Mrs. Green announces to the class that St. Patrick's day is next week, and everyone is supposed to wear something green. Hubie can't think of what to wear, but his art teacher, Miss Swamp, helps him with his problem. Hubie's mom tells him a little about St. Patrick, and how he ran all the snakes from Ireland, and brought the first book to Ireland. When the day arrives the school is decorated with green, leprechauns, and rainbows, and all the food for lunch is green. The day ends with a parade. There are plenty of leprechaun jokes at the end of this book to enjoy.
