Extraordinary, and heart-altering.

Like everything I've read from Tom Cowan, I found myself pausing over paragraphs, sometimes for many weeks at a time.

Words can't do justice to my gratitude to you, Mr. Cowan, for putting your teachings to paper. I will read and practice them many times over. I've purchased copies for friends, and will continue to do so - it's a profound honor to share your work and help further it into this world.

Thank you, and blessings.

Perhaps one of best books on the topic I've read. Using the concept of shamanic core practioner, Cowan does a great job of demonstrating respect for cultural traditions and the understanding that wholesale adoption, or co-option, of these spiritual traditions and concepts does great injustice. That said there are core practices that can be utilized to enrich one's spiritual path and still be mindful of both original intent and individual usage.

The discussion of elemental spirits, natural spirits, and the general spirituality of the natural world is brilliant. The considerations of dimensionality is very useful and accurate in general and specific contexts. The power animal issue is a bit fuzzy, but the idea is on the money with respect to spirit guides in this practice. Whatever one's cultural identifications this book will help articulate a very satisfying spiritual vitality not otherwise available. One of the most enlightening books I've read in a long time.

This is a serious work that can help bring wonderful illumination. It does not get caught on the trap of "new age" cultural misappropriation. A rare thing in this topic. Well worth taking the time and effort to read and incorporate as it works for you.

I've been a shamanic practitioner for many years and read so many books on the subject. This one is the best in terms of practical day-to-day use regardless of what culture you grew up in. It's beautifully written with so many suggestions for a deep and fulfilling life with empowering spirit connection.

My first introduction to the world of 'core shamanism' and it was truly and thoroughly enjoyed. The author describes all the aspects with gentle insight and care, the book is organized so thoughtfully. I especially love the chapters on finding your power animal the various journey ideas at the end.

This has been on of the most enlightening books that I have read in a very long time. I read this book originally from the library but I fully intend on buying a copy for my own study and collection. Very detailed and easy to understand instructions and optimistic messages. I can't say enough positive about this book! I look forward to going through the steps in more depth.
