Finn is three quarters Asazi and one quarter human. He's a lieutenant in the Asazi army and his desire is to be the best soldier he can. He's spent a lifetime denying his human side, only to find out that now it makes him key to a mission on Earth. A mission that includes Marissa Sanchez, Target 41, a determined, smart-mouthed spitfire that brings out emotions his Asazi nature rejects.
A human woman with a target on her.
Marissa's dream is to keep her restaurant from being seized by ruthless developers. She's broke, out of options, has a deadline, and a cheating ex who offers to marry her and solve her financial problems. Everything changes when a guy named Finn saves her life and provides a completely different kind of option.
As I've come to understand, alien races are in peril and procreation with human females is the only salvation. The story is enjoyable. However, it happens too fast. From within hours close to a weekend. I don't know how the "females" for harvesting are selected.
Half Asazi, half human military elite Finn has always hated his human side. He is chosen along with others to kidnap Earth women. And harvest their eggs? Well, I'm not a doctor. Some parts threw me off. The Asazi previously lived on Earth but were banished. His race is dying; they don't do intercourse between them. Yet, after watching a porn guy knows how to do it. I think that would be the main reason why their race is dying.
Aliens seem to prefer bakery and restaurant owners for the stories I've read so far. Female lead Marissa is trying to save Her restaurant; which was passed down from Her father. Her brother wants nothing to do with it; so she's on her own. Her next two days are spent with a hot stranger who turns out to be an alien, and she decides to be happy than to save what she fought so hard to maintain. A lot of missing holes in the story. Overall reviews I read were really good. The story is a set for following books.
This is a short story. It was okay. I had a hard time following it at the end because I felt the end was thrown together and inconsistent. I dislike that. The cliffhanger was the straw that broke the camels back for me. It was anticlimactic for me. I will not be reading the next one.
My friend recommended this book to me and I was unsure if I would like it as I have never been that much into Alien and/or outer space books. I thought I would give it a try since she has never really steered me wrong. So I bought the book and I must say..... I Totally LOVED this book! It kept me enthralled with what was going to happen next. I loved the characters and how everything just seemed to fit right in together with no confusion as to what was happening. The end of the book has left me hanging on just what will happen next! There are 4 books in this series and guess who already purchased the remaining 3 books so that I will finally know just what happens to Finn and his Hellion!!!
This book happened way too fast, and we don't really ever know why certain things are happening. I liked the romance aspect of this book but like I said it was way too fast and we don't get enough information for everything else. I probably won't continue on with this series.
Skimmed a LOT. Cliffhanger ending so you'll buy the next short novella. Lots of unanswered questions, so-so chemistry & romance. Aliens kidnapping & possibly killing human women for their eggs. Not sexy in any way. Recommended as filler only.
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Ultimate Passage series and ends in an HEA. Finn is one quarter human and a fierce soldier for his people, the Asazi. His mission is to capture 4 female targets on earth in order to use them to procreate. He doesn’t ask questions. As he is stalking one of his targets, he wonders what is done to these women. Do they survive? Are they made to suffer? None of these questions get answers by the end of this story.
>Finn’s target is Marissa, a failed restaurant owner. Finn gets to know Marissa and finds a fierce attraction to her. Finn also realizes everything told to him regarding Earth is not true. He was warned to not eat the food or sleep with the females. He was told the females are dangerous.
>Finn attempts to protect Marissa from his own soldiers. His cousin, Kal, provides an opportunity for Finn and Marissa to get their HEA, at least for now. This story had wonderful characters. Finn was swoon worthy, yet naïve to emotions and love. Marissa was a very determined woman, confused as to what her dream actually was. The weak part of the story is the plot. So much more could have been done with the plot. The backstory of the Asazi people was just touched on. I felt a lot more needed to be given in order for their plight to feel real. As the story currently reads, the Asazi people seem like ruthless predators and not a group to cheer for.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. I loved the humor in Finn trying out new “Earth” slang. A little more backstory and the book will be awesome.
