as the original but with some different aspects to it.

I gave this 4 stars because of how unique the retelling of this classic fairytale was. There were definitely some problems with the story (poor editing for one), but overall worth reading. I enjoyed the Christian undertones as well.
