The last thing marketing assistant Kayla Morgan expects to do on a Friday morning is give a tour of her emergency shelter to a flighty rock star. When her boss orders her to play nice, she acquiesces.

Sebastian Cox, lead singer of The U.K. Underground, finds the American bird with the bunker in her backyard more than wacky, but the band’s looking for a location to shoot their latest video.

When an earthquake strikes, the unlikely couple gets trapped and finds a few ways to keep themselves busy. Once reality sets in, will their differences leave them on shaky ground?

Kayla, advertising assistant and prepper, finds herself trapped in her bunker with enigmatic rockstar Sebastian. She spends her time prepping for natural disasters and while future focused, tries to live in the moment. His character charms the reader with his British lingo and past trauma.

Sebastian finds his muse in Kayla and she a consuming passion for living.

The author's note did a great job of grounding the reader in the state of the world that makes people feel the need to prep for disasters. Even with the these sobering real world issues, I came away with a sense of hope. Despite the pain in the world, like Sebastian we can be healed.

I could not put this story down. Kayla and Sebastian's characters are fascinating and their love story was beautiful to watch unfold.

The Big One features Kayla, an assistant that happens to have a bunker and British rocker, Sebastian. Sebastian’s band is looking for a music video location. The two end up in close quarters in the bunker after they get stuck. Sparks fly as Sebastian drops his arrogant, rocker persona and gets real with Kayla.

The romance between the two is very believable. Sebastian was a great mix of hot male yet a bit vulnerable. Kayla’s independence was refreshing and her self-talk was amusing. Prepper Party Pooper is going to stick with me for a long time!

I liked how the author showed preparedness in a way that I learned more about it without feeling like I was reading a Wiki page dump.

The Verdict:
Fast and Sexual. A scarred hero, a feisty female, and an unusual situation. Ms. Bacio take a bow. I truly believe that this story could be loved by all. Two opposites attracting, danger, sexual escapades... I really wish this could have been longer. Don't get me wrong, the story is told completely and the reader is left wanting for anything.... except MORE. I so didn't want this story to end. I want to know what their next five and ten years will bring! Very rarely do I ever get this attached to actual characters. So, to make it official.... It's a "Five Cups of Love" read!

This sexy short story kept me turning pages! I really enjoyed the prepper story line. The bad boy rocker and the straight laced marketing director were so fun to watch falling in love.

A well spun tale. This author can bring the heat, love and romance all into alinement for a very satisfying read!!