This was another meh book for me. Was there anything particular about it that I disliked? Not really. Was there anything I liked about it either? Not really. It lived in a limbo territory of not bad but never good and if anything that annoys me more than a book where I actually dislike elements of it. This was so bland and flat. It was also incredibly rushed. She goes from hating him to loving him in the span of one drunken night that she doesn't even remember. He loves her upon seeing her for the first time and its never explained why. Sci-Fi romances typically have quite an insta-love plotline that I don't mind because we are usually given a reason for it, the aliens form of mating or whatever, but here - literally nothing. They were just instantly in love. It was also set entirely on Earth which was pretty disappointing for a sci-fi romance. I loved the idea of him being an solider and her being is target but that's not really how its written considering he has no idea why he has to get her. The blurb and word target make it sound as if he's going to try to kill her... When he just needs to knock her out. There was also random ex-fiances for both partners and it felt so pointless to the story to have either, other than to bulk out a sagging plot. So yeah, the plot really disappointed me. Oh and also, it had a cliffhanger. But nothing thst made me want to read on, so many things were left unanswered (hence why its a cliffhanger) but their story had no plot in the first place so how it could continue into a second story is beyong me. Anyway, as you can tell this was not my jam, too many things missing and nothing to replace them with left it feeling flat.
Finn is great; he shows concern for a foreign species before his mission, he jeopardizes his standing in his community to save Marissa, and he tries to help more women he has no involvement with based on a hunch. He's such a hero! Marissa is pretty honorable, too; she fights for her father's dream at the expense of her own happiness, she continued to reach out to her brother even though it's obvious he's unsatisfactory, and she shows compassion for a race that has unsavory plans for her. She's a real heroine, the two of them make a great pairing, and the "lovers on the run" trope doesn't get old for me. However, the amount he doesn't know about his own body, his people, and their history is frankly unbelievable for such an advanced race. I did enjoy the surprise twist towards the end and am curious about how that will play out.
This was free in Google play and I love alien books so I decided to give it a try. I finished the book in few hours.
I enjoyed reading about these two but it wasn't like 'wow this is so good'.
Marissa forgot that Finn flirted with her friend pretty quickly. I usually like instalove but that seemed pretty quick.
Most of the book she thought all men were jerks and would do anything to keep her restaurant but in the end of the book it didn't take much to forget all about them.
Also how didnt she freak more about Finn having wings? If someone I was sexual with I would totally freak. I wouldn't just think about leaving. She should've atleast yelled a little bit for hiding that from her.
Finn is a quarter human and is sent to earth to kidnap some woman to help his people. But when he meets Marissa he gets feelings for her, feelings he has never had before. He also discovers more things about humans and their ways.
Marissa is at a bad time in her life, the restaurant she owns is in trouble and ex shows up offering her a solution she doesn't want. But next to that there is Finn a hot man she can't get out of her head.
Finn and Marissa are hot together, real hot. Good read.
Asazi soldiers and scientists travel to earth as they need women. The soldiers are each given four women they have to take. Finn finds the first woman on his list but for some unknown reason he cannot take her and gets the second woman. Marissa is attracted to Finn but doesn’t understand why then her ex tries to course trouble. This story keep you reading I’m not going to spoil it only to say I enjoyed reading it
This was a cleverly written storyline. I was delighted and surprised that it held my interest through out the entire book. Finn does have his issues but I believe he will work them out as the series progresses. Main characters are developing as we get further into the story. So far I'm all in because I like what I have read so far.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Not bad for an Alien Romance. With her old life swept away, she’s no choice but to start over and why not with a gorgeous Alien? Fairly entertaining. Definitely part of a series.
The terrific start to a series that already has me on pins and needles! So much excitement and anticipation written into every page and the beauty of discovering love between different races and the fight that will cement their union is inspiring! Can't wait to start on book 2!
