Homicide detective Deke Racine has found another nest, this time with four bodies, brutally murdered like all the rest. He's been chasing the killer for nearly a decade, but is no closer to catching him now than on day one.

Eighteen have died. Racine is angry, frustrated...and closer than he thinks.

Flash fiction stories generally run from between 100 and 1,000 words, with the lower word counts representing a challenge to the writer to craft a story with a beginning, middle, and end, along with characters, plot, maybe a hook or twist, and a resolution. So, not only is this a short story, it's a very short story.

I hope you like it.

“Crush” by Chuck Grossart is one of those tales where you are more freaked out after you finish it than you were while reading it. It has a top-notch twist at the end you will not see coming. It is flash fiction, as is much of what Grossart writes, but Grossart gives you just enough information to fully comprehend the full story, even going back several years.

“Crush” is good. I wish I could say more, but it wouldn’t be fair to you if I said too much. You’ll have to trust me on this one. This tale features one sick psychopathic serial killer who has gotten away with murder for a long, long time. If that thought intrigues you, you will like “Crush”.

Crush, A Flash Fiction Story by Chuck Grossart I received a free kindle copy of Crush, A Flash Fiction Story by Chuck Grossart in an Amazon promotion.I gave this very short story four stars. Detective Deke Racine walks right into the stench of death. In seven years, he & his partner, Cheech Hernandez have worked eighteen homicides."All the vics are female, mid to late 20's, red hair, taken within a short span of days, sometimes within hours of each other. They're fully clothed, apart from a missing left shoe, with no sign of sexual assault or struggle."This intriguing story ends with a wicked twist.

It's not often a flash fiction story has enough room for a genuine flashback, but Chuck Grossart does a fine job with it. Continually impressed with his flash fiction. He's truly setting the bar high!

A flash fiction story, really. Quite remarkable the way he tells this story in a very short way and indeed make you feel like you had traveled a very long distance.