My opinion: As you can see August saw me read a lot of aliens romances from all kind and this one is the one i liked less.... it’s not bad written and the plot isn’t bad even if it(s partly quite predictable.... no but i had some trouble getting into the universe. For me it seemed really strange that no one was intrigued about what was happening to the women, that no one would fight against such actions.... i guess that i despite the Asazi. Finn is only part human and he fought that part because he wasn’t able to fit easily in the Asazi world.... i found it sad. But i liked him i mean he does ask question, he does think by himself and it’s courageous.....the way is attempted to make coffee was really funny and he could be utterly protective and tender when caring for Marissa. I liked Kal as well he does care for Finn and tried to help him. Marissa is a dedicated daughter... she does her best to keep her father’s dream alive when she isn’t aware of what she really wants. What i liked teh most about her was how she didn’t fall for her ex manoeuvre i mean i could even suspect he was being her troubles from the start.
Now what i didn’t like was the lack of asazi’s implication like i explained before and the fact that we don’t get answers either. Finn wonders about what is happening to the women... to n°42 for example since she is reported missing. Kal tell him that she was send back home and he just accept that... yes he tries to check later but on another woman so even if Kal was sincere perhaps he was not aware of something bad because hey she is still missing, nobody is worried about this detail? Also, Finn isn’t telling anyone about his wings?! Not even his cousin after everything? Especially considering that he want to see him again... too strange
I hate being left with questions like that so i couldn’t enjoy this story properly and while i really would love to know what happened to Kal it’s not a series i think i will continue.. perhaps if book 2 get free i will give it a try but other way i think i will focus on others series for the time being.
Finn is one quarter human and he speaks English, learnt from his captured human grandmother. So he’s a good choice for a kidnap operation on Earth. They can tap into medical records and they have selected certain targets - all female - for a breeding program prior to a planned slow return to earth. Finn doesn’t feel love, or desire. His emotions colour his skin, literally, and he has membranous wings. He can look human but it takes a kind of effort for him to maintain the glamour. But his target affects him in ways he didn’t expect, and he starts to question everything. Why these women? He is told they are returned unharmed but his first victim is on the TV as missing. And he doesn’t want Marissa to be missing. He’s not sure what he wants from her. But he can’t let her go. *** I am always picking up things from podcasts with authors. Ms Thorne writes a number of different genres and this is the first book in her alien series. Finn has some unexpected side effects on earth: he can eat human food, his wings work and he feels lust and maybe even love. It’s 200 pages but it ended quite abruptly and with a few things coming in from left field.
The book wrapped up so quickly, my head is still spinning. So many things were dragged out to the point where I almost just started skimming, but not the ending, which is annoying in the extreme.
There was constant CONSTANT repetition. The chapters were so short (quite a few of them weren't even a page long), which made for a very awkward story flow.
The instant attraction between the two main characters was creepy in the extreme - for both of them. The subplot with her ex-boyfriend makes NO sense - I have no idea if it's explained in later books, but I don't CARE.
There's a drunken bar scene that is so descriptive, I nearly vomited myself - so unnecessary. There are other ways of providing that kind scene. And then the heroine, waking up with no memories from her time in the bar implies that she HOPES the hero took advantage of her drunken state. Excuse me?
The saving grace for this novel was that the actual concept of the story was interesting. I definitely will not be continuing the series. I just don't care about the characters, who were both very surface creatures. The whole thing was very weakly written.
This book was fun to read and had an interesting concept. People from another world are harvesting human women to help procreate their species. They strive to be emotionless and believe humans to be chaotic and too erratic emotionally to be a great species. Though they're good enough for breeding. One specific soldier, part human, is sent on a mission to collect these females but he finds one too irresistible and beautiful that he compromises his mission in an attempt to keep her safe.
I find this story well written and emotionally charged. Confusion and heat suffuse the story and drew me in and kept me reading it till I finished. The story isn't necessarily a cliff hanger but it does end rather abruptly. I do want to read the next story as I am still quite interested in what was happening.
